Doing an Axis campaign is tricky. Americans are pretty sensitive about their veterans, having them being killed in a historical setting would be a marketing hell. It has to be an eastern front campaign imo.
guess that confirms the leaks about playable planes and tank classes
Pretty sure the planes are scorestreaks, and the tank is apparently a payload objective, though you can hop in the machine gun.
noticed world at war style dismemberment... thank FUCK they're bringing that back
I AM getting a lot of World at War vibes, then again, I did really love World at War.
Always found it weird how explicit gore is more okay in older set games than modern WaW had some serious gore, then MW2 didn't and none of the following games did either, then the next WW2 game has people's legs getting blown off again I know BO3 had that one cutscene and stuff, but in the gameplay itself i don't remember much gore I wonder if it's because of shows like Band of brothers that gore and WW2 go hand-in-hand now
Got Russians, French, British/Commonwealth and Americans all fighting in the same battles there. That's a little dissapointing, but not in a way that'll put me off. Would rather armies be limited to the battles they took part in same with the weapons. but like I said that's not a major point that'll stop me buying the game IF it's any good. And given how racially segregated the US army was at the time i'm honestly surprised by the inclusion of black soldiers. Not that I have any problem with their inclusion at all, just was not expecting that at all from CoD even though it's sledgehammer. (that being said, iirc Finest hour had you play as african american tankers so they have done it before)
I hope those gunsounds are placeholders because some of them sound very, very weak. The garand and some of the machineguns especially.
You can't really go into CoD nowadays and hope for strong sounds. [editline]13th June 2017[/editline] I'm hoping they up the player count in some of the new modes.
A full Axis campaign it's a huge beast to tackle. The African and French theaters are "noble" and can be portrayed in a somewhat neutral way. The latest stages of the war, such as Market Garden or the battle for castle Itter, can even be portrayed in a sympathetic way. Anything else, though, will be a lot harder to chew. The Battle of Britain did involve the direct bombing of civilian areas. A Normandy scenario from the point of view of the Axis defenders is gonna raise a lot of flags. And don't get me started on trying to portray the Eastern Front in a neutral way. And forget about the Pacific theater. You're gonna catch flak for all sides. Individual scenarios, brief but meaningful glimpses on "the other side of the coin", though? A mini-campaign focused on the Axis might work like that. But don't expect a complete campaign.
Or they could pull another 'No Russian' and have you gun down civilians in Ukraine or something.
Or they could pull another 'No Russian' and have you gun down civilians in Ukraine or something.
No Russian, as shocking as it might have been to some, does not depict a real event in a real war. WW2 did happen. It is grounded firmly in a reality that did happen and thus any fight you depict is going to have people saying "My 'x relative' died there". It's a touchy subject, moreso that No Russian could ever be. As I have said before, an Axis Campaign could work, but I would not trust CoD to handle it maturely enough because it's audience does not care for it.
