I'm hoping the minimum requirements aren't going to be too high :v:
Am I the only one that gets seriously annoyed when commentators on gameplay start talking about everything but the gameplay like in this video? I watch it because I want to see the gameplay not to listen to two guys jabbering on about everything but the gameplay.
I generally enjoy what we're calling "Batman" esque combat. For most games that use it(Looking at your Shadows of Mordor) it works well and it does it's job just fine. I don't know what to really expect from a beat em up game anymore, as no one really makes 3D beat em ups that are worth a damn outside of this style to my knowledge. The batman system of combat is pretty basic though, it's attack, and counter, mix in some goodies for effect, but basically just time your counters correctly and you'll survive. They up the challenge of this quite a bit by mixing in enemy types. In that video there, the guy shows the most basic enemy types failing to attack him because he just mashed counter, but it also didn't show any enemies with knives, batons, shields, guns, armor, and it would just not really work to win that fight as you'd be staying there for a while as enemies can take a good deal of hits when they're spaced out. To me, the Batman combat system is engaging because it asks you to excel at it and makes doing so a good experience by giving a good deal of variety in it's goodie bag. A lot of the games that copy this, are hamstringed by failing to give those same level of goodies, so they don't do it as well. But the system itself is a pretty solid one. I would like people to innovate upon it a bit more than we are now, but honestly, does anyone really have any good ideas for a combat system for a brawler beat em up that can work on a controller? For Honor is looking good in that category but not many people really have many thoughts on that concept really. I wonder how hard it is to actually figure something out that is engaging, has a decent skill floor and skill ceiling and relies on the player pushing themselves.
its FINE but how many games are going to use it before we stop because it's been done to death
I don't get why everyone's so strung up on the batman combat when the vehicular combat is said to be the majority of the gameplay. I've read it's around 60/40 between vehicle/on foot gameplay.
Well this is developed by the same team that makes the Just Cause games, so yeah I can see why it would have some similarities.
That's exactly what I was saying. When they first revealed they were working on it I think it was just a teaser image and Max looked very similar to Rico and it even seemed like he might have a grapple like Rico's as well.
it's not the same team, it's a side team at the same company. one team cannot work on two games at once [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] the team that worked on just cause is making just cause 3 (go figure)
