There's gonna be a second round of mob psycho so whoever missed the chat can probably catch it then hopefully.

Good reminder that Tanya still doesn't have a season 2. Was silly looking at Twitch chat shouting genocide and loli hitler though.
Waiting for second seasons of animes is one of my favourite hobbies.
Good reminder that Tanya still doesn't have a season 2. Was silly looking at Twitch chat shouting genocide and loli hitler though.
still? it hasnt even been half a year since it ended
Waiting for second seasons of animes is one of my favourite hobbies.
You must be a masochist then. All the good shows never get second seasons because the Japanese have terrible taste. Well, I guess I should re-phrase that actually. Most of the shows I like a lot never get 2nd seasons. [editline]29th July 2017[/editline]
still? it hasnt even been half a year since it ended
It has only be a month or two so hasn't it?
It has only be a month or two so hasn't it?
it was a 2017 winter season show so it's been 4 or so months
it was a 2017 winter season show so it's been 4 or so months
Oh yeah that's right. I forgot I watched it a season late.
the anime currently on is about a battalion commiting genocide atrocities against civillians, a guy who is fighting a belief in god who was reincarnated into a 10 year old orphan girl as punishment for not believing, and general warfare in a fake WW1 Germany The one coming up after this one is about spies in WWII define mature anime

Good reminder that Tanya still doesn't have a season 2. is it weird if I really hated Dragon Maid but enjoyed Joker Game?
still? it hasnt even been half a year since it ended
Oh wow, it felt i haven't watched Tanya for ages, i thought it was mid 2016 :v:
dragon maid isn't that bad tbh it has good episodes
The issue with that anime is that everyone is a god damn lesbian in it, minus the busty girl who is into little boys.
The issue with that anime is that everyone is a god damn lesbian in it, minus the busty girl who is into little boys.
Fafnir and Takiya are totally gay for each other, they're just such fucking nerds they literally can't tear themselves away from games long enough to fuck.
The issue with that anime is that everyone is a god damn lesbian in it
how is that an issue?
The issue is that they are god damn lesbians, and with that I mean they are blatantly thirsty for each other for the sake of fanservice.
I'm not exactly an avid anime watcher, but I've seen animes like Death Note and Shingeki No Kyojin, with a more serious artwork and tone (for whatever reason people have an hate boner for SnK?). Anywhom, I'm kinda suprised there aren't any more "mature" animes in there, atleast judging by the titles (and from knowing one or two). Do they not have the license to any of those? (Cowboy Beebop, Death Note, Ghost in the Shell, etc.)
To give a bit more of a serious reply: Because Seinen don't sell as well as Shonens and similar shows. Merchandising is what sells many shows and it's a bit harder to sell when it's Seinen related instead of reaching the younger audience. That's my thought, I obviously don't know exactly how it goes with licensing anime for streaming services. If you are looking for "mature" stuff, look into manga. Homunculus, anything by Junji Ito, Berserk, Vagabond for example. And if you haven't seen it yet, One Punch Man. It's also a Seinen and rather successful due to its great core idea.

