Yeah well I can do that too

Wow man its like that thing that testosterone causes. You'd know if you had some.
I have a pet one in a tank, it's a native Australian species though. Its the only insect that makes me feel uneasy. I fear this one day, I do not want to get bitten by this little guy.
If centipedes make you feel uneasy and even fearful, why have one as a pet?

To get over the fear. Also it's cute, I feed it slaters.

But...the fear is valid?
Like I don't feel the need to overcome a fear of sharks because that fear is a perfectly valid one.

But it's really not, unless you're some sort of deep sea diver lol

I'd actually understand those as pets, I used to raise them in biology class, they're harmless and cute in my book.

A woodlouse.
And why is it bad to over come a fear, that really isn't all that valid. I don't want the feeling of dread when I'm doing my job (I'm a handy man and do lots of garden maintenance) and see one of these tiny things. Watching my one that is about 11cm long crawl around it's tank no longer gives me goosebumps or that cold dread feeling. so it must be working.

It's just inherently the idea that if you're bothered by or afraid of something, you stay away from it, that's all. Good on you for getting over it, especially in pursuit of your job. I'm still trying to get over heights myself :v:

Heights used to get me too, till I did some contract work on scaffolding. Rather than tell the boss I was afraid of heights I just went up and did the work, after some time I was fine.

Yeah occasionally I have to get up on tall ladders or trucks for my job and I can quell the fear but I'd still rather avoid it if I can lol
