Everyone itt is still ignoring the point of what Kurt said in the video tho. He's saying don't blame fiction for reality.
yeah, i think so. but it's so ingrained in americans to think that it's totally cool and normal. it's pretty bizarre to, like, most of the rest of the world. you don't need them. they're designed to kill. i am morally opposed to them.
I'm still really not seeing a problem here. Cultures are different. You may be morally against them, and plenty of other people may be as well. But plenty of others are for guns and don't find it bizarre, not just Americans either.
Just because you're against them doesn't mean you have the right to say owning guns is bizarre and we shouldn't have them. You're infringing on other peoples' hobbies and lifestyles.
When you buy a gun and fill out the background check, they call the NICS for them to run a check on you, plus the serial number on your weapon is federally registered.
[editline]13th December 2015[/editline]
Why does it irk you? Most people don't buy guns because they believe the government is about to initiate martial law....lmao.
it gets me thinking? ive been around guns my entire life but it doesn't strike you as weird sometimes, when people's #1 reason for owning it is something along the lines of "recreation?" k bruh
i am not for outright banning guns, just being realistic and open minded about it. you shouldn't viciously defend gun rights simply because you use it for fun
Everyone's still ignoring the point of what Kurt said in the video tho. He's saying don't blame fiction for reality.
i think that's a given and i definitely agree with that. but it wasn't his only point in the video
yeah, i think so. but it's so ingrained in americans to think that it's totally cool and normal. it's pretty bizarre to, like, most of the rest of the world. you don't need them. they're designed to kill. i am morally opposed to them.
I'm sorry but, according to this logic, I shouldn't be allowed to own a sword either? Or a bow and arrow? These are weapons designed to kill as well...
That logic just doesn't work, man. I'm sorry.
Not everywhere in the country. This only happens where the state requires it, as unfortunately gun control is still up to state law. Hence why California is considered the "gun hating" state or whatever.
You are federally required to get the NICS background check. Federal. Requirement. As in, every state.
As well, I heard my state Governor (or one of our senators, its a bit of a blur) state they want to make sure you can't just buy a gun online and have it shipped to your home. Of course, if that individual knew what they were talking about, they'd already know you are federally required to have any gun you purchase online be shipped first to your Federal Firearms License Holding shop of your choice, and then that shop will run the NICS background check and you must go pick it up from that shop.

cultures are different. but it's pretty clear, that your culture isn't working out for you, as the death toll keeps piling up higher and higher. the easier guns are to get, the bigger the death toll will climb.

most people own guns for both recreation and for self defense, but the majority only use them for recreation. i don't really see that as weird, not much different than bowshooting
it gets me thinking? ive been around guns my entire life but it doesn't strike you as weird sometimes, when people's #1 reason for owning it is something along the lines of "recreation?" k bruh
Why should it? We're allowed to own and buy them. Does it matter why people buy them? As long as they're law abiding civilians and aren't planning to kill people with them?

Sorry we aren't hivemind creatures and have the exact same though process when it comes to thinking about whether its weird to own guns for target shooting.
You are federally required to get the NICS background check. Federal. Requirement. As in, every state.
Except it is not required in every state, more in particular the part about serial numbers being recorded.
If serial numbers were federally recorded my girlfriend's rifle would be safe in our home instead of on the street somewhere.

Uh, yeah. why the fuck do you want a sword?
archery is less of a problem obviously as it's pretty hard to go on a mass shooting with a bow and arrow. you won't do a 100th of the damage you would if you had a gun.

the death toll is going down, though. gun deaths are on a decline and have been for like 20 years now

Uh, do you have sources for any of that? Why should people take what you're saying as fact without sources? Because if you google and sort of statistics from the FBI you would know the death toll is actually lowering since the 1990's and mass shootings are something blown up by the media

Swords are antique possessions, especially older sabres and the like. They are prized collector's items. But nah it's a weapon designed for death, clearly having it in a locked glass case as an heirloom or a prized possession is just way outta line and super dangerous, right?
it's not weird to own a gun for recreation. it's not at all. but there is more purpose to it than just "fun." it shouldn't be treated like a toy.

it's weird when people adamantly defend it like this yet think of firearms like they're airsoft guns. thanks for proving my point

Of course he doesn't, that was a shitpost and he knows it. I'm all ears if he wants to give hard evidence back to us that have given him sources on statements we've made against his, but all he's given us so far is a fake meme picture.

Why do you care about what people "want." As long as the dude isn't running around cutting people up with a sword I couldn't care less what stuff he collects.

that's the point. nobody is going around cutting people up, until they do.

I'm just not the kind of person to throw myself into a glass case holding a sword and getting killed, I guess? When I see a sword on display I'm fairly certain it's not going to jump out of the case and kill me.
you could have fooled me. how accurate is this?
pew research is very reputable and so are the official FBI crime stats.
you could have fooled me. how accurate is this?
Even if it is accurate that's the murder rate, not mass shooting rate. Massing shootings have become more common.
You could just start making bombs instead.
yeah you could. and people who are super determined to do damage will
but a lot of shootings happen on impulse. the easier it to to do immediately, the more it will occur. when people have time to cool down because they can't get their hands on a gun right away, it will happen less.
that's the point. nobody is going around cutting people up, until they do.
Well you can't ban things based on what somebody """might""" do. That's just appealing to emotion