Unless having someone outwardly show affection over someone they love is fanservice now, I have no clue what you're talking about [editline]30th July 2017[/editline]
To give a bit more of a serious reply: Because Seinen don't sell as well as Shonens and similar shows. You could argue about it with shounen and shoujo because they have tropes and other genre defining aspects but seinen can range from gritty edgy crime thrillers to cute girls fucking around in a classroom
Seinen isn't a real genre. You could argue about it with shounen and shoujo because they have tropes and other genre defining aspects but seinen can range from gritty edgy crime thrillers to cute girls fucking around in a classroom
Seinen just means for an older audience. It describes a demographic, nothing else. K-On is seinen. Would you put K-On in the same "genre" as, say, Monster? If you're trying to use it as shorthand for "mature anime for mature viewers such as myself" you're going to have a bad time.
Isn't that the definition of seinen? Having a mature approach to something? Shonens are aimed younger people, Seinen at adults? I would classify something like cute girls fucking around in a classroom as a Seinen because it would definitely not be something for kids to watch. I always find Seinen on the "genre" tabs for various anime/manga related sites and just assumed it on one level as Shonens and Shojo, describing the age and gender of the audience it is aimed at, while having subgenres of them being divided into Supernatural, thriller, action, horror that actually define what the product is actually about.
Seinen is something intended for young adult males. I don't think it's a particularly useful term outside of magazines(which target specific demographics) because the term encapsulates a vast variety of subject matter that if you try to search for something you can get just about anything under the sun
is it weird if I really hated Dragon Maid but enjoyed Joker Game?
The latter not really, as apparently the Japanese actually really enjoyed Joker Game. It gets its unanimous dislike from the western fans.
is it weird if I really hated Dragon Maid but enjoyed Joker Game?
I can't say anything about joker game but I found dragon maid quite boring too. I don't get why people rave over it like my IRL friend does. Youjo Senki/Saga of Tanya is one of my favourite shows despite it's glaring flaws. Fingers crossed for another season of misunderstandings. I think it did quite well so it's a possibility.
The latter not really, as apparently the Japanese actually really enjoyed Joker Game. It gets its unanimous dislike from the western fans.
Joker Game is a vehicle for a cast of A-list voice actors, aka "those guys you hear in every anime ever". You can sell pretty much anything if you cram a bunch of popular VAs into it. I'd be very surprised if it was popular for any other reason.
The problem with dragon maid for me is that they get sentimental too often. The more absurd, the better dragon maid was for me.
I should have specified. I didn't mean to sound pretentious. I meant the artstyle. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood seems like an awesome anime but their faces turning into chibi shit really pisses me off. I honestly don't mean to come off as pretentious, sorry if I did. I used those three as examples since they're the ones I know of with an artstyle that doesn't look like it has ADHD. This grinds my gears to no end. SnK, Cowboy Beebop, etc. to my knowledge doesn't have these complete changes in artstyle to appeal to younger audiences (or a bad attempt at comedy?).
That ain't chibi. If you're that annoyed by that then have fun never watching most anime since even "serious" shows do it from time to time.
Oh. Well, that's a shame. I don't know, I just hate it, it just doesn't feel right. I know it's drawn, it's not supposed to be realistic, and there are plenty of other unrealistic things, but when you're in a situation that's super serious (I'm thinking of naruto in this case, which I'm aware isn't exactly the Citizen Kane of anime), like say, a battle, it feels wrong to have the character make these exaggerated faces. That's of course not to say that just the faces take away merit. It's like I said, I watched a bit of Fullmetal Alchemist and I liked it, but the character couldn't keep the same type of face (as in, not turn into that exaggerated expression, not always anger ofc, not chibi but I don't know what it's called) for more than a few minutes, that just kind of kills the seriousness for me you know? I could just have preconceptions of anime that are clouding my vision, what with the "anime is trash lol meme", but atleast for me, what kills it is usually those abrupt transitions in faces and artstyle. But obviously it's a serious and respected art-form. Were it not, it wouldn't have the huge following it has. Maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about. I'd like to think I do, but obviously I'm wrong atleast in some aspect. It's just that almost all the anime I've experienced has that, above being a Shonen, which just has that general message of "friendship wins above all". I'm not looking to start a fight, and do correct me if I'm wrong, but it just gets boring, anime after anime essentially boils down to the good guys, generally a bunch of friends who become closer throught the wacky adventure beating the bad guys, after which they generally even JOIN the good guys. Whatever the case, I didn't mean to offend anyone and I'm not supporting the "anime is trash lol" meme, because I think it's dumb to discard an entire artform because of a few bad apples. However, my vision is clouded because of experiencing said bad-apples, so please excuse any rude or just incorrect statements I have made.
I feel the same about Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, it was nice to watch but it keeps shifting tone with the seemingly random exaggerated yelling sequences that it's sometimes hard to take it seriously when it tries to be more serious than that. From what I can gather you're just not into shonen stuff since it has a tendency to devolve into the tropes you've just described. That said, FMA is still a shonen, and there's plenty of stuff that doesn't have this problem. Shows like Evangelion or Steins;Gate (which does have humorous parts, but they feel less like a drastic tonal shift since they're worked into the story in a good way) might be more up your alley.

I can't name any off the top of my head since I prefer comedies, but only REALLY serious shows don't indulge in exaggerated faces and such.
words
you know what, just skip anime altogether and ascend to manga read Blame! if you want a story that's quite... serious, among a lot of other things and if you like it then read Biomega as well if you still insist on anime then go for Ergo Proxy, Texhnolyze, Serial Experiments Lain and such
I keep hearing about the Dragon Maid anime. I got some chuckles from the clips, but is it good for a good binge?

Your profile gif goes so well with this.
