It's powerful enough to rip holes through concrete walls.

:downs:
You probably can't even make a visible mark on a concrete wall with only 1W of laser power.
Lightsaber
Would the individual parts get past Australian customs?
Australia
"In Victoria, New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory, a laser pointer with an accessible emission limit greater than 1 mW is classified as a prohibited weapon and any sale of such items must be recorded. In Western Australia, regulatory changes have classified laser pointers as controlled weapons and demonstration of a lawful reason for possession is required. Also The State Government has banned as of 2000 the manufacture, sale and possession of laser pointers higher than class 2. In New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, the product safety standard for laser pointers prescribes that they must be a Class 1 or a Class 2 laser product."

You might get the parts in, but having it around over Class 2 will get you in trouble
I bought a 5mw green laser pointer from Amazon.
What happens when you point it at a mirror?
Wow, where did you get those?
The one was from YPG (around $300k) and the other from Coherent (around $500k). Both are used in my lab.
he probably works somewhere that deals exclusively with industrial cutting or something
I'm working in a lab with cold atoms. Those two lasers are used for an optical dipole trap and for pumping other lasers like a Titanium-Sapphire or Dye-Laser.
I know some people have succeeded in over-volting laser diodes in the past to get more power out of them, and water-cooling them on top of that. Wonder if that'd work with one of these...
Voltage does not change the output power. It's the current you have to modify.

It gets reflected OFC.
I have a 50mw green laser for fun, I plan on building one of these for serious stuff.
In Massachusetts the state law for laser pointers is that it needs to be <1mw.
So by building this, I can go FUCK YOUR LAW ONE THOUSAND TIMES, GOOD SIR.
light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation
optical pump
This one's easier.

The diode will burn out faster in this one...
The diode will burn out faster in this one...
Yes it will.
Yes it will.
But the good thing is it can be easily replaced.
Getting this
http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs-solarforce-l2p-kit-18650-host-massive-heatsink-53746.html
Kit without the 50$ diode or battery/charger is ~$190 from the same guy mentioned in the video.
they dissected the 1W 445 Wicked laser, it's a piece of crap
But the good thing is it can be easily replaced.
Because replacing the laser diode is so cheap, right?
I would rather be shot in the leg with a small bullet than this blind me.
I purchased a Spyder 3 Arctic, and after 2 months of waiting, I even got the wrong model. (G1 instead of the G2).
It does NOT have a beam like this.
Wicked should never have rushed this product. They could've waited and then announced it when it was a finished top-notch product.
Wicked Lasers used to be a seal of quality.
I wonder how efficent would these things would be if they'd be used in a war.

They do, firearms with ANPEQ. Distract the enemy with the laser and/or blind them.
