They asked Disney and Youtube for comment. That's pretty much all they did directly.
Youtube dropped a show they were making with pewdiepie and removed him from some affiliate program, and disney cut ties with him. They did that on their own after the news of what kind of jokes he was telling went viral.
i must have mixed that up with the advertisers pulling out.

I mean they aren't entirely dissimilar events, and the advertiser drama began like a month later. So it's p. understandable

The guy who wrote the hitpiece was apparently someone with ties to the adpocalypse, don't remember the details right now but I definitely remember some shit like that.
Can people really not comprehend that someone could just say nigger randomly outloud out of frustration?
Well I mean yeah because racial slurs are never in my vocabulary because I'm not and never was racist, either by belief or for the sake of being edgy. Why is the word in any streamer's vocabulary unless they're either racist or purposefully edgy?
He used the word as a directed insult at a person. It's hard to say it was totally innocent.

The more time you spend immersed in unmoderated dialog-- gaming chat, online message boards, etc.-- the easier it is for that behavior to rub off I think. And when your only exposure of the word is predominantly anonymous ( usually white ) people using it to insult each other in the rudest way possible, that's how you're going to use it.

One of the same guys wrote about both. But that's what you'd expect from someone who mostly writes articles about alphabet based companies.

it seems jim started to hide comments he disagrees with. Several that were calm discussions magically vanished and only appear if you have a direct link to show the comment chain

So his smug cunt character isn't just a character?
What a shock.

Youtube's comment algorithms are pretty weird too. I wouldn't automatically assume malice.
I don't even know if creators have that ability to just hide them away without deleting them.
He should let this "character" of his die. It's just become an absolute cringe-fest watching him now... especially once you realize that most of his rants are about maybe 3-4 different issues, over and over and over.
I used to kinda enjoy his videos (most of 'em), but now the second I hear that cocky, sarcastic voice, I want to smash something.
Why would he let his "character" die when it makes him $12,000+ per month on patreon? I mean sure, you could say people also support him on patreon for his reviews and podcasts, but given how many people support him with their money and not just their views (of which he's been getting 400k+ per jimquisition lately), and he's making more every month, it seems silly that he would scrap it especially if he enjoys doing it. They're also the most popular videos on his channel. If people wanted just jim and not his jimquisition persona, wouldn't that be the opposite, less views per jimquisition and more for his reviews and jimpressions videos?
Personally, I love his videos, and I love the character he plays. I also listen to his podcasts and support him on patreon. Sure, his videos are a bit hit and miss sometimes, what youtuber doesn't make mistakes now and then? The whole Pewdiepie rant may have been a big miss, but the first half of the video was spot-on.

deleting the first comment in the comment chain is what he has done. it appears removed to everybody unless you have a link to the comment chain or are logged in to the account that posted it.

His "character" always struck me as an exaggerated form of his real self. His acting ability wasn't good enough for it to be anything else. That might be why I always found his content insufferable.
