What is the legal driving age to drive solo in the US? In Australia it's 18 to have a provisional license and you have to be on your provisional license for 4 years before getting your full driving license.
This kid looks like he should be in primary school.
Like holy fuck he can't even see over the steering wheel.
Dunno where you live, but it's 17 in Queensland
16 to get your Learner license where you drive with somebody else, then have that for a year (And drive 100 hours) to get your Provisional and drive solo
in colorado its permit at 15 if you pay a fee or 15 1/2
have to have permit for a year and 50 hours of driving to get license
its fun!!!
Kid's really lucky though.
My parents never let me drive, not even on gravel at 5-10 mph.

it's 15 in california, but you have to get at least half a year's worth of driving experience + 40 or so hours. gotta do some online bullshit to get your permit too, then you've gotta go to the DMV and do the written test and driving test. you can't drive your friends around legally until you're 18, tho, and you have to have legal guardians with you i think.
i'm turning 18 in a week so there's no point in me even bothering with the permit shit; i can just walk in there, take the test, drive around some cones, and walk out with my license.

In aus you have to be 24 to get your license that way, otherwise you have to do 250 hours of driving with your parents/gaurdian before getting a provisional license.

Imagine driving with that person riding shotgun - they can walk.
DO you not understand why she was freaking out?
her young son was driving a car and she didn't want to crash or anything.
I doubt she's like that when someone licensed is actually driving. Mom's have a right to freak out.
My mother was still like this even after I had a license for 2 years. I guess it was because the autobahn has no speed limit here and we had a V6 VW Passat back then, shit was fast.

in WA its only 50.
Honestly wasn't that bad, it's what moms do. I thought she was going to lose her shit completely but she calmed down pretty quick and the dad and the kid acted real cool too. Seems like a nice family.
This shit is why I don't drive my parents anywhere.
When you learn to drive, especially with a young child you should always take them to an empty parking lot or something first, I was told that before you learn how to drive on the road you should learn how to drive off it first so that you know how to handle your car well.
Also in the NT you literally don't have to log any hours, you just have to have held your learners license for six consecutive months which you can get the day you turn 16, and pass a very easy P's test. In the wet season you don't even have to parallel park or hill start. Most relaxed laws in Australia.
Took me half a year to get my license, passed on new years eve last year. I used to get anxious before a lesson and I still do now I've passed but when I'm in the driving seat my nerves go away, it's weird as fuck and annoying.

No. I'm pretty sure the max of any state is 120 hours (100 day + 20 night), as it was when I did it, and it can be with anyone who has a full licence (I can't remember if they needed to have their full licence for a few years or not though). You can also do up to 10 hours of driving with a certified instructor which would be counted as 30 hours.
This will be a cake walk for the police :v:
She was a lot more calm than my mum or sister being in the car while I was learning to drive. Granted, I wasn't perfect because with anything you get better with experience; but fuck, you could swear I was drifting around corners going 80mph if they were riding with me. It definitely doesn't help with someone like that in the car while someone inexperienced is behind the wheel.
In all seriousness when you have such little experience with driving the most dangerous thing you could do is put a wailing distractive individual in the vehicle with you.
She's looking cute.
he forgot to tell the kid to let go of the wheel if he wants it back to center. its a real habit to get rid of and pretty much stopped my sis from getting hers for a while since she couldnt turn as smoothly.
Yeah and he should be pushing the brake with his hands too.
I started driving with my dad a month ago, the first day i just drove around the block and the day after i drove my mom around town for about 30 min, and she kept calm the whole way, i cant understand how she is freaking out about him driving, i was even driving stick!
Is his dad jacking him off? Why does he have his hand down there?
My mom was even worse. She'd scream and flinch over every little thing.
she's like ewhat my dad was until he got a blackberry then he never said a word while I'm getting us more and more lost since I've never driven to the place he wanted to go which is in the middle of nowhere
that being said my brother learning how to drive was a huge ordeal since he still is a horrible paranoid road-rage prone driver, literally everyone who passes him he thinks is pissed off at him and flipping him off, which is genuinely not the case.
why is she freaking out that much she doesn't even have her seatbelt on
i think this is just something moms do
cuz my mom still freaks out when i drive but i'm like wtf i've been driving back and forth to college every day
They keep saying 98. Do they mean Highway 98, here in Florida? Yeah no that kid shouldn't be on 98, damn place is a death trap. Not so bad in the winter in the middle of the week, but say right now this very minute, you have to drive down it like John Cusak did in 2012. The majority of the entire Panhandle's traffic is on that highway
[editline]12th April 2014[/editline]
Yeah, they said Tigerpoint Park, which isn't what that park's called, but that's just down the road from me
it must suck to have someone freaking out like that while you're trying to learn how to drive
Is it a felony to get your kid to do that? Recording it will look bad in court.
I felt sorry for her, she's obviously not comfortable with her very young son; the most important thing to her in the world, driving something potentially dangerous to the inexperienced. She's just being protective like any sane mother would and getting paranoid about everything. TBH they shouldn't have put her through that, she did actually burst into tears.
Is it a felony to get your kid to do that? Recording it will look bad in court.
are you asking if it is a felony to teach your kid how to drive?
Is it a felony to get your kid to do that? Recording it will look bad in court.
How else are people going to learn how to drive. I learned from a police officer who went through two academies and had to go to Inservice training for a week once a year every year. Rather learn from him than some flake in a public school that gives you maybe 10 minutes of actual driving experience and 6 months of lecturing.
You can tell someone how to ride a bike all you want, they won't learn until they actually do it
Is it illegal? Technically, it's illegal to drive without a permit or license unless it's private property you have permission to use, or you own. But you'd be hard pressed to find a cop that'll arrest you or perhaps even write an actual ticket if they should stop you while doing it down the quiet empty street of your neighborhood. However, on Highway 98, completely different story
