I wonder what Violet is gonna look like. I want to fuck her. [sp]Said me when I was of an age where that would be legal.[/sp]
I should probably read the books again or something. I think i still have them all possibly
I should probably read the books again or something. I think i still have them all possibly
Is there enough material for an entire TV series?
it's 13 books
Fake or not, that's one badass teaser. Really hope the show takes a darker and especially better-paced direction than the film. [editline]5th July 2015[/editline]
it's 13 books
If it's popular enough, they could even wedge in the prequel series "All The Wrong Questions" that Snicket's been writing.
I absolutely loved the movie when it came out. This is a pleasant surprise, I never would have thought the series would continue.
I was talking to my girlfriend the other day how this would be better as a TV Series than a movie, whadda you know. I liked where the movie was going but the length of the movie was really going to hinder the amount of content they could fill into it. Almost the exact same case with Watchmen, where i did enjoy it but there was so much cut out.
I hope it's Jim Carrey reprising Count Olaf, he's perfect for the role
I hope it's Jim Carrey reprising Count Olaf, he's perfect for the role
He had the appearance perfectly, I just hope he he doesn't come across as silly like in the movie. Olaf's supposed to be a scary bastard. I know Carrey can really act so I'm just hoping he gets better direction.

That was a movie that didn't get the attention it deserved. Everything in it was great. Especially Craig Ferguson.
Goofy comedians acting sinister somehow seems more disturbing to me than actors who always play straight evil roles.
See: Robin Williams in the Insomnia remake
Goofy comedians acting sinister somehow seems more disturbing to me than actors who always play straight evil roles.
They can bring that "Jokeresqsue" quality to the villains. I haven't seen the movie or read the books so I'm not terribly hyped yet. However I really liked the other Netflix shows so I expect something good.
Guys it is fake. Netflix rep said it was.
yeah the fact it's carrey's silhouette kinda made me think so too. It's like a perfect profile to the film, but the set design all looked not quite like the films did, so I was wondering why they'd change the visual style slightly without changing Olaf's look a bit too. It makes sense that they'd use Carrey's olaf, seeing as there's a lot of reference material and footage that they could do some video fuckery with still hope its carrey though
Guys it is fake. Netflix rep said it was.
Source?
Guys it is fake. Netflix rep said it was.
Seems you're right. Entertainment Weekly, Huffington Post, and Variety are saying they were emailed by a Netflix rep that it was fake and fan-made. Nothing more solid than "a rep from Netflix told us thru email" for source but that's all I got.
To those of you who rated me dumb because I thought it could be fake: I expect a 200 word apology in my inbox by the end of the day. At least three citations, APA formatting.
way to jinx it skippy
This is either going to be REALLY REALLY fucking bad due to just them fucking up an awesome series of books, or its gonna be really really fucking good. This little trailer at least seems to capture the feelings I had reading the books though so its off to a good start AND it being a TV series is fuckloads better than a movie series. I hope they make it a bit more mature, the books are obviously more for younger kids like 13+ but it deals a lot with real mature stuff and id like to see them not really graze over that stuff. Its a series that would do better with more mature shit if they are gonna show it. Like I want them to make the horrifying and dark things in the book actually like that on TV.
The guy who made it is a filmmaker named Kellen Moore. In the interview, he says "We just uploaded it onto a YouTube page we made and shared it on Tumblr and Twitter using the proper hashtags... the internet embraced the spot and it naturally just did its thing." I checked to see if he has Twitter account, and he does. Unfortunately it's protected, which means you have to be following him to see his tweets. However, I was able to check his mentions and noticed a friend/girlfriend sent this tweet to him. I checked her account, and noticed she retweeted this tweet about the teaser: https://twitter.com/rachelvent22/status/617652904548171777 Pretty innocuous right? However, check out the rest of her tweets: https://twitter.com/rachelvent22 Literally her entire timeline is made up of tweets sending the teaser to random accounts to get it popularity. It's all connected.
Just gonna solidify this with further proof: https://instagram.com/p/4zVplmLHOY/ Sorry, gang.
Atleast the proof that it was fake is/was announced, instead of dangling it out in the wind like Survivor2299.

Even if its fake, does anyone know what the song is? Although that may be fanmade too.

Also heres some more proof, Netflix's comment on the video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xer4VCa5-tg&lc=z13uf5ihvvvesto3i232el5bwyfqipa1y
:( Maybe all the publicity will encourage Netflix to get the rights and actually produce a show. I really REALLY want to see these books done justice as a film/show.
:( Maybe all the publicity will encourage Netflix to get the rights and actually produce a show. I really REALLY want to see these books done justice as a film/show.
They ARE producing the show. It was announced last year. But the teaser is fan-made.
They ARE producing the show. It was announced last year. But the teaser is fan-made.
Ohhh that's pretty rad then.
Netflix's exact wording in the public is "it's not an official Netflix trailer" It was also uploaded by Eleanora Poe who is a minor character from the series who fires Snicket in the story of the books. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/netflixs-take-on-lemony-snickets-a-series-of-unfortunate-events-already-looks-brilliant-10368031.html Misdirection like this would be classic A Series of Unfortunate Events. A book series where most people who read it still haven't caught on the author doesn't exist (he's a character within the story, he's not real). It wouldn't be hideously outside of the realms of possibility for this to all be part of the viral marketing.
Yeah, I'm hoping they hired him or something to produce this, because that was a great teaser. I've never seen anything about this series, and that teaser really made me want to watch it.
