Nobody except me likes the story of that game, but Sonic Adventure 1. SA2 applies to a lesser extent.
In Sonic Adventure 2’s Hero Story, the cutscene with Prison Island exploding has Tails flying away in his plane. In the Dark Story, however, it does not :tinfoil: What’s the correct version, Sega? [editline]27th August 2017[/editline] I guess Halo 2/3 ODST has some overlap, but only in ODST’s opening.
I don't know how it would work exactly, but a real-time version of the Black Mesa event in like a super-game merging of all 4 perspectives would be an interesting idea. Or perhaps a multiplayer experience where someone's Blue Shift game is linked to someone else's regular Half-Life game but the Resonance Cascade would be the only such time a crossover would happen... Or maybe as the basis of a whole new game, it's probably already been done. A story 'unfolding in real time' has already been done a fair few times but I don't think it's been done with multiple perspectives offered, nor as a co-operative experience. And I mean as a narrative goes on, not just a single battle with two separated players.
Oh god I just realized. The only other game that does this is [sp]Sonic the hedgehog, 2006[/sp]
I wonder how he got all of those announcement messages, are they all in the game somehow and I never realized it?
damn, stuff really got intense after the incident. The sound of the announcements along with warnings, casualties give me chills.
It's something I've never given much attention up until now. The only game that sort of felt like this was Doom 3 when the base goes to shit, but don't know why, its more ominous in HL1. Despite being obviously dated in technological terms, its still such a fantastic game. Either that or I'm just a fan boy.
The idea of having different perspectives makes me want a stealth survival game with Kleiner where you spend most of the incident hiding under desks.
http://combineoverwiki.net/wiki/Black_Mesa_Announcement_System/Quotes [editline]27th August 2017[/editline] Or if you want to listen them instead of reading *vox*
As pointed out by Marphy in the other thread, they're actually Black Mesa's version of the lines.
Alien Isolation style Scientist storyline where you hide and crawl around trying to not be torn apart by Xen creatures or shot on sight by Military.
Finally, the story of Kleiner's escape from Black Mesa.

In Half-Life, you ride past a massive chemical spill with droning, atmospheric music in the background on your way to work in the morning, but everyone's just sort of going about a normal day like nothing but a bunch of irritating tech problems happened, and even after the resonance cascade you're stumbling around in the aftermath as people die all around you horribly. It's actually a good thing they don't immediately throw you into combat after the cascade, because you get to see just how bad everything is getting already before the survival against alien lifeforms truly kicks in and helps emphasize the sheer tragedy unfolding around you. In fact, Half-Life was really good at atmosphere and quiet time, instead of just focusing on death from all around as an arcade-y shooter.
The idea of having different perspectives makes me want a stealth survival game with Kleiner where you spend most of the incident hiding under desks.
Everyone forgets how Kleiner almost blows Alyx's head off with a shotgun in HL2. He escaped from the heart of a facility swarmed with aliens and soldiers. I bet Kleiners killed atleast five men minimum.
Finally, the story of Kleiner's escape from Black Mesa.
That story was already told. It's called Walter's World. He escaped Black Mesa by single handedly pummeling the Administrator's evil army henchmen to death and then ate at KFC. He also once punched John Carmack in the face.
The idea of having different perspectives makes me want a stealth survival game with Kleiner where you spend most of the incident hiding under desks.
Finally, a video game protagonist I can relate to.
I almost kind of like to know what was happening in the area around Black Mesa.
I wonder how this would be with Portal 2. I always wanted to know how big is the Aperture Science facilities. And also how deep down is Cave Johnson's facility as well.
I wonder how this would be with Portal 2. I always wanted to know how big is the Aperture Science facilities.
I almost kind of like to know what was happening in the area around Black Mesa.
the radio chatter in the last half of the video is suggestive if you really pay attention but i'm not sure it's from the original games
How come the marines Gordon kills aren't counted as casualties? Or is that number just for looks? Either way this is very well done and I'm impressed, I know it's hard to get everything just right. I'm very curious and the casualties/rescued tally though. Is there any actual significance to that beyond aesthetics?
HECU and Black Ops that are killed I think are put under Missing at the end.
Oh okay, I haven't watched the end of it yet. This was oddly addicting, I'm surprised I got 30 minutes in to be honest. :v:
Resident Evil 2 and 3 have crossover, and I believe that both Outbreak titles take place during 3 as well? [Sp]Nier Automata as well.[/sp]
Bit of a spoiler for Nier my dude
Bit of a spoiler for Nier my dude
Quoting it doesn't really help
it's not really a spoiler w/o context, i've only played the first hour or so and i've got no clue what spoiler you guys are referring to in Nier
I almost kind of like to know what was happening in the area around Black Mesa.
That actually sounds like perfect hl1 mod material, you play as some hick living out in the desert in a shitty shack, just off of BM land, shooting houndeyes that he thinks are big rats, and killing the go'bment when they try to get on his damn land
True getting Decay to line up would be a right bitch but I'd honestly like to see someone redo this but with Decay in there as well, it'd really give the whole picture.
Well, Decay ends at the time Barney teleports back from Xen, and you could try syncing up with major events in Decay, like the grunts being called in, and when you first see them fly over.

This is some really impressive work. Not only did the uploader made a real time map of the characters, he was also able to count the casualties at each stage of the game. That's some dedication!

Both Green and Cross being on the lower floors of the anti-mass spectrometer then a few other scenes were you see Freeman in the background.

Otherwise it sound like clown noise, like in game when you hump a lock door.
I liked the part where the military radio chatter was talking about a hostile on the roof of a department store
I liked the part where the military radio chatter was talking about a hostile on the roof of a department store
With so many radios going off, someone must have accidentally picked up the police dispatcher.
