I can agree with everything here except for Joe being similar to Roman.
At first I thought the same, a chubby sidekick who knows the main character from childhood? But actually they aren't the same, Joe is actually a tough guy, he's smart too, he plans a lot of things throughout the game and influences Vito quite a lot, while in GTA4, Roman has little influence throughout the game, is quite stupid and weak, and all he cares about is women and money, while to me it seems Joe cares more about respect than those things, he wants to be a made man not just because of the material gain, but also because of the power and the respect.
So I can't agree with him on that one.
