didn't the main dev of NMS describe the multiplayer something like 'we have it set up under the small possibility that you meet another player; that you are in your own little server lobby bubble that has the capability to see other people if the small chance happens, and vice versa' IIRC
People on Facepunch are way too optimistic about No Man's Sky!
It's not even released yet! Yet most of you still play Minecraft and w/e.
Think about it like this way:
Elite Dangerous with procedural sounds, music, creatures - animals, space whales, whales that can walk on land, plants, trees, structures, caves, rivers, spacecrafts, planets with content, floating islands and more!
Gather resources for ship upgrades, multi-tool upgrade, destroy nature, get space police after you!
Find creatures like this:

Travel the procedural solar systems and galaxy to find your friend that is on the other side of the galaxy!
:D
It's become very fashionable to be cynical about this game. So I'm going to be particularly edgy and be cynical about the cynicism. It seems to now be more of a bandwagon than a health skepticism. Sure be wary but at least wait for it to come out before you decry it as terrible.
I'm gonna take another step on that edge there and be cynical about the cynical cynicalism
90% of the time when someone complains about a bandwagon they just can't get over there being some people who don't like the thing they like
Hello Games wants to incorporate more multiplayer content later!
For free!

Also you can walk on space stations aswell.
As Totalbiscuit once said, any game good or bad is ALWAYS more fun with friends.
That's just wrong, honestly. I think this game probably would be, but we'll see regarding that. There's definitely a lot of games which are better as a single player experience, though.
As Totalbiscuit once said, any game good or bad is ALWAYS more fun with friends.
There are plenty of games I have a better time playing by myself than with friends, but I'm also a pretty introverted person.

Do you even know what the definition of optimistic is? :v:
Anyway, what you described can be very fun indeed but this comes down to the same thing what Starbound originally was going to be. Everything 101% randomly generated from the planets to the create and villages. In the end the planet generation wasn't very interesting, the underground caves were small and terrible and creatures were not really randomly generated at all.
There needs to be some solid gameplay because randomly generated stuff is not going to keep me playing, the game itself needs to offer lots of cool shit (without getting frustrated with finding resources or something because i can imagine the algorithm for randomly generating stuff might be a bit on/off at launch)

I agree with everything there except for space whales. That's a thing that has been discussed but nobody has confirmed space creatures to be in the game.

Starbound ended up failing because their generation doesn't make for an interesting experience. Watch that Nucl.Ai talk that I posted and you'll see the different things they've done for generation.
Also, starbounds flora and fauna are made of sprite-pieces randomly put together with some palette swapping thrown in for good measure, very primitive compared to how NMS flora and fauna is generated.

But that's the point. I don't know if I like or dislike it yet as all we've seen is promotion. People are being way too negative about an unreleased game. I think I'd be like this if I thought people were being overly positive as well.

Also it's not like you can't easily spot the difference between those on a bandwagon and those who have legitimate issues with what has been shown.
This game needs a "One Piece".
Some sort of end goal treasure or whatever. Right now it just looks about as fun and engaging as Elite: Dangerous.

Well the center could be anything.
It could even be a boat.

I'm not an paid promoter, I wish I were, But I ain't forcing nobody to play this game when it releases.
Just trying to make a decent point over what people's expectation is. I've followed this game long and know the features and stuff.
Space whales may not be in the game, but they might add some easter egg for it since everyone has been joking about it
lets just say I am very enthusiastic
They seem to be very irritated by the fact that people want co-op in their game.
I'll never understand this mentality. They are losing sales by purposely denying people what they want. This was a sure-thing day one purchase for me until I found out how much they hate Co-Op. Maybe I'll pick it up in month or two when it's $10.

I'll never understand this mentality. How are they denying you anything? They simply never worked on the features you want, they worked on things that they wanted to put in their game.
Sure, don't buy the game, nobody is twisting your arm. Acting like you are somehow entitled to co-op is ridiculous though.

Ive yet to be cynical of this game but jesus this interview makes it sound like a drag
yeah theres a lobby system but forget seeing anyone else or being connected to the same area as your friends
haha we're so secretive our model doesnt let you know if your character is human or alien or not
god, this should've been done like the idea that got it popular in the first place, 3D starbound
singleplayer with minecraftish cells for the planets and a servers system. Also customized characters. Reading this I have no idea what they're thinking anymore
edit:
I mean honestly if I can't play with my friends why should I have to play with some dickhead that's almost certainly just going to shoot me on sight like in EVERY survival game
I still have the very strong feeling that it will end up with the same problems Elite Dangerous has.
Lots of space but it will only be fun for some time until you seen everything and that 18 something quitillion or whatever will be meaningless.
Even if it has a few extra things that are generated it will be the same thing just slightly different variation unless they really have a fuck ton of base stuff which are things generated from.

Make your own game, then? Or wait for the game to actually comes out and see what people make of the developers' ideas in practice.

lol yeah lemme just pull 3D starbound out of my ass
you're being ridiculous in defense of a game you consistently repeat the "its not even out!" point for.
if a guy's saying retarded shit on an interview I'm allowed to criticize them.
"stop having opinions" fucking childish

The NMS generation system doesn't just put asset pieces together, the "pieces" themselves can have virtually infinite variations generated. I'm not very good at explaining it. You should watch the Nucli.Ai talk by one of the Hello Games programmers that explains it pretty nicely.

They never ever said the game was 3D starbound. That's your own dumb fault for overhyping yourself.
He's not saying ~retarded shit~, either, this interview was taken at a time where people were blowing up the man's social media with "omg you're jesus you made the ultimate game!!", so he wanted to calm people's expectations because this is still just an indie game made by 13 devs and the team was half that size when development started.

Really though? How is whining about the absence of a feature that was never planned to begin with a valid criticism? If you want a game with all the features you want, direct your own game.
You're not entitled to control how a creator creates their work.
"overhyping" lol what the hell
you almost became self aware. I'm definitely not overhyping anything
Gotta agree to be honest??
Like how come Left 4 Dead didn't have 5 or 6 survivors instead of 4? Fuckin' really stupid if you ask me.
They are losing sales by purposely denying people what they want. They could make more money if they just added what I want?? Safe to say I won't be buying Left 4 Dead 3!!!!!!!!

procedural generated planets, online capability, and survival weren't planned features?
what game is this

You seemed to have overhyped yourself due to the fact you were under the impression this game would be a 3D starbound and now you're crying a river because it isn't and was never advertised as such.
I'm not crying you're just being an inflammatory asshole because I didn't hop on the hyping circlejerk
Edit:
"Gee I dunno about this, haven't seen any reason to dislike it yet but this interview doesn't sound like what people were talking about and he's saying pretentious things like mysterious player model"
"MAKE YOUR OWN GAME GRRR ITS NOT EVEN OUT YET WHY AREN'T YOU IN LOVE >:(("
You guys honestly do sound like shills being dicks to people who don't say they blindly love this game
