Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that fleet was only an expedition fleet? It was still meant to take control of the Koprulu sector, but I dont remember it being stated that was all the UED ever had. Its really neat to see a decent cinematic with the Protoss fighting, though. All we got in the original StarCraft was dragoons blasting some Terrans and Fenix's blade dying on him.
Well yeah technically the UED expedition force was an expedition fleet, but their mission was to annihilate the Terran dominion, capture the entire zerg swarm and pacify all Protoss resistance in the sector (Which almost worked too) which I don't think a normal expedition force would do. And after their destruction earth could only withdraw it's plans for control of the Korpulu sector and reform it's forces over time to possibly send another invasion force in the future.
I like this because it accurately shows what happens in game; archons melt through zerglings, banelings cause damage to units who kill them and pylons are used as mobile unit spawns. It kind of teaches the player the things they might want to be doing when they start playing. I just think it's awesome how they brought many things from the game to life with this scene, like how templars move in delayed frames and how two templars merge into an archon.
What was wrong with HoTS's SP? I personally enjoyed it more than Wings of Liberty.
OP hero unit that has no punishment when it dies and it infinitely spawns. Also lots of levels that require 0 "strategy" in a supposed RTS. The game is a lot easier than WoL too. I've seen people struggle with the last mission of WoL, down to the last moments when playing on Brutal. But in HoTS the entire game is a cakewalk to them. Also I think the story's dumb, but that's more subjective.

Zerg is also my favorite faction so I might be biased.

You just steamrolled things with Kerrigan or the other Mary Sues that infinite respawn.
So why are the zerg still hostile again? Different clusters or hives?
fuck me that archon fight was amazing felt some real power being traded in those blows, reminded me of pacific rim
So why are the zerg still hostile again? Different clusters or hives?
Well there was that one Brood Mother who got sent off towards the Protoss and lost contact with Kerrigan, so she probably still thinks she's meant to fuck them up. Also at this point I don't think the Protoss got the memo that Kerrigan is alright now.
Also at this point I don't think the Protoss got the memo that Kerrigan is alright now.
Even if they have been told I doubt many are going to believe that the zerg are suddenly not the same threat they used to be.

Plus, the biggest reason that Kerrigan completely destroyed the remaining fleet was to stop them from returning to Earth (although the plausibility of this is in question, as it is likely that DuGalle's message to his wife made it back to Earth, and even Infested Stukov in HotS states that the UED will return). I guess there really isn't a way to know the proportion of the expedition fleet compared to the UED's main forces, as it was never explicated stated in the game. I think the biggest problem for me with HotS was that the Brutal difficulty was no where near as hard as in Wings of Liberty. I remember literally getting frustrated with several missions in the latter of the two. In HotS all I really had to do was slap in zergling reconstitution and keep throwing them in with Kerrigan or Hydras/Mutas and the enemy armies would melt no matter what. But as you can tell by my avatar I love the Zerg, so the campaign still sits in a soft spot for me.
super lame. sc1 cinematics were way better
fuck me that archon fight was amazing felt some real power being traded in those blows, reminded me of pacific rim
Sure as heck beats the fight between Fem-Diablo and Imperius. Absolutely nothing in that fight felt epic. "You scratched my face...I'm going to shatter your glass!"
Honestly, this looked pretty, but it's Blizzard, we know they do pretty. Nothing else in this was too interesting though. The way the archon warped out was kinda cool, but that was it. It was a just fight scene in a single field with some cheesy "MY LEIF 4 AYUR" dialogue going on. I was hoping for more.

I'm noticing that Blizzard's cinematic dialogue is getting more and more ham-fisted. Don't get me wrong, graphically their videos are absolutely beautiful, but stuff like this and D3's dialogue are so terribly cheesy.
This is opening cinematic. It's kinda lame as that.
I don't count their Opening Cinematics as Opening anything. They never really do much for story wise. It's like they make the trailers and go "Yea I don't want to make a proper intro so lets just use what we have here from our teaser." Heart of the Swarm was cool, had an epic battle take place but it didn't actually introduce anything. And Wings of Liberty was worse. All it showcased was Tychus, a character we didn't even know about at first, being released from prison with a ticking time bomb strapped all over his body. Hell if anything that spoiled the ending of WoL and shouldn't have been a thing. I would have found that to be an interesting twist had I not been clued in by the Opening Cinematic.

It always seemed kind of odd, especially seeing the fight between Zeratul and Kerrigan in that very cinematic.
I really want to see more UED. Now that they (probably) know that the Koprulu sector is a force to be reckoned with they'll bring their shiny things
with SC2 coming out in 2010 I feel they could have either pushed back SC2 or released these sooner, but still exciting.
