He mentions the GOG version, but GOG doesn't have F.3.A.R., but the GOG version does come with the expansions.
I got 2 and 3 on a steam sale. To be honest 2 was actually kinda fun until you leave the Hospital and end up on the streets but I swear to god ill never forgive it for not letting me shoot that bitch Genevieve Aristide in the face. Fuck that game for that reason alone. Also the story kept getting really weird and made no sense and ended with you getting raped by a ghost. That was a weird game. 3 seemed fun till it just sorta turned into horseshit 5 minutes in. I mean gameplay wise it seemed fine It i just remember there being loads of obnoxious crap always showing up on the screen whenever you got a kill, definitely turned me off playing it. [editline]22nd May 2017[/editline]
This game is a good game. [vid]https://u.nya.is/xdwqbu.webm[/vid]
Welp I was trying not to reinstall till i got my work done but that's not happening now.
Rockstar managed to do it with MP3 Can you also explain why
Pretty easily; they had the time and literally unlimited money.
The horror elements mostly sucked imo but the gunplay was just out of this world. Shame what happened to the franchise.
The #1 reason I stayed away from this game. I was worried the horror elements would take away from the combat like many horror games.
The #1 reason I stayed away from this game. I was worried the horror elements would take away from the combat like many horror games.
You can easily ignore the horror elements.
Idk I put a lot of time into MP3 and it was pretty good for the most part
it had some objectively trash design decisions that, were it not a rockstar game, everyone would've torn it apart for 1. weapons only unlockable by level 50+ that can 1shot you at full health while wearing a bombsuit with a hit anywhere to the body 2. a useless, grindy COD-style progression system for a 35gb singleplayer game with no replay value beyond arcade mode, ensuring that only the most die-hard and lifeless players would ever get beyond like, level ten 3. splitting the playerbase into soft lock and free aim modes (why even have soft lock as an option in max payne?) 4. splitting the playerbase further with map packs and dlc gamemodes that you can't play unless you have the DLC 5. DLC weapons that are better than the basic unlocks and give you a clear edge over people without the DLC 6. female playermodels with smaller hitboxes than the normal playermodels 7. like eighty fucking gamemodes, only two of which anybody ever played because why do you need a capture the flag mode in Max Payne? 8. enforced Social Club matchmaking and complete lockout on steam matchmaking for the steam version (yeah sure they had a retail version but why lock out steam friend invites? Far Cry 3 lets you invite people via steam and UPlay so there's no real excuse beyond they never considered it. which is dumb. make the most of what you have.) 9. locking cosmetics behind progression, some of which are locked higher than the fucking instakill sniper rifle (seriously, why should i grind to level 110 to have Max Payne's head in a Max Payne game?) 10. horrendous peer-to-peer netcode that ensures that if you play with anyone not from your country you're going to get killed via laggy melee 11. changing the bullets to fire at where you're looking, not where the gun barrel is. this is one of the worst flaws, because in the singleplayer the bullets come out of your barrel, but in MP they come out of your eyes, like TF2. most of these flaws were carried over into GTAO too, which is why GTAO PVP is a complete joke.
The #1 reason I stayed away from this game. I was worried the horror elements would take away from the combat like many horror games.
In my opinion the horror elements are more annoying than anything but the combat more than makes up for it, and there's more combat than horror.
I honestly liked the horror atmosphere in FEAR, there were some little things I couldn't help but appreciate. In one area you can listen to a phone message where the caller is trying to reach the recipient's cellphone but they say they aren't picking up, only for you later to reach an area where you can see a very large blood stain on the ceiling tiles and can hear a cellphone ringing.
really the general stuff toward the Pointman in FEAR is weak because you are a fucking John Woo character, but the shit involving other people (especially [sp]the fact that Jankowski's disappearance is NEVER EXPLAINED in ANY of the games[/sp])
Having just now finished F.E.A.R. for the third time I feel the game shines when it comes to low-key uneasiness when it blends seamlessly with the gameplay. The replica soldiers are the perfect enemy because they're smart but the fact that they're still clones (or brainwashed puppets) excuses the fact that they might lack some tactical flexibility. As soon as you encouter the human security guards it kind of shatters the illusion of the AI because they aren't as much fun to fight against and they don't freak out like you would expect normal human beings to do when their buddy gets liquefied. Even the replica soldiers in that respect are more human. They should have taken out the human guards entirely, they don't fit at all in the game. Also less visions and illusions and more actual Paxton Fettel legit stalking you and blocking your progress would have gone a long way to make him stand out. The fucker never really does anything the entire game. They should have made him more of an antagonist. Give him some character, make him taunt us, make us hate his guts! Something! He's supposed to be the one directing the Replica Soldiers but it never feels that way. I feel like we should have never seen Alma the entire game, just hearing the audio logs and shit about the whole situation would have made it work way better than in-your-face "2spooks4u" ghost Alma. Sidenote, I really like that the game has great ragdolls and full-on gibbing (and the gibbing is somewhat rare which gives it more of an impact when only a handful of times you'll see a guy miss a leg).
The only downside of FEAR1 is the fact that the cool guns like the autocannon and that railgun that turns people into skeletons are introduced pretty late in the story. And those [sp]fucking ghost enemies at the end.[/sp] The shotgun still remains the greatest game shotgun I have used though

[sp]He was being possessed by Alma afaik[/sp] The same thing happened to one of the guys in FEAR 2
It never needed to be though? [sp]He was being possessed by Alma afaik[/sp] The same thing happened to one of the guys in FEAR 2
i mean if you want to say that, then yeah, but hte devs really left it up in the air as a whole on purpose.
Even though most of the horror in this game to be honest is quite bland, the elevator shaft full of dead office workers in the corporate building levels still creeps me out after all these years.
