I've never understood the bizarre narrative that Scandinavia/Central Europe is "Socialist". It's free-market as fuck. Having beneficial programs for the general public isn't Marxist

The weenies on the left saying "See they're good because 100% socialismus" and weenies on the right saying "See they're bad because 100% socialismus"
Isn't the capitalist foundation and its utilization of vast natural resources basically what allows for those social policies to be enacted in the first place?
Yes, but instead of it being used for private profit, it's used for the common good.
Isn't the capitalist foundation and its utilization of vast natural resources basically what allows for those social policies to be enacted in the first place?
You are correct. However, universally provided free healthcare and education are traits of socialism, so it would be unfair to call them straight-up capitalist countries. Wikipedia said it better than I could.
Socialist movements of 19th and 20th century practically made those "beneficial programs" (way to understate healthcare, education, work hours, minimum wage......). It is their legacy. Free market isnt proof-of-concept capitalism, it is a part of it, European states are neither capitalist nor socialist. Free Market isnt free anyway, it is very regulated and taxed.
Socialist movements made universal healthcare and other reforms possible, but they are still only reforms to capitalism. Markets, wage labor, production for profit, and capitalist hierarchy didn't go away due to those reforms. Capitalism with regulation and state ownership is still capitalism (even if it runs counter to the ideal view of capitalism that is often presented). That said, the video is shit.
