Why would military shoot the rebels? They are both fighting against the Russia financed Chechen mercs trying to destabilize the east. They don't need to restore old tanks because they're being constantly supplied from Russia, including launchers and anti air weapons (that one chopper was hit). Even yesterday our military repelled an attack on a border checkpoint - they wanted to break through a couple of cars full of mercs and a APC. No actual Ukrainian citizen protests the current government.
