Ill never know how Reddit became so popular when its layout is so fucking horrible.
here's my 2 cents it's really disgusting that there are people who genuinely believe shit like "ugh feminism is bad, if a girl says she doesn't want to have sex anymore when you're trying to get out of the friendzone you'll get put in jail!!!! fuck women" or "women are not equal to men because biology." i mean, holy shit, also the fact that they use a few extreme cases of radical feminists to dismiss the entire feminist movement. news flash, MRA nerdos: you can be a feminist and not be a crazy topless FEMEN putin-attacking lady, you can be a normal person. hell, i'm a feminist, and i'm a dude. look at the definition for "feminism."
The advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men.
equality is the key word here. every human being should be given the rights that everyone else has, regardless of bogus dismissive reasoning like "it's always been this way" or "you're not as strong because of biology" or "there's not enough of you in this profession." if you go on and preach about "feminazi" shit, you're pretty much an idiot. a handful of radical people does not represent an entire group, facepunch of all people should know this. [editline]25th May 2013[/editline]
funnily enough (sadly enough?) the rape victim he intentionally tried to trigger on reddit actually turned out to be a man http://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/pfejx/i_love_how_the_whiny_feminist_morality_brigade/c3p2bxu
imo that doesn't really matter. the fact that he would say the stuff he said to a rape victim still stands, regardless of who was behind the keyboard.
imo that doesn't really matter. the fact that he would say the stuff he said to a rape victim still stands, regardless of who was behind the keyboard.
I know, it's just the fact that he's an MRA. He also seemed to back off a bit once he realised it was a guy.
I know, it's just the fact that he's an MRA. He also seemed to back off a bit once he realised it was a guy.
that pretty much solidifies the fact that he's an assumptive prick
This guy is a psychopath indeed, but also makes good points.
This guy is a psychopath indeed, but also makes good points.
he really doesn't
the people who dislike him because of that Banana incident should watch this.
We dislike him for the things he says, not what is in his ass, although the two are often indistinguishable.
We dislike him for the things he says, not what is in his ass, although the two are often indistinguishable.
I think we've learned that Doodle is either A; In complete denial B; trolling
Hey look more sexism debate.....
lol ITT insult TAA and look at some stupid shit he's said as opposed to counter arguments yeah he's an asshole, does that make his points in the video wrong? seems like he's responding to whoever made the awful list, and showing how little that kind of shit actually helps feminism he was wrong to address it to all feminists, but his arguments do apply to the stupid tumblr feminists and their attempts to spread their opinion
If you want to make a difference, join a women's rights movement in a place like the middle east where they fight for simple human rights. If you like arguing about trivial shit, be a feminist.
he was wrong to address it to all feminists, but his arguments do apply to the stupid tumblr feminists and their attempts to spread their opinion
so what who cares saying "BUT TUMBLR FEMINISTS" gives no credibility btw, when you say feminist you dont get to cherry pick people in order to serve your argument, thats called being intellectually dishonest [editline]25th May 2013[/editline]
If you want to make a difference, join a women's rights movement in a place like the middle east where they fight for simple human rights. If you like arguing about trivial shit, be a feminist.
what world do you live in where women's rights movements and feminism are two different things excuse me if you knew anything AT ALL about what youre posting about you wouldnt say this rofl
lol ITT insult TAA and look at some stupid shit he's said as opposed to counter arguments yeah he's an asshole, does that make his points in the video wrong?
Saying stupid shit in the past shouldn't necessarily invalidate someones point but in the AAs case it should. Specifically with feminist issues, considering how he actually does appear to be some sort of misogynist. [editline]25th May 2013[/editline] Any one remember his Amanda Todd stuff
Man TAA got bad after he first started doing this feminism shit and then the bananas and just ugh Honestly it's worse than that old British atheist guy that all of the sudden started ragging on Muslims specifically
If you want to make a difference, join a women's rights movement in a place like the middle east where they fight for simple human rights. There needs to be a better way to differentiate between mainstream feminism which upholds equality and stupid/radical feminism which demands the castration of men and upholds that females are superior. Using the term FEMinism also doesn't make sense for an equality movement since it implies that only women are disadvantaged in society.
im sorry that using your brain to differentiate them isnt convenient for you, the problem is that the media is dismissive about feminism because almost all serious feminists are intensely critical of the media thus they get hostility in response most notable of that being the ERA movement where the ERA side was incredibly unfairly demonized and construed to be full of "bra-burning men-castrating lesbians" which mobilized hardline conservative lobbyists, even tho nothing in the ERA was anywhere close to that. its the same shit today, from planned parenthood to abortion rights. for w/e reason its considered socially acceptable to say feminists want to castrate men or are female supremacists, which isnt removed whatsoever from the same group of idiots who said civil rights for black people was going to lead to white genocide and "negrocracy", the only difference being that the latter is not socially acceptable to say [editline]25th May 2013[/editline]
Using the term FEMinism also doesn't make sense for an equality movement since it implies that only women are disadvantaged in society.
literally a semantic argument.
There needs to be a better way to differentiate between mainstream feminism which upholds equality and stupid/radical feminism which demands the castration of men and upholds that females are superior. Using the term FEMinism also doesn't make sense for an equality movement since it implies that only women are disadvantaged in society.
