So a game version of this
Were you being buried at the end??? :ohno:
A lot of emphasis lies in the AI of your neighbour who is supposed to study your tactics and predict what you do next. He is able to use items to further protect his house and his basement. It's kinda like Alien Isolation in your neighbour's house.

- The longer you play the more intelligent the AI gets - They put a lot of work into the AI and are rather proud of it
But will the horror game AI be able to defeat its archnemesis, the table?
Wish we could fight the guy off though. My biggest complaint about these first person horror games is that we usually can't fend for ourselves.
This is what turned me off to Anmesia. I get the appeal of "you have to trick your enemy!" but I'd rather be rewarded for beating my enemy via brains, but still have the option for brawn, if need be. Way less frustrating.
That guy sure barricaded his house like it was nothing.
It's almost as if you're the bad guy - breaking into his house, smashing his windows, etc. Just let the serial killer be, geez.
Oh man, I love that art style.

There's something great about loud footsteps in a horror game.
Art style reminds me of a Tim Burton movie. That or Monster House.
Art style reminds me of a Tim Burton movie. That or Monster House.
It's the dude's morbidly obese dead wife in the basement.
Once you reach the basement door and open it, the camera just pulls itself back through the house, then goes to circle above the neighborhood to eventually fade to black and say 'congratulations! You finished the game!' and start you in a new neighborhood.
For some reason this reminds me of that game someone from Facepunch was developing about 4(?) years ago. Not sure if it ever got released. Something to do with randomized items in your house and getting prepared for night. Any one remember what it was called?
Royzo was awesome. I miss him.
Whatever happened to him? He was a constant poster and a wonderful dude and all of a sudden he fucking left everything with no such goodbye message; Facepunch was a place that he loved dearly, where did he go? Like, did he actually die IRL?

I signed up for the alpha of this game two days ago. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I somehow get accepted. This is the kind of horror thriller game I'd love to play. Not to mention the concept art for this game and the style is fucking bomb: [t]https://static.wixstatic.com/media/27364e_2036d29717de4332866b74a20e0494ad.jpg/v1/fill/w_1364,h_767,al_c,q_90,usm_0.66_1.00_0.01/27364e_2036d29717de4332866b74a20e0494ad.jpg[/t] [t]https://static.wixstatic.com/media/27364e_8f3f793f197c40a9b74202ba4362a714.jpg/v1/fill/w_1385,h_767,al_c,q_90,usm_0.66_1.00_0.01/27364e_8f3f793f197c40a9b74202ba4362a714.jpg[/t] [t]https://static.wixstatic.com/media/27364e_de05ee08a6e8415992d6a7397520ec02.jpg/v1/fill/w_1319,h_730,al_c,q_90/27364e_de05ee08a6e8415992d6a7397520ec02.jpg[/t]
How sweet, he's chopping up strawberries for his pet birds.
it wont look like this just sayin the real game will have half of what you see here
hello, games
The door opens, but you are not met with a basement filled with bodies or of men or women tied and captured that you once thought, but you are met with a dark and damp basement filled with pure horror. Creatures of flesh and morbid shapes lurk and scamper across the wet concrete floor. Your eyes soon fill with complete dread and despair as you witness the denizens of the great unknown. As your mind deteriorates to pure insanity, you quickly turn around to be greeted by the neighbor, who is now a creature of twisted flesh and gore. "I warned you..." he whispers to you silently. With a violent shove, you tumble down into the dark basement. Only to be devoured by the living nightmares that dwell in it.
It looks fantastic in concept, but so did that game with baby trying to kill itself and the dad trying to prevent it. I haven't heard any news on that game. And I know I beat a dead horse with this, but, No Mans Sky has ruined developer promise for me, so I remain skeptical up until I read user reviews.
I laughed when he just went fucking ape and chucked a chair straight through the window to get out 1/2 a second faster :v:

It appears to be getting updates frequently. http://steamcommunity.com/games/427730/announcements/
I laughed when he just went fucking ape and chucked a chair straight through the window to get out 1/2 a second faster :v:
This is the sort of emergent gameplay I hope AI will be capable of
Instead of being able to defend yourself, I just think it would be neat if you could shove your neighbor since you're not trying to kill the guy, but you're just trying to find out what's in his basement. Being able to shove would make you think about your surroundings since you want to buy yourself more time, not push the guy into the kitchen to make him angrier and put him closer to the knives. Or you could push him into the shed and lock it which will give you a lot of extra time to get away but now he has access to all of his gardening equipment
Tbh AI that learns is the biggest thing I've wanted to see the results of in games
Remember that whole Quake III Arena hoax? The one where the guys said the bots realized the only way to not die was not to move or shoot? Too bad it was fake. I can't wait to see this guy learn so much to realize that the only way to win is to find and kill the player :v:

Then have it be random if he actually did anything illegal or not. Would really add in another layer to this game, and would definitely make your options more interesting.
