Are you serious? CoD has NEVER sold itself on realism. It appreciates authenticity but certainly not realism.
The developers throw the word around like a tennis ball :v: Are YOU serious?
The developers throw the word around like a tennis ball :v: Are YOU serious?
Quote? Video? Something? You can't just say that without providing a source. I've never seen CoD labeled as a realistic game by anyone. [editline]3rd November 2011[/editline]
It does fails horribly on authenticity though now, you gotta admit that.
I hate to be a dick to someone who literally stalks every post I make about generic war games Simkas, but holy shit you are really bad at words. Authenticity means simply recreating a believable environment. Having an M4 or nukes in a modern warfare setting is authenticity. It's not realistic; it's authentic. They are two entirely different things.
The developers throw the word around like a tennis ball :v: Are YOU serious?
I think the word you're looking for is hyper-realism, which by definition, CoD is a perfect example of.
Oh right there's a certain limit on how crazy and illogical we can have games. You people are a fucking joke.
You sound like thisispain only even more arrogant and self-induced. CoD1, 2 and 3 had little to no scenario - it wasn't the goal of the game and the developers knew it. With CoD4, they decided to give the story more importance, which was passable. With MW2, and now MW3, not only do they give the story an important place, but they also act like it was perfectly written, all serious and shit. At least bad company made a lot of fun with the old America vs Russia gimmick, it wasn't taken seriously by the developers and wasn't supposed to be taken seriously by the players either.

You atleast succeeded in proving my point perfectly by holding Bad Company to an entirely different standard than CoD, but only one of those games broke an entertainment sales record so I'll let that one pass. Thanks for the compliment though, being compared even remotely to thisispain means my posting has certainly improved, even though I'm pretty sure your qualifications on Facepunch leave much to be desired.
I will give credits, MW3 (and 2 and 1) have fantastic single player cinematics. It's depressing how ignored the single player campaigns are for both games.
Yeah the EMP bomb in MW2, that level blew my mind away

I'm not even going to bother giving another proper argument. I gave one and you weren't able to counter it, so you are pretty much fucked and discredited of all credibility. See you around.

MW2 had none of that.
The 'acting' and graphics made it look 10 years old.

If that's how you want to spend your time then hey, more power to you.
Yeah because if you aren't a game designer you aren't allowed to criticize a game right
This idea that internet armchair critics can make a game better than the Modern Warfare series is more the idea I was going for but since I know that would be hard to argue you can make that strawman.
This idea that internet armchair critics can make a game better than the Modern Warfare series is more the idea I was going for but since I know that would be hard to argue you can make that strawman.
Please don't bring out the "if you can't do better you can't say anything bad" argument up. Just don't, that'll make you lose any credibility.
You're the one going into every thread for MW3 and BF3 and starting arguments.
I'm not arguing with anyone as I haven't really presented an opinion and stuck with it. I don't give two shits about MW3. I just find it funny that every time a CoD thread comes out kids feel the need to bash the series and make utterly insane posts about every minute little detail they catch in a video or a news release. It's crazy, but pretty funny at the same time.

I seriously can't tell if you are that challenged or are purposefully skewing my points.
Would you guys kindly shut the fuck up.
The fact that the entire storyline doesn't make a bit of sense isn't a "little detail".
Good thing I wasn't talking about the entire storyline. I was talking about people pointing out the tiniest shit. Your posts are embarrassing.
My names Simkas I can't read words then process them into thoughts. I seriously can't tell if you are that challenged or are purposefully skewing my points.
You were trying to say all these critics act like they could make a better game and that they shouldn't be allowed to say anything if they can't. That's pretty much exactly what I was talking about in that post. [editline]3rd November 2011[/editline]
Good thing I wasn't talking about the entire storyline.
Would you guys kindly shut the fuck up.
Sure, spent too long in this shithole of a thread anyway. Going to go talk about video games in other threads now, you guys return to your daily circlejerk over how bad that extremely successful series is.
Oh look, they got strawberry jelly all over the camera lens.

You free this weekend?
Oh god I love the womans reaction to Big Ben. It's been there all the time, but when she turns around she's like. "OH MY GOD ARE YOU GETTING THIS?!?! IT'S BIG BEN HOLY SHIT!" While the little girl is all like "BUUURDS"
"Death to Britain"
"Chemical attacks all across Europe" .... Wait how the fuck did they not notice a shitload of cars coming from Russia and not notice anything suspicous about it? If there's a shitload of trucks moving around Europe and exploding...... don't you think they would notice that? And weren't they watching Russia to begin with? So they must have upgraded the security on the borders and shit.
You are forgetting something. [sp]Its Call of Duty[/sp]
You are forgetting something. [sp]Its Call of Duty[/sp]
And that's exactly why it's so stupid and unwelcome. The story takes itself too seriously while call of duty is nothing but an (overpriced) arcade shooter.
"Prime minister, we just got word that London was hit with a non conventional weapon, a chemical bomb. Similar attacks have been detected across Europe and are clearly Russian. Death is estimated to be in the tens of thousands. How should we proceed?" "Very well. You have my permission to deploy our nuclear arsenal." "Are you sure?" "no LOL lets let them come over and invade and theres gonna be like this huge thing in front of the house of parliament in like england but like the e is replaced with 3 and like everything goes BOOOOOM and everything like explodes and theres people with gas masks like shooting the bad guyz and its gonna be awesome ROFL"
Nice intermission I suppose, but an utterly unconvincing scene. They probably didn't take the time to characterize the people in the scene either, which leads to the sudden explosion appearing more comical rather than tragic.
