Because its a Islamic city where I spent a few years learning Arabic and working for internship in a security consultant firm on terrorism. While spending countless hours interviewing and working with women in poorer neighborhoods outside the medina(old city). to find out why the women from these area are chooseing to be fully covered in culture and sect that have never had such practices. Answering these questions and dealing with this spread is the key to leaning how to fight and understand radical Islam and terrorism.
Most of all my religious or lack of religious believes has no bearing on anything.

Well firstly, you begin with a strawman, I never said Saudia Arabia was not Islamic, I said Wahhabism is not a sect, and it is not in the traditional sense. Second, as Muslims always act like you just did when I ask their religious belief, and since you didn't agree you are an atheist, which any atheist would readily do, and try to act like your religion has no bearing on your arguments, I take it you are a Muslim. To be fair, this is meaningless, there isn't really ANY modern religion that doesn't have some part of it that makes it extreme and psychotic to anyone that isn't apart of that religion. All this proves is that like with every religion, extremists are a blight on society and should be shunned whether they be muslim, christian or any other religion.

The Qur'an is not a set of direct commands. It's is up for interpretation. It gives you a set of morals and beliefs to live by and some guidelines to set you on the right path of worship. The Shari'a law in Saudi is used in the most extreme sense while in other muslim countries they deal with a much more forgiving nature, preferring jail time over punishments as harsh.
Misconceptions about Jihad:
"Jihad is only about war and the sacrifice of one's life towards a cause". This is false.
There are two types of Jihad:
-Jihad with Charity and goodwill. The giving of money and spreading goodwill, being an all-around good person to other people.
-Jihad in war. This is only permitted when an actual threat of war comes up and threatens your country, religion or even your local area. To die on the battlefield FOR A JUST CAUSE (Defense of your homeland and religion in the face of an active threat) is considered to be a great honor for a muslim (even any type of soldier fighting for his country would think this).
Suicide (like in Christianity) for any cause is considered one of the greatest of sins and will not be rewarded with 72 virgins.
Taqqiya:
Lying to non-muslims IS ONLY PERMITTED when it is to save your life.
An example is back in Mohammed's time when one of his followers were being tortured by the idol worshipers living in Mecca at the time, they also had his father and mother. They told him to renounce Islam take Hubell (their most famous idol) As his god, he continued to resist until they almost killed his parents at which point he cracked and told them that he renounced Islam. The Idol-worshipers then stopped his torture. Muhammed and his followers then rescued the man at which point the man burst into tears and told Muhammed the story. Muhammed said to him that it was alright for him to lie in order to save his life and his parent's and also told him lying is only permitted to save your life.
I don't know much about extremist beliefs and interpretations of the Qur'an since I distance myself from anything regarding them. All I know is that outside of extremist states such as Saudi Islam is taught to be a religion of tolerance and forgiveness. I'm really saddened that you only see a number of extremists and then apply your impression onto the rest of the populace.
FYI: Saudi guys are fucked up in the head. And not religiously either.
