Really like how it looks so far, can't wait for it to come out.
Actually, I wonder how the AI will handle the techweb. Beyond Earth seems so open with civ development that it'd be hard to get an AI to research good techs without assigning some predefined path.
Eh, it looks like a reskin of Civ 5
Don't really like the mottled look of the terrain. I've seen a couple hex based Alpha Centauri that have the same look as well. I know it's supposed to be an alien world, but it just kind of off to me.
Eh, it looks like a reskin of Civ 5
yeah well aesthetically that's true! though that's it!
Not true at all. In Civ5, diplomacy wasn't straight up black and white and plenty of civs would be besties with you for centuries until they decide your undefended capitol and far-away army were a great opportunity to finally get a bit of marble. Also in Beyond Earth, they've even expanded on the subtleties even more. You can do things like agitate alien nests near a player you might not like, leading them to attack him which will obviously make them a little pissed.
I don't know, last game I had a Celtic group rage war on everyone for no reason with only a single town and no standing army.
The problem with Civ V is that the AI isn't necessarily intelligent. Going above "Prince" doesn't make the enemy any smarter: it just gives them cheats. That's not how it should work.
The AI in civ is terrible they use no tactics, really all you need to defend a city is one archer unit and walls. Then just target melee units which are the only ones that can capture cities. I just rush wonders and then buy an archer unit if i get in trouble. Its easy.
Eh, it looks like a reskin of Civ 5
While you may be right to a degree, I feel as if additions such as more fleshed out quests, affinities, the tech web, orbital layers, different biomes, and aliens will make a very profound impact on how the game is played. It all depends on what you're expecting. There's also a good couple months for them to add more as well. Plus it's been said that you can choose the equipment and people you start with, and you can perform more subtle espionage and diplomacy, which is another difference from Civ5
I want this
I love how the leaders visually represent the path their culture is taking.
I always thought it was pretty immersion-breaking when Ghandi was wearing the same robe for 6,000 years
one of the weird features I miss from older Civ games was the Throne Room in Civ 2. There's never really been anything like that, and it wasn't really worth anything, but i don't know, I just liked it I guess.
There's a mod for that on the workshop
