Wait what? DLC for early access? What game is it? I want to see this :v:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/239220/ By the looks of it they've actually removed the DLC. [editline]18th January 2014[/editline]
You missed the point, though - he was talking about how there is insufficient information on the store page on the current and planned state of the game, and the most you can find is "yeah the game's not finished and is going to change loads" and "doors no longer float" - this is useless to someone who is gauging whether or not the game's worth paying for at the moment.
so why look at the changelog?
wow that rust description

If the developer isn't putting enough effort into updating their material and putting additions into the change log then it's their problem.

I didn't like his little quip about not being paid for making games until they're finished and that in doing so goes against "The Traditional Model of Development~~~". Fuck off seriously. Serious developers don't work on games in their free time. If this was the case, then studios wouldn't need publishers. [editline]18th January 2014[/editline] Does he hate kickstarter too?
So what's wrong with Starforge?
The trailer had way more features than what was actually in the early access, as in the early access didn't have anything at all, it was an empty map with "fort defense" and empty map where you shoot down trees Since the release of it about a year ago you can now do """"fort defense"""" in an empty map but now you can craft slightly more shit with supplies that aren't even in the game yet
I was planning on enjoying some Starbound with my friends for a year now. The early access came out, some of my friends wanted to wait to play a 'complete game' and some played the shit out of it and are tired of it already. Never going to have a coop experience with them like we did with Terraria. I really hope early access doesn't become the norm for indie games.
I really hope early access doesn't become the norm for indie games.
Prepare to be disappointed.
I really hope early access doesn't become the norm for indie games.
It.. kinda already has, which is why this video was made.
Here's an idea: don't blindly buy games because they're in the top sellers.
But how is Garry going to fund his upcoming mansion then?
I wonder what TB thinks of Star Citizen.

I don't think the changelog is really the place for that kind of thing though, having bigger "updates" (like TF2 does, toned down a little) might be a better way since it gives a better way of understanding what was added (as well as keeping their store page up to date). Though there's always going to be some people who are trying to swindle cash for a shitty product.
Great to see Jimquisition getting some attention. I really see nothing wrong with Early access games. The deal though should always involve the early access being cheaper than when the game is actually released. Just a great way for indies to fund a game while they're making it.
TB you don't have to lie, Rust is terrible and we all know it.
I wonder what TB thinks of Star Citizen.
Maybe disappointment? He did seem to have an appreciation for the game from what I recall a long while back.

care to elaborate on that?
While I agree with a lot of the points TB makes the discussion thread in the subreddit he linked in the comments is mind boggling. He's acting like a complete child when anyone so much as even partly disagrees with him with a well explained argument.
I mostly agree with the consensus that "Early Access is a good idea, but can very easily be, and has been, abused to launch games without ever finishing them." But it seems most of his opinion pieces usually has the phrase "IF THIS TREND CONTINUES, THE BIG LEAGUE COMPANIES WILL LIKE THE IDEA AND DEN ALL OF GAMING WILL DIEEEEEE!!!1!1" I'm certain no big league company would be caught DEAD actually releasing a game that wasn't at least mostly finished.

He has anger issues and takes comments very personally. There was a point where his doctor gave him stress relieving medicine and told him explicitly to not interact with the comments on his videos. He has a hard time separating criticism of his arguments and criticisms of his person.
He has a hard time separating criticism of his arguments and criticisms of his person.
Probably because most of the time people don't bother to separate the two He's far from the only one with "anger issues" like that
I'm certain no big league company would be caught DEAD actually releasing a game that wasn't at least mostly finished.
Ha, well at they wouldn't openly admit it. I would say that some already been doing it in the case of Mmorpg's and games that are really incomplete experience without all of the expansions.
I think prison architect did a pretty good job with the whole informed decision making with their game.
Man, I wish subversion wasn't on dev hell right now
It's really rare nowadays that early-access games will be decent right off the bat. Really, the only good early-access game I've played is Starbound.
Early Access should have a price maximum put on it for the first few months seeing as how you are buying into an incomplete game with the intent hopefully that you wish to support the devs or that you want to play the game in a working bare bones state which gets updated frequently.
Probably because most of the time people don't bother to separate the two He's far from the only one with "anger issues" like that
Nah he really is needlessly abrasive to people who leave comments on his videos. It's my only criticism of someone who releases consistently good content. I've been subbed to him since 2009.
At the Rust part, who the fuck reads the updates before they but an early access game, or any game? What the hell? Just watch a video or something, seriously! I think that part of TBs criticism was slightly misguided.

But we have a plan. It's in our interest to make the game awesome - so please trust us.”
Is pretty pointless.
