Just to let you guys know that this will be available on steam. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/sounds-like-titanfall-2-will-come-to-steam/1100-6424358/
Have they actually said anything about 2's player count? I know a lot of people didn't like it, but I loved the smaller teams being supplemented with AI. It made the battles feel huge without making it a big disorganized clusterfuck. I'd be down to see a big-team gamemode like Halo had or something, but in general I hope they keep it smaller.
Haven't said a thing about player count, but I imagine it'd remain the same with the AI supplementing. However, I don't think it'd be far-fetched to imagine that we'll get gamemodes with more players in them.
Oh yeah and downloading uncompressed audio in all supported languages was a retarded idea. The game didn't need to be 50 gigs.
I'm very excited. I really liked Titanfall, so I'm definitely excited to see another one. I thought Titanfall's "plot" would've been much better if it was given the typical SP treatment. Regardless I'll be watching closely.
The only thing I can think of is maps, there were about 5 of them on launch?
There were 15 at launch :v:
Weird, I don't remember Titanfall 1 lacking content. The only thing I can think of is maps, there were about 5 of them on launch? Got better with DLC, which is now all free. That's about it. The amount of weapons, mechs, cards and general toys was satisfactory IMO. There were no redundancies and everything made for a great functioning ruleset. I thought only the price was a bit high, but I definitely wouldn't add any ballast to make up for it.
There were 15 maps at launch. More than most other FPS' can claim these days.
There were 15 at launch :v:
15 maps or 15 variations of the same 5 locations? 15 doesn't quite match what I remember. [editline]11th April 2016[/editline] At any rate, cool. What was the issue, then?
15 maps or 15 variations of the same 5 locations? 15 doesn't quite match what I remember.
All unique. http://www.ign.com/wikis/titanfall/Maps
At any rate, cool. What was the issue, then?
Honestly I just wanted more variety in the weapons. I get that the ones they had were all fairly distinct, but I like finding a gun that very specifically fits my niche. Like, one instance is how there's only one type of shotgun, so if you want to use a shotgun you're stuck with the semi-automatic magazine variety. You could easily round out that selection with a double barrel, or a shell-loading pump-action. It'd still be a shotgun, but you'd have more choice. Also the amount of mods, attachments, and perks wasn't that great. More forms of cosmetic customization wouldn't have hurt either. That said I loved it when they added different Titan OS voices That was a great idea.
I hope one of the melee weapons is another bigger pair of robot fists that goes over the normal fists
I played Titanfall 1 yesterday and it still seemed to have life in the ol' gal. Looking forward to this.
I'm hoping they harken back a little to old mech simulators and add vehicular dismemberment, the way you could blow off various parts like weapons and "limbs".
There will be, which is exactly what I didn't want 2 to do. Hopefully it'll be good though.
What why did you not want it to have a singleplayer?
Part of me would love that, but another part of me thinks that there'll be some players who would claim it ruins the power fantasy of being a badass death robot.
Just to let you guys know that this will be available on steam. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/sounds-like-titanfall-2-will-come-to-steam/1100-6424358/
I mean, this is good, because I have 99% of my games on Steam and would like to keep my collection together. But I'm also all for having Origin have an edge over Steam instead of just better consumer support/policies. [editline]11th April 2016[/editline]
What why did you not want it to have a singleplayer?
I think they meant "It will be lacking, which is why I wish they wouldn't bother." [editline]11th April 2016[/editline]
If there's swords there better be fucking drills and pile bunkers
If there's no drill weapon in this game, I'm going to be so fucking mad.
I'm hoping for single-player campaign that is a mix of Prince Of Persia and Half-Life 2.
I'm hoping for single-player campaign that is a mix of Prince Of Persia and Half-Life 2.
We will most likely get a Battlefield.
What why did you not want it to have a singleplayer?
I'd personally prefer they dump all of their resources into refining the multiplayer as opposed to tacking on a campaign that probably no one will care about. I mean we saw the "story" the gave us with the first game, does anyone really want that expanded upon in a 7 hour campaign?
I'm hoping for single-player campaign that is a mix of Prince Of Persia and Half-Life 2.
I have zero idea what you mean by this. A first person shooter mixed with a third-person action adventure?
Not gonna lie, with the setting in the woods and the hard thumping, I was expecting dinosaurs or at the very least, robot dinosaurs.
We don't need another Orion game.
I'd personally prefer they dump all of their resources into refining the multiplayer as opposed to tacking on a campaign that probably no one will care about. I mean we saw the "story" the gave us with the first game, does anyone really want that expanded upon in a 7 hour campaign?
Yes, because I'm not throwing down another $60 for a half-assed multiplayer shooter. Not saying Titanfall was half-assed - it was the least (or most?) assed out of all the big guys - but it still wasn't $60 worth. It'd take a hell of a lot to get me that far, and I doubt a beefed up multiplayer alone will do it.
We will most likely get a Battlefield.
I'd be fine with that because we'd be getting cheesy popcorn moments with giant robots
Yes, because I'm not throwing down another $60 for a half-assed multiplayer shooter. Not saying Titanfall was half-assed - it was the least (or most?) assed out of all the big guys - but it still wasn't $60 worth.
And does (what will likely be) a half-assed campaign really make it a better value proposition? Wouldn't it be better if they focused their resources to make the multiplayer full-assed? I mean sure, Titanfall 1 could have used more ass, but the basis for a great ass was there. I'd rather they just focus on what they had as opposed to try and split their focus like this. I'm probably in the minorty in this case, but I don't see multiplayer-only as an inherently bad thing, and I think it could justify the $60 pricetag if there's enough content available. Admittedly, 1 was a bit short on content for most people for being multiplayer only, but that doesn't mean 2 couldn't have been. That doesn't mean it NEEDED a campaign. I'd vastly prefer it to not have one, over getting a big chunk of the game that I probably won't give a shit about a week after, if that. If this comes out and ends up having a campaign like the original Halo games that I'll want to replay again and again, I'll eat my words and consider it an ACTUAL addition to the game's value... But I sincerely doubt it will. The idea that you need a campaign, whether it ends up being worth a damn or not, to have a $60 pricetag seems arbitrary.
I have zero idea what you mean by this. A first person shooter mixed with a third-person action adventure?
Maybe a first person action/adventure is what I mean. Remember in Half-Life 2 where you have to drive a car all the way from point A to Point B, but sometimes you have to go on foot in order to shut down the force-field? Now, replace that car with your titan and you also get the ability to wall-run and double-jump. And maybe add some puzzles to it.
:hypeisreal: All aboard Can't wait!

Wolfenstein: The New Order (and to an extent The Old Blood) had touches of that with the giant robot sequences, and I remember enjoying the road trips in HL2 and Episode Two, but what you describe would probably be pretty fucking stellar if done right.
I wonder which engine they chose...
;50112673']I wonder which engine they chose...
Frostbite if I had to guess. Whatever it is, I hope it's better than the modified Source engine they used last time.
The reason I like single player is because it means I'll be able to play the game in some form in the future. Titanfall 1 will be a 50gb paperweight pretty soon.
The idea that you need a campaign, whether it ends up being worth a damn or not, to have a $60 pricetag seems arbitrary.
I agree, but not having the content to support that $60 price tag in addition to not having any singleplayer component is more fucked in my opinion. I'm perfectly fine with paying $60 if they provide enough meat to back it up, campaign or not, but as someone who is genuinely interested what the world of Titanfall could offer, a campaign would go a long way to appease me.
I thought we've learned by now that in terms of AAA games Cutting the Campaign never leads to better multiplayer.
