Internet memes used to be funny because they would only be only be mentioned on chat or in games and instead now we have cringey teenagers using it on a daily basis.
Ah, good old days. http://stapler.ytmnd.com/
C-C-C-Combo Breaker and "Did he drop any good loot" were my favorites back in the day. [editline]14th March 2012[/editline] Oh, and Lemon Demon.
Remember when they were called "fads"?
Caramelldansen, insta nostalgia.
These aren't really that old, just forgotten now. Fucking Reddit and 9gag is the reason why though. Too many people spew out the "memes" from those sites now in real life.
This is the type of shit I see on my news feed now: And this clip of Ghost represents my thoughts about them.
I wasn't aware that you could just create a meme. Stupid doesn't count as a meme.
What's the one a 0:46 in OP's video? I completely don't remember that one.
What's the one a 0:46 in OP's video? I completely don't remember that one.
Leek Spin/ Lumitamia or something...
memes were funny when they were more or less contained in 4chan, ytmnd, sa, etc. now you can't escape them even outside of the internet [editline]1[/editline] rickroll and troll face were the catalyst
I remember them all I can't believe I thought those were funny, then again, I'll probably look back on myself in 5 years and think "How did I find any of that stuff hilarious?"
I miss Dancing Rocket Man... :(
Just today I saw rage face badges in a store in Mexico. Memes have gotten really popular.
If you want to experience these again just go to YTMND. Nearly every single meme in that video came from there.
Yeah the word meme seems more recent. I don't know what you even called them back then they just didn't really have a name. You just knew what it was
Yeah the word meme seems more recent. I don't know what you even called them back then they just didn't really have a name. You just knew what it was
Like I said, back then they were called fads.
I wouldn't call many of these 'old' so much as just stale.
Wait... are you really to lazy to read the post, and you just saw the avatar and though I was arguing for ponies?
Because memes are fads and the pony fandom is a fad; I think he's trying to point out you're hypocritical. Besides, memes are funny when they're not too over used. Jimmes was one of my favourites until LMAO pics killed it in minutes.
Im suprised that the roxbury guys remakes Aka what is love head bouncing wasnt in there.
While this video is hilarious I didn't know that it was actually a meme.
I think this was the first meme I ever discovered. It was on this crazy website called rw.dk, the logo was a bunch of red text drawn in paint over a picture of some wheelchairs, and my sister showed it to me in the early 00's.
All memes are unfunny. The're like inside jokes, but inside jokes are only funny when your sharing them among a small group of people, once it reaches "meme" status, its not funny anymore. Although the things they come from can be funny, them as memes themselves are stupid.
Memes are "funny" because they are a shared cultural experience that is easily communicated between people. Yea, they grow old after a while, but a meme isn't unfunny as soon as it becomes well known. It becomes unfunny as time goes on. Anyways, that's only for humor memes anyways. Memes that communicate different messages beyond humor tend to have a much longer lifespan.
Yeah the word meme seems more recent. I don't know what you even called them back then they just didn't really have a name. You just knew what it was
I remember the word meme being used in 4chan as far back as 2006
