Ron Paul seems like the sanest Republican i've ever seen, but i'm not very informed about his policies, this is just the opinion i've gathered from various videos on his views. There's probably some bias as a lot of facepunch supports him so there'd likely be bias towards him, but based on what i've seen he seems like a good candidate. Is that all the bases covered?
You've got people who'll be like, "Hurr durr hes a racist though!!!11"
Fuck you Mitt Romney

Correct me if I'm wrong though, hes not for gay rights or gay marriage, and is against abortion. His positives weigh about the same as his negatives sadly, but still the most sane and viable candidate for president, I'll vote for him over Obama.

Paul said he believes that states should have the right to legalize gay marriage, marijuana, and prostitution if they choose to do so. "If you do not protect liberty across the board, it's a First Amendment–type issue," he said. "We don't have a First Amendment so we can talk about the weather. We have the First Amendment so we can say very controversial things. So, for people to say that, 'Yes, we have our religious beliefs protected, but people who want to follow something else, or a controversial religion — you can't do this' ... if you have the inconsistency, then you're really not defending liberty. But there are strict rules on freedom of choice of this sort, because you can't hurt other people, you can't defame other people, but yes, you have a right to do things that are very controversial. If not, you're going to end up with a government that can tell you what to eat or drink or whatever." In my opinion if someone cannot listen and talk with the people of his or her country, they do not deserve to lead them.
That's extremely rude to just walk away and not even answer a question to a man who has a series disease. Fuck you Mitt Romney.

You're leaving every major controversial right up to the States!
The [federal] government should stay out of people's personal habits The [state] government has every right to tell you what to do and what not to do "If you don't protect liberty across the board" - but Paul, you aren't willing to!
Yeah, left up to the states, where the citizens can have input.
So instead of 51% of the country's elected official telling you what to do you have 51% of your State's population telling you what to do?
So instead of 51% of the country's elected official telling you what to do you have 51% of your State's population telling you what to do?
My vote would essentially be worth more if it were left up to the states.
I think alot of the opposition to medical marijuana come from the way it is "abused" in places like California. If it was reserved for people with serious medical conditions and regulated as so I think attitudes would be more likely to change in favor of medical legalization and onward to full legalization. I think it should be legal regardless but we must take baby steps.
why does ron paul even count as republican he seems like more of a liberal
as i've said many times now Ron Paul 2012 Romney is a Mormon retard and should be fucking exposed for the corporate bullshit he's done This is newt Gingrich's new anti-Romney documentary that just came out, just watch it.
Holy shit, fuck you Romney.
My vote would essentially be worth more if it were left up to the states.
It's still a contradiction (in my view). "I want people to be allowed to do whatever they want - even if they have that right but choose not to exercise it" followed up with "unless your State is filled with bigoted idiots" (when pertaining to something like, say gay marriage / rights). Basically Ron Paul being elected and leaving everything up to the States could literally change nothing (not saying that it wouldn't change anything, but saying there's a chance it would stay completely the same). Not terribly libertarian if you can't live your life "free" because your neighbor is an asshole.
why does ron paul even count as republican he seems like more of a liberal
Uh, no. Liberals are generally for larger federal government, healthcare and social benefits from taxpayer's dollars (unless you're talking classic liberal, but that's not really the modern meaning.) If anything he's Libertarian, which takes the best parts IMO of Liberals (equality for everybody in terms of social), and Conservatives (economics, non-intervention of the government). I would associate myself as a Libertarian, although I'm not as extreme as some people, who could be considered Anarchists and want absolutely no government. I just believe the government's place should be to provide public education, law enforcement, and to encourage healthy competition. Republicans generally have a really bad stigma around here, but really their core principles aren't that bad, it's just the overly Christian, gay hating, insane candidates that give their core ideas a bad name. Ron Paul, in my opinion, definitely fits the Republican bill much more, but doesn't come with the batshit insanity of most candidates.
I wouldnt really call that a documentary, considering its sole purpose is to make Romney look bad. Its more of a 30 min long attack ad. Im glad Newt stuck to that positive campaign promise.
i know he's a libertarian i might've worded that wrong i'm wondering why he's running for the republican party
because he won't ever win if he runs as a libertarian (essentially 3rd party) president candidate
because he won't ever win if he runs as a libertarian (essentially 3rd party) president candidate
I couldn't even imagine how little media coverage Ron would get if he ran as third party. I mean he already gets little coverage as it is.
I guess I was thinking of another republican nut job, thanks for correcting me, I may vote for him in the Florida primaries then.
No, Ron Paul was connected to those newsletters, and he defended them in the past. http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/12/27/395391/fact-check-ron-paul-personally-defended-racist-newsletters/?mobile=nc However, I still think he's the most sane republican candidate, and even if he privately stood by those newsletters I don't think he would do anything to harm civil rights while in office; to do so would be a contradiction of his ideology. I don't think we should deny the facts, but I also don't think it's that relevant. Everyone's done things they regret, presidential candidates included. The real question is whether this disqualifies him as a candidate, and based on everything he's been saying, I don't think it does.
I'm going to be completely honest...but I don't think Mitt was in that big of a wrong. Muscular Dystrophy is a horrible disease, but what do you say to that? He's against marijuana, he gave his answer. He can't just flip flop as a politician. We all know that he wouldn't have the man in the wheel chair arrested. The mans situation is incredibly unfortunate though. I knew a child growing up with MD and it was really depressing watching him go from being to walk in fourth grade, to wheel chair bound in high school.
States honestly should not be able to decide basic human rights. Shit, look at prop 8.