1. feminists that advocate castration of men and uphold that females are superior aren't feminists they're sexist psychopaths. if you're completely incapable of not generalizing an entire ideology/movement based on some stories of crazy people you heard on the internet that's your problem. the rest of the sane, functioning members of society and the world are doing just fine differentiating between feminists and a made up story on reddit 2. this moronic obsession with the "fem" in "feminism" is so fucking stupid holy christ. its called feminism because it was (and still is for the most part) a movement in search of equal rights for women. that's not exclusionary and it doesnt mean MORE rights for women than for men, but given that the movement is for advancing the people who are being discriminated against, ie females, throwing "fem" in front seems pretty reasonable
If you want to make a difference, join a women's rights movement in a place like the middle east where they fight for simple human rights. If you like arguing about trivial shit, be a feminist.
Why are you posting on Facepunch when there are starving children in Africa who could be using the electricity you're consuming right now to power an irrigation system and grow enough food for the rest of their lives? Are you Hitler? Or do you only like hugely exaggerated arguments when they're in your own favour?
man, there was an all-out box-war in the first half of this thread. TJ's getting crazier and crazier with each video, it seems. people who claim themselves "feminists" who act like complete shitheads about everything make me angry. in the same way, actually sexist males who treat women like shit and try to suppress female reproductive rights also make me rather angry. but the crazy screaming idiots shouldn't represent the feminist movement. there are rather prominent feminists who don't make ridiculous claims about what rape is/isn't, ones who don't play the victim card at one point and then go all-out malicious in the next. this is obvious to most people. the problem is that the delusional dickheads are the ones that get all the attention. once again, i'm sure this is obvious to most people. when reaching into the broader issues of inequality between men and women, i don't think that it really matters who has 'more issues' (because anyone with an awareness of global policy would realize that women have it worse off in a variety of ways), there are issues, and they need to be resolved. a woman who is raped by a man should not be ignored because 'she asked for it' or some retarded shit. a man who is raped by a woman should not be ignored because 'durr how do u rape a guy w/pussy??'.
Wowee another awful video made by the Amazing Atheist for the reddit MRA hordes to jerk off over.
Also is he justifying paying women less than men? ....????
Did you even pay attention to what he said? He gave tangible points as to why women might be paid less than men. He didn't say it was okay to pay women less just because they're women. Also all the comments in this thread are garbage. Hardly any of you are even talking about this video. I mean for fucks sake, half of you are making blanket statements like "I hate the amazing atheist he is an idiot", the other half are bringing in stupid shit like the bananagate thing. We fucking get it, he has a fetish. Stop using Ad Hominem expecting to be taken seriously. What pisses me off about this thread is that he actually brings up valid points in this video and instead of discussing those points you idiots revert to your usual shit spewing.
Wowee another awful video made by the Amazing Atheist for the reddit MRA hordes to jerk off over.
Exactly the type of shit I'm talking about. Way to contribute to the thread. [editline]25th May 2013[/editline]
anything about TAA that doesn't involve him being taken to his nearest vet and put to sleep is a terrible thing indeed
Is it possible for facepunch to watch a TAA video and actually discuss things in the video?
why don't you contribute to the thread then and tell us what the good points were
The entire video was him refuting 33 points. Are you seriously trying to say that you don't agree with him on any of those? Why don't you start listing the ones that you disagree with. For example I highly agree with him on #30. Why do you disagree with him on it?
Got halfway through so far, he's got some good points most of the time even if he is a major douchebag.
I've always found that swearing in an argument undermines yourself. It makes you seem like you're not capable of providing a level-headed debate and have to resort to swearing to make your point. It's why I can't stand The Amazing Atheist or Penn & Teller.
I've never heard of Teller swearing?
I've never heard of Teller swearing?
He's talking about the show, not the people.
Did you even pay attention to what he said? He gave tangible points as to why women might be paid less than men. He didn't say it was okay to pay women less just because they're women.
I feel like most of the points he didn't even have a solid reason for refuting, he just did because, and when he did that it was ignoring half the statement like the global issue one, he was like "we can't change that unless we evolve as a society" you mean like change societal perceptions of things and the overall morality of the public? gee sounds like something feminism's trying to do huh or even better it was something along the lines of "stop objectifying women by overly sexualizing them in media" and he was like what's wrong with sexualizing women HMM? uh it just said why they think it's wrong maybe you should actually try refuting a point he just has weak arguments in general when it comes to this shit because he's dug himself into a hole
He didn't say "What's wrong with sexualizing women?" He said "What's wrong with sexualizing period" If women don't find scantily clothed men on magazines attractive, good for them. But apparently, men enjoy seeing scantily clothed women. I don't see what's wrong with that. Treating women like shit, rape, all of that is wrong. All of that should be fought in a society. But what's wrong with showing skin on a magazine cover? The feminist point is that oversexualization leads to men treating women like shit, TJ's point is that it's not the root cause. We should be fighting the root cause of the problem, in this case being the patriarchy. Growing up with this background implied idea that men are better/stronger than women. Feminists are up in arms about how dressing (for the sake of this argument) 'slutty' is something that every woman should have the right to do without being judged. So why are they judging when it's on a magazine then?
