Trust me I don't like the TSA anymore than you do. I'm simply trying to point out why this is happening. It's not because these people are perverts.
I don't get it. People don't mind medical examinations by doctors, but some how this is unacceptable?
It's still a professional examination in a professional environment, I don't see why people are up in arms.
Except doctors examine you in the privacy of their office, not in public.

I know they aren't perverts but that is not the point at all. The point is they violate the fourth amendment.
I think it's time that some TSA agents were arrested. I'm not saying brand them sex offenders for the rest of their lives but something needs to be done.
Flying is not a right though.
Nor is driving - but do you think people would stand for it if they had to be searched like this before they were able to enter a bus or a car?

That wouldn't be fair. They are trying to do their jobs - it's their policies.

You're nuts.
That wouldn't be fair. They are trying to do their jobs - it's their policies.
Doesn't work that way. TSA doesn't take away free will from their employees. Policy isn't what took that kid's clothes off, the employees did. Stop passing the buck.
If I was in that airport I would have phoned the police.

So a hit man shouldn't be held accountable for murder since he was "just doing his job?"
That excuse isn't good enough.
They choose to apply for the job. They choose to do the job. They are just as responsible for this as their employers.

Alright, I get it now. I thought you meant just in general. If it was anyone else but the government doing this it would be ok. Well, maybe not morally ok, but it would be constitutionally ok.

That's a little convoluted. You can't seriously think that these people wanted to feel up children.
We need to stop basing our safety measures off of what "could" happen and focus on what "has" happened. No child has been used as a suicide bomb on an airplane.
That wouldn't work in any way. Basing all security on what has, would mean certain (race) groups would get a free ticket for a strip search, and since security is focusing on the past, the terrorists would just have to change a few details like age, nationality, or religion and they would get acess to another attack.

One is to ensure you're healthy, the other is because of security. Security has to choose who to search, so choosing wrong subjects, that aren't very dangerous, or had their danger based on factors the subject isn't in control of, just gets the news onto their ass (people are up in arms, because the boy could have been given just a pat-down, because further actions are unecesary).
Everyone has to go through this since some terrorist tried setting off a plastic bomb in his underwear according to the news.

Again, it's not that they are feeling up children, it is that they are supporting the TSA.

This came to mind
How come when someone is searched they never get a hot chick but instead a big ugly dude.
Because then it wouldn't be molestation.
How come when someone is searched they never get a hot chick but instead a big ugly dude.
Because it has to be done by a person of the same sex.

My paedo-metre just exploded.

They have free will to a certain degree, but they also have to perform their duties to what their policy states, otherwise they face termination.
You might say, well being fired is better than strip searching someone, and I agree, but they're not doing it because they feel like it.
They don't have the guilty mindset (mens rea) to be charged with a crime.
So a hit man shouldn't be held accountable for murder since he was "just doing his job?"
Ridiculous comparison.
They choose to apply for the job. They choose to do the job. They are just as responsible for this as their employers.
Socially maybe, legally, no. There would be thousands prosecuted for "just doing their job".
Cops are often not accountable for a murder that wasnt right.

Does America not have a labour board that you can report ethical violations to? Once you file a grievance your employer can't fire you until the investigation has concluded.

Probably something like that, but that would require every TSA agent to do it. Doubt it would happen.

:downs: How the hell did you even reply then.
I agree why is this such a big deal? an adult could easily trick a young boy into strapping a bomb to himself.
Not a White adult.
But wait what if a girl hid drugs in a plastic bag and stuck it up her vagina.
:smug:
I don't understand the point of going through all those scanners and shit if they're just going to strip search you right after you go through...
I don't understand the point of going through all those scanners and shit if they're just going to strip search you right after you go through...
I don't understand either.

?
You only get an "assisted search" if you choose to opt out of naked scan. And the assisted search doesn't involve taking off your clothes - I have no idea why the kid has his stuff off.
Also, at the moment, only certain people are selected for the new scan thing.
The kid didn't want to be Touched in certain areas "wink" "wink"
Really.
