MASS EFFECT™: ANDROMEDA – Gameplay Series #2: Characters
I don't think they've shown enough of the game yet to have this opinion. My favorite part of the series has always been the settings so I'm excited to see the next video on exploration as that was a cool but very flawed part of the first game.
the gameplay looks fine. fun and flashy. the story (so far) looks just terrible. the main villains just look like rocky collectors. the companions both look and sound awful. so yes, that leaves exploration for now. but im not holding my hopes. what little exploration we've seen didn't entice me at all
am i not allowed to voice my disappointment with what ive seen so far? why is it alright to voice ones excitement? i genuinely dont think andromeda looks exciting whatsoever. theres not a single part of me that looks forward to it and i actually want andromeda to be good. i love the mass effect setting (well, plus-minus some parts due to me3). its a great setting for sci-fi adventures. but andromeda has nothing. theres nothing about it that really stands out as special or worthwhile.
Because saying something as shit as,
i am amazed by the fact that people are willing to pay 60$ for this.
Makes you sound like an idiot rather than someone expressing his disappointment, if you had taken what you just said and went with that initially it'd would've been fine, but instead you had to dis people who are actually interested in the game and question what they want to buy like they're dumb.
am i not allowed to voice my disappointment with what ive seen so far?
It'd be nice if you stated the reasons as to why you're disappointed instead of shitting on people who aren't. And please be more specific about what you find "not exciting", is it the combat, the RPG elements, the characters?
edit: sorry, didn't see your response above
I'm kind of mixed on the squad at the moment. On the one hand I would have loved to have had races we hadn't seen much of aside from the one character; like salarians (which I hear there was a cut salarian squadmate), quarian aand drell. In that instance Jaal is most interesting because he's all new. On the other hand, what it comes down to is how well they are written. What differenciates Peebee and Liara as they're both reclusive asari; or Wrex and Drack who are both grizzled old krogan; and whatever other similarities can be drawn.
Hopefully, the ship's crew will be a lot more diverse. Having a salarian pilot and asari doctor seems to prove that it will.
I'm not sure if this is a popular opinion or not, but I hate bioware's trend of spoiling most of the cast before the game is even out. For DA:I you knew the backstory of every character before the game was even released.

In DA:I they even made the character's look way more cliched in their previews than they were in the game. Some of the characters had fan fiction tier descriptions on their character pages.
you mean the guy named cole whose hair was a mop? and it was literally "nothing personel kid" the profile

I thought Peebee was very forward and rebelious? She doesn't seem anything like Liara aside from being into science
I see they went for the DA:I way in respect to making all the female characters look ugly as sin.
I thought Peebee was very forward and rebelious? She doesn't seem anything like Liara aside from being into science
If I recall, she's also kind of a lone because of itr; which Liara was, in a way, which made her socially awkward. So I was referring to them in a very general sense. I could be wrong.
Reading her background again, yeah, she's more of the opposite of Liara.
Also, I'm hoping all the characters have a potential to be killed.
i like how they were okay with showing the fiend turning its back while being shot at. good ai
these names are the dumbest
you gotta wonder what they were thinkin when they decided to name a main character "peebee".

Well, it can be difficult to sum a character up in a paragraph.

Sera 2.0

Everything about Sera is repulsive.
Minor thing but thought it was kind of silly how at the end of the video, they shoot a probe into the orbiting satellite :v:
Not sure how much I like the "Anyone can do anything at any time." approach.
Weren't you supposed to have some innate talent with biotics to even be capable of using them in the last games? I remember the Asari all being capable of them was unique to them.
This ensures they don't have to balance jack shit in the SP once the meta is found.

Not in a bioware game.
Jaal looks fuckin' dumb. Like somebody left cotton candy out in the sun for a few days.
"Each of your 6 squad mates has 3 active and 2 passive skills"
Wait hold the fuck up, only 6 squad mates ? That seems very low compared to other recent Bioware games, I really hope they are hiding some due to spoilers
if the trends in gaming have taught us anything in the past 10 years, it's that less is more
we've hit a breaking point where I think people are starting to realize that by reducing the scope (ie in this instance, reducing the number of companions) you get to put that much more effort and focus into strengthening the smaller cast. Hopefully this will create a more cohesive and engaging experience.

granted i have zero experience with bioware games beyond KOTOR & ME1/2/3 so I have no idea if any sort of hope can be had in that endeavor, I'm a little skeptical considering some of what I've seen of their recent stuff but hey i love ME so I'll play ball assuming the reviews are decent

Okay but calling out other people for wanting to buy it is just pompous.

Oh I definitely agree with you, I'm just not a very big fan of the squad mates that we currently have seen (Other than the krogan ofcourse, gotta love krogans) so I was hoping for there to be some more options to choose from.
the more of everything they show off the more everything looks like just another bioware game. i think im gonna pass on this.

Not at all. The first Mass Effect had six squadmates. Mass Effect 3 had seven squadmates, but depending on your choices from the previous games, your squad could have been as low as three. Mass Effect 2 may have had thirteen squadmates, which meant there was a nice variety of characters with unique personalities [sp]despite all having daddy issues[/sp], but even I was hardpressed to use all of them regularly, instead regularly using only about four or five of them

Ironically turned out to be an interesting character, along with most the other party members in fact. I was more surprised that I liked Iron Bull and Cole than I did. But Sera and Vivienne are some the worst, the only redeeming features is that they're pretty good in combat due their special classes, otherwise they aren't even needed.
Sera is indisputably awful. Vivienne's worst offense is just being boring.
But the rest of DA:I's cast is actually really damn good.
Vivienne is a bitch but she knows she is and owns dat shit, also she nearly swears when you ask her about getting a gift for Sera.

The ghost boy's was the worst ever, even though he's a really cool character in game. But holy fuck whomever wrote that description should have never been tasked to write professionally

Vivienne is a great character. She's a massive hypocrite and she knows it, and she doesn't give a fuck. I played a mage who didn't give any fucks about the Chantry and I was shocked that my most hated character was another mage. It was fucking great telling her off.
Sera on the other hand is a shit character, she's meant to be an endearing and playful person, who is in touch with the common people and fights for them when no one else will. In reality she's incredibly childish and she blames the rich for fucking everything, her plans to "help the people" have very little positive effect for the people and serve mostly to fuck over the rich to satisfy her own prejudices.
Which would be fine if you could fucking call her out on her bullshit. The best thing about Sera is that when you first meet her you can tell her that you don't want her, and that if she does join you always have the option to just kick her out.

Sera is literally the only Bioware character I've refused to recruit before.
Usually I need to get EVERYONE even on repeat playthroughs for completionist's sake. Not Sera. Every replay after my first I never recruit her.
