WRECK IT RALPH 2: Ralph Breaks The Internet Official Trailer
117 replies, posted
The description for the official upload of the trailer says, "[Ralph and Vanellope] must risk it all by traveling to the world wide web in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, Sugar Rush."
Seems this trailer was to just show the new setting. Real excited for it
I remember most people were pretty skeptical too when the first movie's trailers were shown, with most saying it'll most likely be purely fanservice and would rely on video game references left and right. But in the end it was an actually well paced animated film with a great plot and really likable characters that weren't spoiled from the trailers.
It's most likely the same case for here too, since showing the setting and current trend up and front is the best marketing to bring attention to a large audience.
I'm sure this is the extent of the INTERNET AMIRIGHT? jokes that'll be in the movie, as opposed to that being all the Emoji Movie had to offer

'Sale Pending'
So Disney doesn't own it yet, and this would have been decided a long time ago. Probably a year or more
where are the emojis
you can't have the internet without emojis
They already released a Wreck-It-Ralph with emojis
It was the Emoji Movie

I have no idea what's the corporate deals behind this movie but at this point that's what it looks like to me, a bunch of corporate deal more than a movie.
At least the original referenced arcade games that don't even sell anymore and that you could discover through the movie if you weren't too much into that stuff and then play on archive.org for free.
It was stuff that you either had an emotionnal connection and nostalgia with or something you'd discover through the movie.
And the 2nd half of the movie had barely any product placement either, it was just fun plot with the characters and world building they had established.
The first teaser we get of this one is straight up real life brands that have nothing to do with games or the actual way people experience the internet. Sure ebay is on the internet, but it's soo obvious the built the plot around that ebay ad deal, instead of expanding on the universe they already created. They could have made a movie about anything, but yeah instead they go to actual real life ebay and show kids how ebay works, pulling them into a shameless ad with eye candy CG. It's almost malicious, get shaped into a good little consumer from the youngest age, and insanely cynical.
It's just a teaser, ill wait to see more but this just looks like a slighly better emoji movie for me rn.
to be fair, didnt the trailers for the first movie also made it seem like it was another dumb fad cashing in on nostalgia?
Pretty much
I still remember the "ermagherd it's Eggman" and "look it's Call of Dooty" comments.

I'm sure that [del]Pixar[/del] Disney won't go the Emoji Movie 2: Electric Boogaloo route.
Pixar doesn't make Wreck It Ralph
Even after watching the first movie trailers. I feel like the 1st movie still tried to sell it's self better. We get introduced to the main character. We know his motivations. We know why he is doing what he is doing. Here is just seems like "lol internet am I right"
In terms of references. They were mostly all in the start of the movie just to establish the world. This movie seems like the plot was written around these references to try and push products. Huge difference between "Hey having Bowser and Eggman in a bad guy meeting with Ralph. Thats kinda funny" and "Hey lets go to ebay they sell everything on ebay lets show how ebay works so people know how to use ebay"
Has anyone actually seen a Disney teaser trailer before? It's like, really just the most marketable part of the film, and then the film comes out and it's completely different.

i mean hell, does anyone remember the teaser a couple months for the incredibles 2 coming out and everyone being "skeptical" about it being all about jack jack and nothing else?

what i'm saying is this is disney we're talking about. they're putting marketing first and foremost, but their films will almost always dive deeper than their trailers go. i think we're all just a little used to trailers spoiling everything about the films.
(the only exception to the rule in recent history probably has to be wreck it ralph 1, since it's teaser was pretty much just a trailer that actually went deep into the story.)
Whats completely disapointing is also that they completely ditched retro video games tbh, making the plot of the last movie and the whole universe they built for nothing. Its not just the trailers emoji movie vibes.
Im provably more angry than i should be at this but big entertainement has been on a streak of shitting on every piece of fiction I care about lately and i'm just over it.
I feel like I have seen those "haha internet popups get it?" jokes for at least 10 years now
Was that first guy voiced by Fred Tatasciore? (Soldier 76)?
The villain is going to be a shady thing that follows Ralph all over the Internet to suggest new things for him to buy.

is this a toxx
Pretty much. I mean theyre's a "YOUTUBE RED", "IMDB" etc sign, in an universe about pop culture reference. Not the website Youtube, the "Youtube red" subscription deal to avoid getting ads without an ad blocker.
The arcade guy was using an ancient computer tho' - where in time does this take place?

I mean that kid has a tablet, so either his rig is old like him, or we jump forward in time. Anyway, modern internet again.

Shouldn't it be Ralph Wrecks The Internet?
How many layers of irony are they on to use Avicii - Levels for this trailer?

It's an old guy who owns an Arcade, I'm willing to bet that's the joke.
But will there be memes?
Shadman is the final boss of the internet.

That's what I said; I just hope this film won't focus too much on le mobile internet. They've shown nothing of story itself - we know the premise, but I'd like to actually see that in the trailer in place of all the product placement.
Theres going to be a scene where Ralph finds a fan site or some shit with a bunch of other Ralphs hanging out in it.

Im going to guess its going to be something like the old guy loses internet and they become trapped out of the arcade. Phone internet probably saves the day when its plugged into the power bar.
I can imagine the subtitle for this movie in the Always Sunny in Philadelphia title card font

Can't wait for the 'Ralph the Hedgehog' scene
We already have our dystopian virtual social media hell here right now, I really don't need my corporate CG fiction from our Disney overlords to make meta jokes about social medias with virtual anthropomorphised characters, so other corporate overlords can sell more products to millenials through product placement in mainstream entertainement, that's too many levels of cyberpunk for me.
my god when you put it that way all of this shit just leaves a horrible taste in my mouth

While not perfect, I prefer trailers like this to those obnoxious trailers that are essentially the entire movie compressed in 2 minutes complete with every plot twist and major event.
