That was great, I wonder if there are still builds floating around their office of Doom 4, or if there's more footage of it.
Is that cardboard cutout of Archvile at the end already known about?
Weren't there only like 2 or 3 direct remixes in the entire soundtrack?
The rest is original or just takes subtle cues from the other games.
That was a really good video, that segment from QuakeCon 2014 was great. If Danny can keep this kind of quality up for all his documentaries then this is going to end being a great channel. It's refreshing to have videos which are about the actual subject matter, with only a little of the 'personality' at the start and end of each video.

I saw "quak 3" using English CC in the video.
Goddamn, all that Id swag in the display cases, I want it ALL.
Very well put together video. Looking forward to tomorrow's entry.
I was hoping they would show the Quakeworld footage, but in tht end it's just E3 footage?

That was quake world footage, just not all of it.
You can tell it is old, the lighting doesn't match
I was hoping they would show the Quakeworld footage, but in tht end it's just E3 footage?
It is the Quakeworld footage - that Cyberdemon scene wasn't in the E3 demo.
Supposedly Noclip have the complete demo footage, I think they're trying to see if it's possible to release it? I suspect it's mostly a less-polished version of the E3 demo with that weird early guitar-less version of At Doom's Gate.

The DOOM guy throwing that screen away in the first 5 minutes really is one of the greatest things of the game. Such a simple and effective way of conveying your message. It's one of the few things that turned me onto the game when I saw the first 30 minutes gameplay.
the soundtrack is all djent i love it.
Hugo Martin's such a great dude.
Hugo Martin is seriously my favorite person. Absolutely no punches pulled. In the first video when every other person was trying to dance around doom 4, he just said "yeah it wasn't doom and that sucked." And in the second video, he's just all about player feel. love it.
Also i love how Hugo just curses his way around while Marty still sticks with saying "flipping" and how he has a short pause thinking of what other word to say instead of a curse word.
I mean its Doom for fucks sake :v: Demons getting brutally ripped to shreds
the soundtrack is all djent i love it.
Doom requires sick riffs, not sick beats.

Honestly the style of the classic Doom music wouldn't fit in Doom 2016's campaign. The djent and industrial sound were clearly to fuel the intensity and pacing of combat.
Absolutely loving these, I'm really looking forward to seeing how Mick put the soundtrack together. His inspirations and the kinds of processes that went into it's production. Wolfenstein & DOOM's soundtracks are easily my favorites in years.
Here's the last part, looking at level design, combat flow and the chillingly realistic possibility of a Doom 4 without any guitar:

I believe extended versions of each interview will be publicly released in a week or two.
I love how intricate Mick Gordon is with his tracks. And it shows.

I actually really like that version. It definitely feels different though.

I need more Hugo Martin in my life. Guy became my new favorite person at ID in a matter of two interviews he gives. The way he talks about his stuff just make him seem like a cool dude. And I agree with all the stuff he says about the self references and writing in DOOM.
This game has one of the best soundtracks ever. Mick Gordon is a fucking genius.
this man is correct, go check his channel.

Great documentary, doesn't seem to be pulling a lot of punches.
First extended interview is public. Have an hour of Hugo.

Having this on my second monitor while programming my game on the other is great motivation :v:
