I remember when I tried helping my friend get into Warhammer 40k and he had difficulty being interested in the lore enough to actually study it. Lexicanum and the books didn't help. But making him read the Warhammer 40k article on 1d4chan made him a fan. http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Warhammer_40,000 It's very basic skin deep lore though but it was fun.

It has been theorized by Imperial scholars that the Tyranids will eventually bring forth a massive Hive fleet that would consume everything, however, this is said to be kept back by something more powerful than the Emperor and Chaos combined: GW's refusal to move the WH40K storyline forward.
:v:
If enough Orks genuinely believed the common cold caused humans heads to explode, they probably would. :v: Seriously. Imagine a Wartrakk running out of fuel. One of the smaller Orks at the back goes and yells "OY U GUYZS DIDN'T TOP 'ER UP YA GROTS!". The Wartrakk grinds to a halt, screeching as its breaks comically bring it to a dead stop, flinging a Grot or two off the front. The big Nob at the front looks back, punches the smaller Ork in the gob, and yells "NAH YA FILTHY SQUIG HERDER, I TOPPED 'ER UP WELL AND GOOD WHEN WE STARTED". The other Orks look on. He is the biggest Ork, and he said he topped 'er up, so he probably did. The Nob crushes a Grot, opens the door, turns on the Wartrakk, and it starts again - the fuel meter was removed ages ago, but the tank seems full enough. The WAAAGGH party drives on, at full speed.
God, I fucking love that, they're so stupid, yet so crazily powerful. The best rule GW has is that Orks think things that are red go faster, SO THINGS THAT ARE PAINTED RED ACTUALLY GO FASTER. If the supreme ork was actually intelligent enough to realize this, he could just tell everyone that he knows that the imperium of man is actually on his side, and then they would be! But they're dumb, so they won't.
I think he fucked with the entire necron back story. Some say it's better but I liked them being a faction of unstoppable terminators that do the will of the C'tan. Never mind them teaming up with the Blood Ravens.
lovecraft terminator farmers were sure unique and special..................................
I fucking love the Orks and the "if i believe it it must be true" idea. It's simultaneously hilarious and awesome.
lovecraft terminator farmers were sure unique and special..................................
What's not to like? Of course its not unique since almost nothing in warhammer is unique. Most of the ideas for the lore are borrowed from elsewhere like navigators and the machine wars leading to thinking machines being banned coming straight from dune and so on. I liked the necrons even if they weren't anything unique, it's better than space egyptians.
Orks are the reason I always pick red in racing games
Wow that was incredible.

Can someone make a gif of 1:15 - 1:23 of the 2nd Video. Perfect reaction image.
The main problem with the lore is that it never goes anywhere really. It would be unprofitable for Games workshop to actually have certain parts of the story resolved so they just kind of sit in limbo, like how if the emperor dies the Imperium will collapse, but of course he won't die since it would kill the tabletop game, so he just sort of stays on the edge of death with the lore on this never really moving forward.
I see this get mentioned a lot and i really don't think it's a problem. People don't seem to realize that W40K is a setting, not a progressive story. If they advanced things it wouldn't be W40K anymore. Besides, even if they did that, i'm sure whatever they come up with would be pretty bad - such as some of the Horus Heresy novels are apparently terrible and would of been best if the Horus Heresy was never detailed so specifically. There are plenty of explanations for things like red painted vehicles going faster, if an Ork Mek is going to put a lot of work into a vehicle he's obviously going to give it some red paint when it's done, to the other Orks it's the same vehicle despite all the changes made, the only noticeable different is it's now painted red, but it is faster than before, therefore they think it was the Red paint that makes it faster.
I'm not sure if that site is a good idea for introducing people to W40K, considering pretty much all of it is very heavily exaggerated or not entirely true.
Oh no I didn't introduce people into Warhammer 40k with that. It was funny to read at the time. Like I said, the guy I showed it to was already reading Lexicanum and some Black Library books, not to mention he also had the 6th edition Imperial Guard codex. It's just that particular article made him loosen up more to the fandom.

The lore flat out states there are times humans have killed an ork, taken up his shoota, opened it up, and realised it's full of a load of bolts and screws, half of them doing fuck all, and that the shoota worked perfectly whilst the Ork was holding it. Bigger Orks are seen as more powerful due to it, and the more Orks are convinced, the stronger their effect on the gestalt field. It happens to many things, from weapons to ork bionics to painted explosives being more powerful, red vehicles faster, purple things stealthier and so on.

From what I've seen, there is not anywhere the lore that outright confirms it is true, and In-universe sources usually have lots of problems and are generally unreliable. There are plenty of times where humans have used Ork weapons and vehicles with no problems. The only thing about opening a shoota and seeing it's just an empty box with bolts and screws in is something listed on the W40K wiki, which unsurprisingly has no source listed at all.
I'm pretty sure it was covered in one of the Ork rulebooks, but I haven't got access to any of them where I am. Main issue is GW won't actually confirm how reality bending it is, it's gone from totally unreal to slight changes. (though how Ork ships work isn't really covered, since they are literally rockets attached to asteroids) I've only read the first three rulebooks or so though, so I might be massively out of date, especially with Matt Ward fucking it all up.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the thing with the orks is that they're really powerful psykers but none of them realize it, but they believe red vehicles go faster and shouting DAKKA makes your gun work so it happens. Also orks are fungal and release spores upon death that make more orks
I fucking love the Orks and the "if i believe it it must be true" idea. It's simultaneously hilarious and awesome.
Just imagine them piling garbage and then hitting it to make it work before an extermenatus. I can't spell.
No girls allowed, they are yucky I want an episode of this set in the "WH50k" fanlore, i'm sure the god-captain would have a few things to say about that

I theorise that many Ork inventions work because the Orks themselves think they should work - the strong telekinetic abilities of the Ork subconscious somehow ensuring they function as desired."
Ork logic, go back in time and kill yourself to get 2 of your favorite shoota.
I still think the ork logic behind using purple cammo the best one I mean, have you ever seen a purple ork?

Orks also have the ability to be decapitated, have their head sewn back on terribly, go back on Orking for Teef.

Next video will be about orks getting educated, calling it.
holy shit this series looks amazing just for the orks lmfao
THe Orks are amazing. Then there's the Tau, which is basically the Japanese Mecha Communism Empire of Space.
orks basically "win" 40k anyways because they just love war and there is only war
