can somebody please explain to me why this is a big deal worthy of a spot in the biggest game event of the year or whatever? I mean, them announcing that cs:go has a new map wouldn't be a big deal, they already got like 20, why is pubg special?
mostly cause pubg is one of the fastest growing games in gaming history, especially coming from a team that only has one game and a couple mods under it's belt. it's also the most played game on steam right now sans any valve games, and even though it's just a simple survival shooter, it's made waves that no game has been able to before.

[sp]also probably sponsored[/sp]

The winner of Best Mobile Game is Monument Valley 2, has anyone here played that?
i like how they had a big booming orchestra playing tons of songs but when nier won best music they didnt play a single song from it

Slightly unrelated: does Hellblade mix up the formula at all? It feels like in 60 minutes of gameplay 20 minutes was dedicated to walking around playing "I spy" while listening to the Norse mythology audiobook..

As for the walk n talk sections, they basically stay the same, but get more intense as the game goes on.
These Awards were fair. Next year, I'd love it if everyone on Facepunch could stop saying cheap zingers like "X is gonna win because they're a bunch of sellouts" but I know I'm dreaming. I feel that every game more or less deserved its Award, not everything in the game industry has to be corrupted as fuck.
It's hard to regain trust after Dragon age inquisition won game of the year
zelda doesn't even deserve GOTY
zelda doesn't even deserve GOTY
[img_thumb]https://i.imgur.com/b1a1PB9.png[/img_thumb]
it really wasn't that good a game. being able to climb stuff and physgun things doesn't excuse the lame combat, afterthought fetch-quests, shrines that all blend together, incessant rain, boring quantity-over-quality collectibles, pathetically easy bosses, and zero replayability it was good, and had that sexual nintendo polish, but it wasn't GOTY good imo
josef fares owns this was a good fuckin show, i don't even care about the awards this shit rocked
Tbh although I liked playing it I think BotW got too much praise. The world still feels fairly empty to me and the boss fights are very very repetitive. I dunno. It's just that apart from....moving around and fighting...there is just not much else to do. And the Koroks are something that would be integrated into other games as "nice to have collectibles", yet in BotW it gets a lot of attention because there isn't much else to find.
-snip, wrong thread WOOPS-

Breath of The Wild was a breath of fresh air for the Zelda series; but I still think it's my least favorite. The climbing, and all round traversal mechanics were spot on. The way you interacted with the games physics engine was awesome. But ultimately the puzzles were way too easy and repetitive. The dungeons were boring and in inspired. And there is not enough unique weapons to find in the world to make any great environmental challenge worth it. I mean fuck they let you climb the Labyrinths so they require zero effort to complete.
This was probably mentioned before, but I think its really cool that you only need one copy of A Way Out to play online co-op (friend simply gets invited and plays). btw this is from an EA email leak: [t]https://i.imgur.com/acuxnUD.png[/t]
I'm happy i stayed awake pretty much the good portion of the show. Well not physically happy since staying awake until 5am is not good but the emotions were there

Well Koroks and a shrine.

I was more focused on the Cellist. She's a total badass, actually, anyone who plays strings is

Not limited to where you go, climbing and flying. Seeing a place and you can just get there with no invisible wall to block you. No icons on the minimap that tell you where stuff is. If you see an interesting spot on the map, you mark it and go there. So many open world games just force hundreds of activities and minigame (-icons) down your throat and bloat all the shit on it while in BOTW the discovery done by the player is the focus.

Death Stranding kinda stole the show, but I'm really excited for In the Valley of Gods. [editline]8th December 2017[/editline] WHOA AND SOMEHOW I MISSED WITCHFIRE COUNT ME THE FUCK IN ON THAT
Okay, so Automata won for best music right? Why the fuck did it not get any sort of musical representation at all. The fuck?
Okay, so Automata won for best music right? Why the fuck did it not get any sort of musical representation at all. The fuck?
because PUBG was more important despite the fact the game has little to no music lol
dude, minecraft.
but minecraft was simmering for about a year or so before it really hit the scene, pubg came outta nowhere and within a couple weeks was blowing up the charts. also, minecraft's boom happened like 7-8 years ago, so it's not like this is a common thing.
