Also for some context, Rochester is on the shore of Lake Ontario. Because of our proximity to such a large body of water we often get weird or "lake effect" weather that can change very rapidly. So we get weather that changes from raining, to sunny, to a complete blizzard in a 4 hour time span. This is also why we've been getting sweatshirt weather by day and intense snowstorms by night for the past week or so. Not to mention, Rochester is an hour away from the Canadian border so its supposed to be fucking cold here.

And perhaps more specifically the melting of the pole caps affects the salinity gradients of ocean water, which screws up the [url="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermohaline_circulation"]global circulation[/url] of warm and cold ocean currents. Europe and the United States' east coast are gonna get a lot colder when Global Warming messes with the Gulf Stream.
