you're actually really kind of an asshole
don't shit on this thread like you did the one with the guy on the bridge, you sound like a neckbeard
Don't act like a petulant little child when I present you with the truth. I bet you're one of those students that tries to revolt against the monarchy. You're making some pretty sweeping judgements regarding how this kid spends his time
Given the drinking culture in NZ (and the behaviour of some of the dominant groups in that particular part of Hamilton, New Zealand) he was probably influenced by seeing older members of his family (brothers, etc) or friends of the family drinking and wasn't properly taught the rights and wrongs of drinking.
We've got our own social problems that UK 'lad culture' shows don't really have any influence over
edit: also acting like a twat towards people based on their choice of avatar isn't cool either
i still don't understand the problem with lad culture
it's cool as hell

Oh, great, you're still talking all this bullshit about 'lad culture'.

how are you not murdered every day
do you ignore your own bullshit in order to refrain from murdering yourself
pixskull, this kind of culture has existed in New Zealand since at least the 50's, if not far earlier. 'Lad culture' has nothing to do with it.
Also regarding "Nothing to do in New Zealand except watch rugby and drink" is pretty much 100% accurate. It's the same reason our youth suicide rate is through the roof.
i am a lad and i am proud
what the fuck even is lad culture i'm american
what the fuck even is lad culture i'm american
It's just the generic douche/chav/lad/bro all of those over zealous alpha males with a drinking lifestyle. You basically get variants all over the world but it's basically a "I don't give a fuck" attitude.
The United Kingdom has a problem with binge drinking too. It's called the North of England.
I don't understand why the majority of you are so horrified over this video. It's much much worse in the UK. The children in the North of England will steal the laces out of your shoes for a gulp of alcohol and if you refuse to help them they will bludgeon you to death with a blunt instrument.
Terrible reasoning. So this isn't bad just because we have worse in the UK? Nah.
The United Kingdom has a problem with binge drinking too. It's called the North of England.

1. Sweeping judgements and negative generalisations about entire geographical locations and the people who live there and subsequent pinning of blame on these locations for the issues plaguing the nation in which this minor location exists.
2. Not understanding that tragedies that happen anywhere can be cause for concern.
3. Not understanding the general principle of the subjectivity of suffering (i.e., 'why are you so horrified about the North of England when much more horrible things happen in parts of Africa').
Verdict: Stop

You're also basing your ignorant opinions off of what I'm assuming is very little actual knowledge of New Zealand society beyond marketing and tourism advertisements, which is stupid. We've got good things and bad things going on, just like any other country.

New Zealand looks like a nice place.
But I am afraid the way water flows the other way down the plug hole might scare me to death.
You people need to wipe the slime from your eyes and stop sugar coating things. I am desensitized to this kind of stuff because I have witnessed it first hand.
I think he is talking about the statements on New Zealand, not UK.
Excuse me, sweeping judgements? I have witnessed their behaviour first hand. I have seen packs of these children devour a grown man for refusing to go in a shop to purchase alcohol for them.
Are you under some sort of illusion that New Zealand isn't represented in the press properly over here? The entire commonwealth has extensive news coverage over here.
One can only surmise that lad culture derives from Rugby in the New Zealand just as it does with our most popular sport football. Alcohol was a major factor in the downfall of our nations beloved game in the late 70's early 80's. It was tradition for young people to get drunk and attend football matches with one objective in mind. There is a correlation between sport and alcohol. This hooligan type mentality is still alive today only it has been re imagined in the shape of lad culture.

Here is an article on drinking culture existing in New Zealand (And Australia) since at least WW1
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_o'clock_swill
You've got to be a troll to blindly defend this ridiculous viewpoint that has been debunked literally every time you come and post
New Zealand's drinking culture is pretty shocking.
When I learned that there are other kinds of drinking other than drinking as much as possible as fast as possible (binge drinking) in the rest of the world I was surprised. Binge drinking in new zealand is just called 'drinking' here.
In New Zealand it's either 2 beers or 20.

If you think that the media shows anything as it truly is then you need to take your worldview outside, shake it around a bit and tell it to behave itself. I'm not talking about a media conspiracy; I'm talking about the inherently selective, subjective and sensationalist nature of every news outlet that ever has and will exist.

wtf
wtf
I agree; I'm p sure any town or city that has low socioeconomic areas (i.e., all of them) has similar problems
Getting prejudiced about the North of England because you have seen some naughty things happen is dumb

TBH it's pretty disgusting how big of a deal you're making out of such a little thing. You want to see a deplorable way of life look at Detroit, Camden, Oakland, St Louis, North Philly. You'd lose your shit seeing the way the impoverished have to live in those cities. Kids on the streets running drugs for gangs, city blocks becoming more and more gentrified, forcing the already poor out of their homes and into the streets. You complain about lad culture like it's some sort epidemic that's a blight on the earth while cities turn into warzones and kids die in the streets of a first world country. You so obviously feel entitled to get upset about the littlest shit while completely missing the things that are really worth getting worked up over.

I actually thought I was in the car crash thread because the advert above, but my point still stands, New Zealand know what it takes to make an advert/infomercial!
Its not always a good thing, this one is recent and it is depressing every time it comes on.
The statistics don't lie. The North of England has the highest unemployment and anti social behaviour rate anywhere in the country. Britain can flourish again and lad culture can cease to exist. We can go back to being a proud nation again. Gentlemen in bowler hats can wander the streets in safety.
I haven't 'debunked' I have been presented with an argument from yourself and Maloof but I'm not completely satisfied. I can't help but think you are both viewing the world from rose tinted glasses. It's as if you have been mollycoddled your entire life.
No one else has presented a decent argument. "WTF" and "What are you doing" don't cut it.
now we find the real root of the problem

Your argument/statement:
Lad culture reaches new zealand so sad cry cry, referring to the drinking problem in New Zealand
Lad culture became a thing in the 90's
The New Zealand drinking culture has been around since at least WW1, predating lad culture by several decades
You are wrong.
We can go back to being a proud nation again. Gentlemen in bowler hats can wander the streets in safety.
Yeah nah there is no way anyone could type that with a straight face and not think they look like a fuckwit. No way he's serious.
not buying the hate on 'lad culture'
i don't get what's wrong with having couple of drinks and acting stupid, its really fun. you should try it sometime.
[editline]9th January 2014[/editline]
They should have done that as soon as they saw the kid, he could have used a stomach pumping or two. That's just fucked up
If you ask me they should've called the cops. Stomach pumping doesn't do shit once the alcohol is already in your bloodstream.
