Volition loves using Ultor in their games don't they?
And a stylized Saints Flur at the end?
They do a lot of referencing in their games. Ultor corporation is both in Red Faction and Saints Row. I'm hoping there's plenty of that with this game, too.
Ultor
Purple
De Fleur
"Just a street gang? Hardly"
Sooo, its maybe a Saints Row sequel/reboot? The ending of Gat out of Hell was primed for reboot/retelling

Probably a spinoff more than a sequel/reboot.
This might be a bit spoilerish but seeing how Gat out of Hell has been out for ages, i think i can let this slip.
One of the ending choices for GotH was to recreate earth, but retcon the entire world of Saints Row in the process, essentually turning them to like... basicly Law Enforcement. It didnt give any real clue what time period this would be set in either.
Could be that this ending is the most "canon" out of the selection, this going onto Agents of Mayhem.
sound design seemed really off for a lot of that

I wonder that too. We only have to wait one week to find out.
might be fun, I wonder if the graphics will come close to the trailer.
Sounds like Crackdown
With a new Crackdown coming out this year/next year, and games like Sunset Overdrive doing really fun things with the open world action stuff, I have some nice optimism about this.
I feel like the sound design in the trailer could've used a bit more work. Lot of the stuff lacks oomph because the sound effect is so puny.
That one guy sounded a little like Dave Fennoy.

Probably Keith David again. :v:

i actually just went back and watched all those endings because i had never known there were different ones. in that ending the woman they're about to interrogate is called brimstone, just like in this trailer, so that might be the case. it would make sense considering they didn't really have anywhere else to go with the series since they [sp]blew up earth in 4.[/sp]

[sp]the good ending of 4 literally has them discover Zinyak has a time travel machine,[/sp] so they could've also retconned the entire series or done whatever the fuck they wanted. Gat Out Of Hell was pretty much for funsies in the process I guess.
I liked the 2D-looking smoke effects, but the trailer didn't tell me much about the actual game, mostly just visuals (which is kind of a minimum for video footage I'd say). The writing seemed kinda uncommitted, the characters were sorta cooky but still mostly generic tropes, and the dialogue and bits of plot seemed pretty phoned-in despite the art style trying to give the world its own style. Overall not very interesting so far, hope the gameplay will make up for it.

Dramatic hero entrance followed by puny pew pew lasers was a weird as hell combination.

The guy at 0:13 looks like Johnny Gat, maybe this is another Saints Row Referenced.
well yeah i mean all volition games take place in the same universe, thats just kinda their thing
honestly i dont mind, if they wanna rock one continuity where the games are spaced out just enough that they dont directly interact, that's cool in my book.
I'm pretty sure that's not the case with Red Faction and Saints Row.
This is a super obvious follow-up to Saints Row 4, I know it's been said already but for. the love of god they call it a street gang, they're all purple and the sign is the Saint's fleur. It makes some sense considering the ending of 4/Gat Out of Hell and the fact that it's an open world super hero game sounds like they're talking the premise of Saint's Row 4 and expanding on it. I'm going to be shocked if this isn't eventually announced as the next Saint's Row as this definitely isn't the first time a publisher has initially announced a thinly vieled sequel as a new ip to build up hype/play games with fans. That said however this goes this is the first game in a long time that's actually had me super hyped.
