I was watching my friend play this yesterday and he had pretty crappy gear overall, but he was just absolutely shitting on people. He had some really good movement and always managed to get good pot-shots and he was being a headshot machine. 4v1'd at one point and all of them had the DZ liberator which was the best gun ( I think) in open beta
I still don't understand how this game works but I'm intrigued.

Think Destiny but cover based and third person.
Why can players (and also NPC's in this game) soak up so much bullets without dying, while the other three didn't?
And if not LA, it sure looks like an apocalyptic city roughly the likes of L.A.
That looks nothing like L.A. lmao
All you had to do was google 'The Division'
This looks like it's pretty much Day Z

you obviously have never seen what LA looks like in comparison to midtown manhattan
also what are you even saying
Think Destiny but cover based and third person.
It's a little unfair to describe it just like that I think; it's considerably different
(I know you know below I'm just stating it for anyone else who's confused on the division)
So it's a TPS RPG with cover mechanics, a complete difference in that cosmetic items do not affect your stats in anyway other than appearance (unlike destiny which forces you to change gear based on what it does, also changing appearance)
a complete set of gear items like, legs, hands, chests, etc but those DO affect your stats and not your appearance
plus passive perks, and 3 trees of skills that can be mix and matched with no limitation of the three. With a maximum of 2 active skills like the turret or stickybomb and a special skill with a longer cooldown. (so you can be a healer and offensive class, all offensive, all defensive)
It doesn't have any set way to PvP other players other than the dark zone where you can find a mix of PvE and PvP with no rules on how to play + super loot to find.
guns can be modified extensively, and guns can have special modifiers on them that changes the way they can be utilized.
And the biggest change from destiny is that it's a big seamless open world with mixed PvE/PvP elements. They made it much easier than destiny to actually meet and get to know random people you meet in the world too.

Dude, I'm from Poland and even I know for sure that L.A. looks nothing like Manhattan.
And that if it ever snows there the locals would claim its the end of the world as we know it.

It doesn't snow in LA. It's New York City.
That was absolutely ridiculous, whoa yeah "The Division" so cool rolling in an apocalyptic L.A. with the tacticool rifles and shit, this would surely get all the survivalist-operator kids excited!
destiny has long loading screens while the division has almost none once you enter the game
I still don't understand how this game works but I'm intrigued.
think destiny but third person and fixed alot of problems destiny had when it came out.
and about sponge enemies, Only Yellow Units and players can really be spongy. everyone else goes down in a few shots. Yellow Units are usually boss units anyway.
Yeah they were talking between each other, saying to intimidate him, and so on.
The beta was ending soon, so there's nothing to lose to them
This looks like it's pretty much Day Z
i dont think I've ever seen someone survive more than 3 shots in day z

nice to hear this video game does not appeal to you in a way that seems like you're personally offended at its existence
you guys realize that your punished for attacking people in the dark zone unprovoked right? if these kids have way worse gear than him they could have just not attacked him.
you guys realize that your punished for attacking people in the dark zone unprovoked right? if these kids have way worse gear than him they could have just not attacked him.
And then he'd probably attack them and get their dz credits anyways since he can just stomp them. It's a lose/lose situation.

yeah and then he gets the rogue penalty of killing 3 people which means he's marked on a huge radius on the map. in my experience, this means about 10 people are gonna be on his ass within 30 seconds and he's gonna lose even more dz credits because he's rogue.
You can pull off some crazy shit if you divide and conquer, in my experience.

I hope you were assuming that there was a literal nuclear winter because there's no way in hell it would actually snow in LA. There was a year with hail once, but otherwise SoCal is either warm or hot as balls all year round.
It's Mid-town manhatten, and accurate enough that you can open google maps and navigate the game. How can it be confused with LA. Manhatten is literally a gridded concrete jungle while LA is just another large city
I hope you all realise how inane it is to grill a guy out because he said it's in LA instead of NYC. It doesn't change the meaning of his post at all.
Not sure what that meaning was in the first place, but this one mistake didn't need to make up half the replies in the thread.
there's always that one kid who goes "i told them not to but they did"

True, very true.. Allow me to go to the shame corner right now.
Seriously though, forget about the LA or NY, is the gunplay even that good? Is the game even fun?
Cuz' from what I've seen (actually seen, and with interest) it seems pretty shit tbh. Like, a Lvl2 operator bro magically dealing less damage with each hit than a Lvl10 operator bro, when they're both firing conventional firearms. Lol?

It's not a plain shooter, it's a shooter RPG. Something mentioned several times in this thread.

Also yes, thanks for pointing that out. China, Japan, what's the fucking difference? There may be a difference, but it wasn't really the point.. So yes.
As for what was my meaning in the first place? To express distrust and suspicions, also being ignorant apparently, and "subtle" bashing & shitting on The Div.. for which I am very sorry, but I'm not fully convinced on the game.
Something's not right about it (probably personal preference) like the damage numbers alá Dead Island/Borderlands, or maybe it's the bullet-sponginess, or perhaps it's the pretentious and fake apocalyptic special ops-survivor theme that gives me vomiting reflexes.
Lmao those "pretentious spec ops survivors" are actually government sleeper agents from a pre-disaster defense agency sent in to bring back government control, with a license to kill.
And if you told japanese and chinese natives that they're all the same you might be in for some trouble.
Right of course, government sleeper agents from a pre-disaster defense agency. Now my socks are truly spinning in my feet.
But please, don't focus on the Japan and China now.
