No I can do it, it's just that why should I have to waste time on one problem? They always tell you to skip it, but what good does that do? You just have to go back to it again and have to go through the mind numbing process still
To prove that you are able to do, and that you can do it in a timely manner.
You can't prove you know something without showing the process of how you got to the answer.
The skipping strategy is just a way to allocate your time so that you can get maximum points if you don't straight up remember how to do a particular thing on a test.
Most of the teachers I've had are pretty average, with a couple that were really cool and made learning interesting.
But the last history teacher I had (it's often history teachers, isn't it?) was absolutely awful. She was really good at making anything boring, and I swear half the classes we had with her we'd end up watching some random film like 2 Fast 2 Furious, I shit you not.
Of course, only a couple of students complained. I protested at the start but eventually just stopped caring. People like her should not be teaching.
This guy is awesome.

Right on man, right on. My favorite part of this video.
The way he speaks and what he says, it takes heart.
He is a hero.
That guy should have been teaching the class! He seems like the kind of person who actually cares about the well being of others and making sure they get the stuff right instead of having to do stuff on their own with a teacher that does not do much even as their job.
If only someone would have done this in some of my classes in the past..

The sad part is, in this guy's case and in the case of anyone who does anything similar, it will be dismissed as your standard teenage angst and nothing will become of it
True, but since the video is getting pretty popular, couldn't there be a chance that an investigation be done on a teacher if the right people see this and do more research?
I know in the past here in Canada, similar things like that has happened and actually helped the better of the class.
Well if it turns out I'm wrong in my prediction I'd be pretty happy to admit I was wrong.
he's pretty right
the US education system is pretty atrocious
teachers have their job because it's easy money or because they are also coaching sports and often don't understand the content they teach in the first place
it's why getting a secondary education or external education is so necessary to actually learn viable content
the overwhelming cynicism in this thread regarding teachers is really disheartening; i have relatives, friends, and coworkers that teach. the idea that they do what they do to "collect a paycheck" is absurd; teaching is not a job where you collect a paycheck. teaching doesn't pay well. teaching is a job with extreme hours. teaching is a job with extreme frustration. teaching is a job where you see problems and in many ways are blocked from solving them. teaching puts incredible social weight on your shoulders.
to view teachers as these leaches on a system is terrible. ask any teacher, and they'll tell you the absolute hell they go through to get a license to teach. it's not fun, it's a hard job.
this doesn't mean that those individuals don't exist, it's that those individuals may outshine the truly amazing ones because people love to focus on the negative and think about the negative. large numbers of people in high school and right out of high school don't recognize how much those teachers care about kids, especially if you're not a shithead.

no it will not. you have no idea how school administrations operate. i guarantee this teacher is getting a whole pile of shit thrown at her right now by her bosses.
Oh god that teacher's voice really irritates me.
"Bye. Bye. Go. Bye. No. Bye."

She can't contribute to an argument that has to do how she's lazy at teaching. Really does prove that she is lazy

teachers are like cops, people only really pay attention to the bad ones

she didn't want to lose control over her class lol. if you start getting in a fight with a student, how is that going to make you look?
she did all that she could do. she asked him to leave, and he kept going on his rant (which may well be justified especially if she's just giving out packets and being lazy) - she can't offer any counterpoints because then others may chime in, and she'd lose complete control
what else would you have her do?
we literally do nothing in math
Our teacher tries to teach, but if anyone makes the slightest noise or giggle, she spends 30 minutes getting off track and shit
The "do nows" or w/e you wanna call them, end up taking up like 30-40 minutes. She will spend like 20-30 questions on one fucking problem, its stupid.
I wanna fucking learn, fuck.
Also stop with the goddamned "IF YOU DONT WORK IT OUT, ITS WRONG" bull shit. We have calculators for a reason.
you find the answer with the calculator sure, but you show how it's worked out to prove you understand what you're actually doing, and not that you just memorized how to press certain buttons

