The art isn't bad, to be completely honest. Maybe they could get rid of the similarities to the mobs though. In fact, keep the bloody artwork, remove it from minecraft, and make a VN or something with it.

Anime is good looking, and more importantly, very easy to draw.
The artist might have also been more experienced and practiced with anime style. It's still not [i]good[/i] anime style drawings, though. They seem rather meh to me.
