You can bitch and whine about how Adblock users are ruining the internet but there's still going to be more people that don't use it than do. YouTube isn't going to die any time soon.
YouTube doesn't have unsafe ads, audio ads, or pop ups.
I've gotten audio ads, the pop-up ads I'm referring to as the ones that pop into the videos themselves, and the audio ads- well, besides the video ads that come before many videos, I've experienced ads that give audio on the side. [editline]11th April 2013[/editline]
Ever heard of how much money all these "youtube stars" are making? Like RWJ? Or Pewdiepie? Youtube gets 50% of that cake. From every youtuber. And its FAR from going broke.
Yes. and the Youtubers whose content I enjoy, I donate, like, subscribe, whatever, and if I know they need it, then I do disable my adblock on their videos. But that's consensual. If they can't support themselves without shoving that shit down my throat, then they can go broke if they want, they shouldn't be doing it. It should be less invasive an more consensual. There should be alternative options like donations, subscriptions, or whatnot, because ads are, by far, the worst way from a consumer standpoint to make me want to give you service.
My firefox broke the other day and i lost my add ons. The prophecies came true, my god what did Youtube turn into?
Would be funny if they'd enable ads on this video.
Well, looks like people are content to click away at endless videos as long as they don't have to pay for it. Nothing is free. Advertising enables A LOT of things to exist. Some of your favourite sports or teams wouldn't exist, were it not for advertising. How do you think they make their money? Can anyone say SUPERBOWL? I bet that generates a lot of funds, enabling the entire spectacle to exist. Some facts: 1: Most youtube ads are either 5 seconds long, or a small box appears which you can cross out. Big fucking deal, in order to enable the site to be a viable business. 2: Advertisers have the option of paying youtube more to force you to watch the entire ad. This is expensive. See Google AdWords for more info. 3: There is an option to only allow your video to be seen on platforms which can display ads. As more idiots block the ads, more uploaders will start ticking this box. 4: I have 2.2+ million views on my videos, since the ads started. A bit over 1% of people clicked the ads. This is why some videos don't appear on mobile-based youtube. 5: I can make about $2 per 1000 views. As you can imagine, this is where most of the money comes from. When people block ads, content creators get nothing, and are discouraged from making more. Do you like Epic Meal Time or whatever other channel? Want them to make more? Encourage them by giving them what they deserve. 6: In my most popular video, I've had about 93,000 views since the start of the year. Nearly 59,500 or so are ad-enabled. That's over 1/3 loss. You have to take mobiles into account. But its still a significant amount.