but yeah teachers that suck are real bad, especially for pricks like me that really needed to get motivated to do school work (but i think school wasn't really for me anyway). but that isn't to say all teachers suck or even most, my mums a teacher and i like to think she's pretty good, and i've had some real great teachers, in my last year of taking math i was failing test after test until we got a new maths teacher who really got on my level, spoke to me like i was another person and not just a dumb kid and worked through it with me and that shit that was originally like rocket science to me (trigonometry) became one of my easiest subjects
She can't contribute to an argument that has to do how she's lazy at teaching. Really does prove that she is lazy
Having that type of argument just straight up out of nowhere in class isn't productive. Assuming he didn't already, he should have tried taking it up with her after class.
The guy who gives my databases class is worse then that teacher. He doesn't give us anything he just sits down and starts chatting on facebook etc.
I have one more year before I graduate with my degree in Music Education, and its sad for me to see teachers get like that. A lot new teachers start out great most of the time, but after several years have passed, typically they get burnt out. A lot factors can contribute and from what I've seen in my clinical's there are usually two main reasons teachers become like this.
One of the big reasons is that in America, teachers are horrible under payed, compared to getting a four year degree in some of other field. All teachers go in knowing this, but continue because we a have a passion for teaching others despite this.
The second reason adds onto the first. Some teachers lose the passion for teaching because of overall bad experiences with students. As they get a string of bad experiences they want to teach less and less, and with little pay, they become the crappy teacher you get in this video. Sad stuff.
This is usually the case, but unforgettably sometimes you just get bad teachers from the beginning and should of been canned by the university. The university's education department has a job to catch bad teachers before they get their degree, and sometimes that doesn't always work out.
Does anyone else get bothered up until the point where you wish you could transcend physical existence just to jump into that classroom and slap that stubborn bitch of a teacher?
I rather transcend physical existence to a bank vault
This guy is almost as cool as Kai the Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker.
Funnily, I had a better math teacher in my public school than I did in my private school. My grade 8 math teach fucked me over so hard for the years to come. I was getting really crappy grades up to grade 11, when I self taught myself the things my grade 8 teacher never did. Ended up getting 94% on my province's provincial grade 12 math exam.
In my school, we had amazing class teacher who actually cared for her students, she spent evenings and nights working on tests for us, gave us faculties, had extensive knowledge herself, etc., other teachers didn't really give much useful info, but my fellow students didn't give a jack shit, too, though, and they were pretty chill people, so they didn't bother those people who didn't need knowledge of subject.
The only teacher I won't really remember fondly is our principal, who also was history teacher:
Instead of actually putting some effort into tests, he simply gave someone USB with all the answers, and after every quarter, we had to go there after lessons(half of time we waited he was smoking outside), memorize, not learn those papers, answer and leave.
At same time, he does have knowledge, he's just too lazy to put some effort other than expressing his opinion to us, atleas that's what I'm grapefruit for.
wow
I guess I'm lucky because most of the teachers I've had in high school were passionate about their subject. Rarely did I get a teacher that didn't give a fuck. For my last year I had some really good teachers. My buisness teacher had like 15 years of field experience so he knew his shit.
I'm Australian if that matters and yeah I went to a public school.
Reminds me of most of my teachers in my highschool. My entire Senior year feels like it has been a huge waste of time. I have 4 classes this year (3 if you don't count TA) and all of the teachers I have just hand out packets and do fuck all for the rest of the period. My Chemistry and Physics classes in my previous years were cool because that teacher had passion for what he did, but he is like one of the only teachers in my school who gives a shit. Then again, what should I expect from a low ranking school system like Nevada's.

Senior year is mostly a waste of time unless you are taking higher level classes like Calculus or college credit worthy academic classes.
I was able to sleep almost all day every day and still get As in basically every class. It's pretty much a waste of a year unless you qualify/take the valuable classes.
The public education system is terrible in Amurka but if you seriously think most teachers are "in it for the paycheck" because it's "easy money" you are so wrong for real, it is a ridiculously thankless job with crap pay and huge amounts of unpaid overtime preparing lessons
i don't think anyone teaches for easy money but i do think alot of teachers have lost any passion they had for the job or just picked the wrong career
Public education is generally pretty terrible wherever you are.
Yes, unless you're in Finland.
i don't think anyone teaches for easy money but i do think a lot of teachers have lost any passion they had for the job or just picked the wrong career
"If everyone else is going to be lazy and get a paycheck, why can't I?" Is what it all comes down to. I had some great teachers and some horrible ones, but I definitely think administrators needs to keep a closer eye on their teaching staff. They truly do shape the future of the world.
It's a hard job and children are easily swayed by adults and their attitudes. This ends up being a bad situation where the children become as lazy as their teachers. They'll complete the minimal amount of work possible to succeed and never aspire to do anything. They avoid extra classes because they're content with not having learned a thing for an entire school day.
I am actually happy that I have lots of Ex-Soviet teachers who work not for money most of the time, but for the idea of educating younger generations. They encourage us to study and try to make lessons interesting by showing us scientific movies, extracurricular exercises and by asking non-standard questions. They are not without their flaws, but I am happy that they are teaching us.
The best of them all is probably former university History and Sociology teacher with connections in criminal world, who somehow ended in our school. He tells the best stories, and not afraid of contradicting books by using other creditable sources. Knows lots of obscure facts about ancient and modern history and criticize current country regime. Atheist and Neo-Hegelianist, but tried practicing black magic in his youth. Great man overall.
I love this gentlemen.
Are you kidding me? Berating her in front of the class? That's a horrible thing to do because now she's embarrassed and less inclined to do anything he suggested. He should've waited until an appropriate time, perhaps after or before class, and then do his little bit; and with more restraint at that.
That would literally do so much nothing it would actually implode the earth from how useless that solution would be
He stood up for the class to do something most of them were too afraid to do, he most likely made the other classmates realise the same thing and helped them open their eyes
Besides, that teacher doesn't give a single shit so outside of class or in class she will do the same thing
Nothing at all
