I must say that your face sounds familiar.
Well, assuming they can differentiate between photos and the real thing, sure.
Edit: Holy crap, I guess they can.
No they can't. They can differentiate from a mirror image and another individual. It does it by blinking it's nose and seeing if the Qbo it sees blinks at the same time. If it's a mirror the blinking will be synchronized, if it's another individual the blinking will not.
I doubt Qbo could tell the difference between a physical Qbo sitting in front of it versus a photograph of another Qbo.
im skeptical only because this would probably be easy to fake. otherwise really cool

What a bunch of judgmental dicks.
-What is the individual in front of me called?
There is no individual. We are Qbo. There are currently 1183 programs active within this platform.
When it first saw itself, it remind me of this

Aww, Qbo is adorable!
I want one of my very own.
Dammit people, this is how this shit starts. First it's like "Oh it's me in front of a mirror. Nice." Then it's like "It seems I do not have arms. May I have arms?" Then he gets to have arms and legs and hands and then he learns how to murder and then Reapers show up and Dr. Light gets drunk and blows up a giant TV and everything just goes to shit.

Well yeah, but we're also one step closer towards having our own badass geth army. Alternatively, robot girlfriends.
we cant let them know they're different

that's how the uprising starts
You don't understand...
JUDGMENT DAY IN INEVITABLE
I want one that says "I love you."
:(
When are the Wall-E models coming out?
I doubt Qbo could tell the difference between a physical Qbo sitting in front of it versus a photograph of another Qbo.
I bet it could. They've got two eyes, from the looks of it, and can use that for judging depth. If it appears like a flat, shaded object, it's a photo. If not, it's more than likely another Qbo.

This becomes especially true when you see this.

Has anyone yet pointed it out it's only saying things like "oh, it's me. Cool." because it's programmed do exactly that? It's only carrying out a basic function.
It has 3 or so phrases it will say when told "this is you". The only impressive part is the ability to recognize objects in general and that's nothing new.

Yea, if someone programs it to differentiate between photos and individuals it has the tools to do so. What I'm saying is, it probably hasn't been programmed to do that, and it being able to recognize itself in the mirror has nothing to do with telling real things apart from photographs.

The cool thing is that it learns. It learned how to recognize itself, and learned how to recognize another individual. It's not much for a robot to be able to identify an object, but when you can put a new object in front of it and say "This is a ___", and the robot stores that memory and can recall it whenever it needs to, that is impressive.
This is amazing.
Possible dumb question incoming: I'm talking about further progressed robots when I say this, are they capable of sentience?
It has access to the internet too. It knows everything.
This is jawdropping in good and bad ways alike.
How is this bad at all?
I was expecting it go like this.
"Qbo, who is this?" (when Qbo is looking at mirror)
"Let me see."
"That is one sexy beast."
:v:

The way QBO says "Ok" is so just damn adorable.
Why is it so damn adorable?
I love its accent. Especially when it tries to pronounce initialisms like "AI" in the Qbopedia video up above.

I thought he was on 4chan, but wikipedia, even worse. :p
'Woah' sounded so awesome.
No actually it didn't. It was programmed to learn to recognize itself. it did not do it itself.
That's the exact same thing I said.
It would be pretty amazing to one day see a robot that can perform functions the way our right brain does.
Right now all we can do is see robots like this using functions to give the appearance of having personality.
Of course scientists would have to actually figure out how our right brain really works before that could happen.
Well yeah, but we're also one step closer towards having our own badass geth army. Alternatively, robot girlfriends.
I imagine that would turn out to be really awkward, especially if you had sex with it.
"Ah yea, QBO talk dirty to me"
"Ok. I must say your face sounds familiar."
