Moments like this I get the feeling that most let's players are generally bad at playing games. Would be a nice change of pace to see someone that knows what they're doing
why the fuck does this guy think looking at a wall is 'hiding'

Maybe they let Caboose do the playthrough.
Looks more interesting than the actual main gamemode.
My biggest problem with the game is just that I can't find the Alien scary anymore. It's too iconic and I've seen it too much. It doesn't have the mystery about it that it did when I first saw it. It's a shame because I really want this game to scare me, but I just don't think it will.

Then again you're watching videos of some dude playing. A giant unstoppable force that you can hardly outrun (or not at all) is always really scary when you're the one playing.
I mean just look at the Hunter in Dead space 1. That motherfucker regrows limbs and can't be killed, and you have to outrun him in a succession of enclosed spaces where the only way forward is to move away a bunch of heavy clutter with very slow telekinesis. I've played the game through five times (fifth being a cheating run where I was invincible) and that shit still gets me.
Then again that's more about tension than actual scare factor.

If this was true then I shouldn't get scared by any of the games I do because I find a lot of "horrific" designs awesome to look at.
It's how the creature/monster acts that makes it scary, If what you say is true all it would take to make the game scary for you would be to literally swap the alien model for something else. Yeah maybe looking at it isn't scary anymore but the game isn't just gonna throw an alien at you and task you with looking at it.
That was kinda, well, boring. The alien just isn't scary, and the death animations were really underwhelming.
At 5:45, if you look at the ceiling vent you can see the Aliens drool dripping. If he had walking under that directly the Alien would have killed him, camping in vents is one of the ways the Alien adapts to the player using the flamethrower
Holy shit
Oh man, Oculus Rift on this.
Really cautiously optimistic with this. Horror games like this are so easy to fuck up, and a licensed horror game based off one of the most famous and well known horror movies can fuck up 100x more.
Still, hope its fucking good, looks pretty damn good, glad this was just survival mode which seems pretty neat turning the horror aspect into a more challenging arcadey experience.
I like that they kept the flamethrower's ridiculous pilot light.

Seriously that thing was dangerous.
I can't watch any of these videos without freaking out. I probably will have a heart attack playing this, or at the very least some awful acid buildup in my stomach.
I like how the flamethrower can't kill the xenomorph. Seeing as how the flamethrower is really your best bet at taking one out in this situation, I am pleased to see that you really are defenseless.
This is gonna be good.
Sorry for the old bump, but I just saw this on Reddit:

Hardly a bump, and any discussion on this is welcomed since this is about the most active thread on Alien Isolation, since no one has made a general games discussion thread yet. I would make one but I don't think my OP would be that decent.
fuck, it looks good.
the hype train has left the station and they forgot to install new brakes in the monthly maintenance.
On one hand I don't want to get my hopes up given the track record of alien universe games lately - but on the other hand, A:I's hype has all been built up for me by actual gameplay footage and reading about those press events where people got to play it unlike A:CM where it was really just some early stuff and then a bunch of fake trailers/gearbox talking about how exciting it is.

You can also hear the self destruct klaxon straight from the movie when he messes with the power.
Shits awesome
Let's Players are going to be on this game like flies on a turd.
Game looks great though, I want it.
does this guy know how to play video games

Simon Pegg is great. Did you know Shaun of the Dead started because of a scene is Spaced where his character played so much Resident Evil that he thought his flatmate became a zombie when he was pulled away from the TV, which came from Pegg himself playing too much ResiEvil and not writing the script like he was supposed to.

I'd make a thread but you'd have to get me the game.
Like, in the sense that I'd make a superb thread but since I have no money for games for the next 3 months it would be kind of discouraging to make a thread for a game I wouldn't get to play.
Well, I guess I could still do it regardless. I could always hope for a 20%-25% discount during the Christmas sale but I doubt it will get discounted so soon.
It's definitely a game I'll try to get as soon as possible. I'll wait for the reviews but if I had the money I'd be very tempted to preorder it.
