I want a pet fox :crying:.
Interesting research. When it comes to things like that, genetics are interesting.
I'm surprised no one is wondering why the Soviet Union started a program looking for a gene in which to make a population tame.
I want a pet bear :(
Why didn't they give them more space :ohdear: those animals need miles of territory... I hate to see them locked up all day in such a small cage...
You can actually buy these http://www.sibfox.com/
As awesome as one of those look, its a little cruel to cage them all up just for our personal entertainment
You can actually buy these http://www.sibfox.com/
Nevermind 6000 bucks [editline]06:52PM[/editline] I'd rather take my chances stealing a wild fox cub and trying to raise it.
As awesome as one of those look, its a little cruel to cage them all up just for our personal entertainment
Well, you probably won't cage them if you had them as a pet. But for research, the cages would have to do.
Now I want a pet fox. :3:
It's not like they have them caged for entertainment, they're doing evolution science. Why did soviet research this, btw? Seems scary if they wanted to engineer obedient citizens or something.
I thought selective breeding was already known. You can also breed a very large gold fish if you wanted to.
Goldfish can actually grow to two feet in size. They're so small because their bowls are so small.
I used to have a pet fox. We had to put it down because it had worms in its brain and it kept eating all our cacti. :frown:
Why is she so shocked that the fox bit her? What does she expect after locking them up like that?
Why is she so shocked that the fox bit her? What does she expect after locking them up like that?
Other ones were just as locked, and didn't care.
I forgot how much foxes look like dogs with fluffy tails.
I did a big study project about this not too long ago. Foxes are my favorite animals :3: Also, it appears as though Fennec Foxes are the most popular to have as pets. Just a sample: Also the same guy has a cat as well. The cat almost acts like an older brother who always wants to play. Warning, adorable: http://youtube.com/watch?v=zzenuSaTIfE

Awwwwww =)! So cute
I had a fox following me around the other day. It must have wanted food or something, they're usually afraid of people. Took off every time a car came close :3:
I'm surprised no one is wondering why the Soviet Union started a program looking for a gene in which to make a population tame.
Serenity anyone? As the experiment continues I expect authoritarian governments worldwide to use the knowledge gained to help tame their own population of "foxes".
Want...

They should take the best sized foxes and breed them and market them as the new greatest pet. Give some to a few celebrities to stuff in their bags and they have a goldmine.
