Will watching the trailer spoil the main game?
Not at all
fuck you could even be told the ending and it wouldn't spoil it, it's a pretty big ending IMHO. It might even make it BETTER because you'll sit there TRYING to figure it out.
Okay if you're just going to straight up go into "you can't understand my vision you're dumb lel u cant reed", then you're trying too hard to win(?) this discussion and you're not worth anymore key strokes.
Ohh look at mister high and mighty here. We better watch out we've got a hardened internet badass!
Stop being a dick dude, story in games has become a big part of them because games have evolved past simple shooters where you are "big square" killing the "alien little squares". Story allows a game to have actual depth, to try and make the player think past "how can I eviscerate this dude in front of me". A good story in a game is a great driving force to play said game, you experience a character changing, or characters growing, you can become attached to them in a way books and films don't allow, you can most importantly, explore the world to find out what's up rather than having it told to you by a manual or exposition character.
Liking games that have good stories and average gameplay isn't bad, gameplay has started to reach a point where we are running out of great ideas. Shooting isn't going to change much, platforming has tried to become more fluid recently with parkour elements but that's it, stealth? can't really change stealth much.

Well you're acting, and in the past, have acted, like a fucking imbecile, of course people are going to call you stupid.
To be honest, Pre-fall Rapture seems like a decent place to live.
Some how, that also makes Post-fall Rapture seem more desolate and degraded, after you've seen how far it's fallen.

who the hell plays all games only for the gameplay anyways?
there are many games I play for pure gameplay, and even the opposite, purely for the story, some even for the visuals. Mostly for gameplay and secondarily story though.

Online shooters? Play them for the gameplay.
Rougelikes? Gameplay because the stories are piss weak.
Puzzle games? Story because the gameplay tends to be samey.
It depends entirely on the game genre and -player of it, single player games obviously need more focus on story, multiplayer games don't.

Then theres offline shooters like TES, Fallout, Farcry, HL2, etc that story gives the game gameplay diversity.
It's not just going base to base and destroying things, there are objectives and story GIVES those objectives. That is why story effects gameplay.

I never said story wasn't bad, I said story shouldn't be a complaining point when talking about a videogames enjoyment.
It is getting to the point where reviews and people talking about games only talk about the story and not what you actually did with the buttons. Games are about gameplay, but you all focus on story when talking about them, why? Is the game fun? Not really, it's pretty old stuff (bioshock 1&2). Is the story good? Didn't really care past the [sp]statue destorying bit[/sp] because it was trying to be smarter then it was.
Now it didn't take a literary genius to get that from my posts, did it?

People have been speculating Elizabeth is carrying herself. But if you look at the kid's hand, the pinky is still there.

Reviews focus on the story because that's a big part of games today. That was pretty simple to work out. Gameplay might be a big part of games, but it doesn't dictate whether a game is good or not if it's average, games are a sum of their parts, not their gameplay. If a story is particularly interesting and keeps me hooked, I can forgive wonky controls to a certain extent, I can forgive stupid AI to a lesser extent, because I'm enjoying the story, the world crafted for us to explore. If the gameplay is utterly atrocious of course the game is going to be bad.
"Games are about gameplay" is the most short sighted thing I've read for a while. Good work.

then thats your perspective, but, games can still focus on both and be very good. Some people don't play for game, some don't for story. But most people care more about the gameplay, I know I do. At the same time, story can play a huge part in addition to the gameplay.
and where I'm coming from is... the story and the gameplay for me can end up being one in the same for a lot of games. While story still being secondary. Far Cry 3 would seem to just be hopping around murdering people, the story gave me the drive to "Fucking murder the shit out of Vaas and Hoyt", and because of that, it reinforced the gameplay. If I wasn't encouraged to murder him, it wouldn't have nearly been as exciting. If I wanted a story, I'd read a book or watch a movie. No, I want MORE than a story.
and for me, Visuals and Audio is also big, depending on things. They simply reinforce gameplay, but are a good thing alone.

The ideal state of this concept is where you have great gameplay that drives a story forward. This makes the game's reward for playing not only be sense of achievement you get from reaching the win-states rewarding but also progress in the story that you are excited to see unfold. Then again, this isn't a requirement. Games that doesn't meet high standards in both the story and gameplay department can still be rewarding to play.

Totes don't see her hand in that? Just Elizabeth's holding the gun, which indeed appears to have a thimble on the pinky
