I feel like Kanye's freak outs are part of the entertainment though. Any one who's ever been to a kanye show, knows he goes on atleast a 30 minute rant at every single show. Thats just what makes him Kanye, hahah.
When an artist releases an album named "Yeezus"(In case you don't know, that's mixing his nickname "Yeezy" with Jesus) with a deliberate lack of promotion and it still sells over 300,000 in the first week and ends up reaching platinum, when despite it's aggressive sound, it still was one of the most anticipated albums of 2013 and ends up getting him nominated to two categories for the Grammies, let's not forget piracy by the way, I think that says something for itself. Big Sean is who he is now because Kanye West influenced him, same with a lot of other musicians out there. His relevance to hip-hop or even music as a whole given his HUGE variety of songs from the sweetest melody to the hardest beat is enormous. This shit he does all the way outside music isn't even comparable to what his music does, it's a whole new world. He maybe be an awkward shit when he tries to talk to people but when he makes music, he's not as bad as people think he is. [editline]16th November 2014[/editline] You can't deny he is influential after years at the top just because he said some dumbshit on a radio show
He has large influence in the hip hop community. Not so much elsewhere. A titan in his genre does not mean he's changing the world. I could write paragraphs about how Pantera were directly influential to metal in its entirety as it stands today but I'm not gonna act like they did anything more than that. People get sucked into this narrative every single time. It's all about Kayne's ego and that's all it will ever be. His contributions to society if there are any, will not be remembered. People are just going to remember the guy with all the money that thought he did something more than make popular music and rant every now and then.

Yes, he's been an influence outside the hip-hop scene. Plus does it really matter that he's not changing the world, wth, how many artists have even done that? Isn't changing a few thousands or even hundreds lives for the better good enough for a musician, he's not a president of a country or a politician trying to revolutionize the world. And you clearly don't know him if you think people will just remember him as a rich dude who made good music, neither do you know what people say about him. People don't remember Tupac or Biggie for being black dudes that became rich and famous in the US, now do they? People don't remember Jay-Z for being a wealthy investor and entrepreneur or Beyonce's husband, stop saying silly things.

That's why he wants to make a clothing line at "Ralph" level.
I've found his fashion hit and miss but he knows street fashion tighter than anyone I've seen. This would most certainly elevate him to new horizons which would justify some extended praise, but again he isn't Jesus and he needs to stop saying all this dumb shit. If he believes in following ideas that revolve around things other than music then he needs to act on them instead of being all talk no action.

This doesn't influence people, his music does.
Only the first big name to do it on such a scale.
Which is great for him??
Tupac and Biggie were big in the rap world and they acted that way. They did not act as if they were more than that, same for Jay-Z
Learn more then if you think this. It's a rapper's nature to boast. Don't forgot Tupac is widely known as the best ever despite his "thug life" attitude

He can't even look this Sway dude in the eyes when he talks to him and refuses to even ponder Sway's argument like regular human being would because he clearly views him as an inferior. Kanye is a sick man and he needs professional treatment if he isn't already receiving it.
lmao did kanye personally offend you or something
You never knew ShakeHead was Sway? Damn, get your facts!
kanye says some pretty ott hyperbolic over dramatic shit but the people who can't read between the lines are dumb as shit tbh so many people like "yo he jumps from slavery to the french revolution! what a dumb idiot what's he on about! he's not a slave ffs what a dumb guy he was born in america we're all free" n stuff like that. all he's saying is that we're held down by our love of brands and things and objects as status symbols to make us happy. obviously this effects people in varying degrees but it's pretty universal. and the french revolution shit is just referencing being at a crossroads and certain groups having the power to sway ideals from one side to the other and for people to follow those ideals. it's not complex or even especially clever so it's amazing how many people respond so negatively to it. do people just not like the way he says things? that's a pretty shitty way to refute the ability of massive groups of people to voice their opinions and it's the reason a political elite is able to control language and presentation and then there's people who have no idea who he is or what his music is who think he's a corporate 'mainstream' act or something.. even though he's independent... and the music he makes creates the mainstream for the years to come, at least in certain genres and then you've got the people who say he's a hypocrite like why is he telling us we're all slaves when he's there in his labelled clothes driving his lamboughini?? why is he saying we're slaves to clothes and then trying to create his own high-fashion brand??? well, for one he talks about being a hypocrite a lot in his lyrics. that's a pretty major theme throughout all his music. and secondly, all the stuff that he tries to strike out and do on his own is so that he can prove an independent artist can do anything and create anything and sell it on the market and beat the old money big businesses - he's done it in music and now he wants to try it in clothes. again, not limiting yourself and not letting labels define you is a big part of his music. "oh you're only a rapper so you can't make clothes" or whatever can be applied to a lot of things and it's something a lot of people suffer from and why is he so cocky why does he think he's the greatest thing in the world? well, in short he knows he's not the greatest thing in the world - he knows there's stuff he sucks at, stuff he's failed at, people he's failed, it's all in his lyrics - but everything he's not made him everything he is, and that's why he thinks he's a god. whether he truly believes he's a god or not is up to you but it's a pretty powerful statement anyway. again, look past the hyperbole and all he's saying is "i love myself". it's something he's talked about a lot and that's how society feeds off people will low self-esteem - love yourself and spend less time worrying about other people and you'll be a happier person who gets more shit done i guess what i'm trying to say is if you look past him "spazzing out" and look past his weird metaphors, he's saying some really basic but powerful stuff i think anyone who's ever been jaded or depressed or beaten can agree with and feel some inspiration from it's a classic case of someone not presenting themselves in the way some people want them to, so those people decide everything that comes out of that person's mouth is retarded before they've even considered it
I respect him as an artist. Hate him as a person. Like, I don't think I could sit in the same room as him for very long without wanting to leave. It's like you said, he doesn't present himself in a way that people like. He isn't humble, he isn't nice. And what makes it worse is that he can actually back up his ego with his talent. Makes me so frustrated. He makes some damn good hip-hop though.
Lmao fuck outta here Kanye and Sway are friends. Kanye is mad which is why he was acting like that during the interview. He was frustrated just like he was in the Charlemagne interview. The only difference between the two interviews is that Kanye didn't blow up on Charlemagne because Kanye was ignoring him because Char's a bit of a prick. Kanye blows up at Sway because just like with Ye and Jimmy Kimmel they're friends. Plus in all honesty both Char and Sway kept asking Kanye the same question "Why don't you do it yourself" when Kanye already said he tried and lost 3 mil doing it. The last time Sway said it sounded like Sway was trying to advise him, but you can't advise someone when you don't know where they're coming from. Kanye was right when he started frantically screaming "You aint got the answers Sway" Sway dropping a couple hundred and etc isn't the same as Ye trying to make Ralph Lauren business and failing. Sway's advice is near useless to Ye in that context
If I get you right, he was letting his anger out with sway cause they're friends and it's ok to argue and show strong feelings with friends like that. Ok, but he's still acting like a kid who cant stand not being the man in the spotlight.
I dunno, I really wanna like him and get what he's trying to say. but it's really hard for me to listen to people if they get angry of belligerent, while what was coming out of his mouth was actually interesting, the wording and how he presented himself made him seem really really defensive. It was a little pathetic even That's just not the way to be
"Ain't no Hold Up"

I've just been around so many people who act similar to him I don't think I could do it again for longer than a second
