• Cringeworthy promo for a female League of Legends team

What you say is true, but I'm not convinced there is a scheme to profit off of desperate men here. The name is really a small part of the team, sure a name is important for marketing, but I think it's more important to see what tone they give off, or gather more evidence, before we can say whether or not they're trying to capitalise off being women.
i know what you mean. but i'm not blaming the players, i'm blaming their promoters, who are definitely men.
idk man siren is a pretty badass name i think you're looking into it far too much. you probably have the idea that any girl that plays games is either exploiting men or being exploited to exploit men. women can take care of themselves, m8
i know what you mean. but i'm not blaming the players, i'm blaming their promoters, who are definitely men.
Maybe so, but we don't know the promoters are capitalising off the gender either. They could well have the right intentions.
idk man siren is a pretty badass name
I agree. They did cause shipwrecks, after all.
idk man siren is a pretty badass name i think you're looking into it far too much. you probably have the idea that any girl that plays games is either exploiting men or being exploited to exploit men. women can take care of themselves, m8
no no no thats not it at all. if that's what i've come across like then i've been doing it wrong, i'm a feminist ffs. you cant just shrug off the siren thing with "idk its a badass name" when everything in marketing has an underlying psychological decision. you have do deconstruct these things. i'm just saying it's a sad fact that promoters can capitalize on gender like this and people will eat it up. like i said before i have no reason to have a gender-related predisposition towards people, espeically not when they're playing an online videogame. i'm saying these particular girls are being exploited through their marketer's decisions.
i dont care, its still very stupid to pull it up, mooth, winters, and the rest of the sanius squad will circlejerk over each other over how they have to defend women from people like me. meanwhile i have absolutely no problem with equality, same with lamba. there are woman vlogers out there that even hate shit like this and agree with my earlier point. theres a reason why its called gender neutrality, meaning you cant just go prancing around that you're better than men.
I dont know why you're bringing me into this. I havent said a fucking word about how I feel. I just dont think thay're "attention whoring" simply because they're bringing up their gender. The fact of the matter is regardless if they said if they were women in this video or not people would've called them attention whores. [editline]1st June 2013[/editline] I'm certainly not circle jerkin or white knighting and I really dont know why you think I am. Like why the fuck do people care either way. Some people in this thread talked about their win ratio and judging them once they saw them in actions while others just said "wow they're bringing up their genders in this video what whores." Frankly im much more fond of the people who talked about their skills in the game because that is sort of what matters with these teams.
lmao why must these kind of thread always EXPLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODE
I like facecams and I don't see a problem with this video.
Just curious but why are so many LOL pros Asian? In all the teams i see they all look Asian.
Because Esports is a big thing in Northeast Asian culture apparently.
I don't know why you all hated the trailer but I liked it. I mean it should have shown more actual gameplay and such but I still thought it was good to watch.
Only facepunch can turn anything into a debate about feminism.
Gee look more gender debate.......
Woman blatantly exposes her cleavage to gain more viewers fully knowing what she is doing, "OMG PATRARCHAL PIGS STOP OBJECTIFYING HER". I know that people who's life consists purely of rabid feminism on the internet don't seem to be very knowledgeable about this but I'll reveal a secret: Women who dress provocatively do so because they enjoy the attention, go out in real life and see that people want to be attractive to the other sex and only dysfunctional I-am-to-femminism-what-nazism-is-to-socialism women on Tumblr or spiteful neckbeards on /r9k/ think there is anything wrong or forced with that. Also stop shoving your ideology into everything, anytime someone says a woman does something wrong you fuckers come in shouting about privilege and patriarchy (or if someone just might insinuate it you break out the snide, ego-inflated, loaded question). Go out and do that in real life, maybe when a few women tell you to fuck off you'll understand that there is more to interaction between men and women than the former oppressing the latter.
I'm really into how this thread (with help from max) about a silly video has outed a bunch of fp members as blatant sexists with no shame or self awareness lol (see above)
I'm really into how this thread (with help from max) about a silly video has outed a bunch of fp members as blatant sexists with no shame or self awareness lol (see above)
Oh yes trying hard to find anything that can even remotely be linked to misogyny (which is everything to some people it seems) and using it to start up yet another feminism shitstorm derailing yet another thread is such a great contribution to the forum, we really need someone probing every single word of a post in an attempt to shove in a debate about your ideologies, thanks Max. A small group of people on this forum go around every thread looking with a microscope to find anything that will help them start yet another debate about their ideology, and when someone tells them not to, they start crying all over the place about that being proof of them being right, shitting up the thread even more and using it as fuel for even more shitstorms. Nobody likes people shoving their ideologies into everything, you're worse than religious extremists and I'm starting to think the only reason they don't get banned for their behaviour and for derailing is because Max is turning a blind eye to anything as long as it agrees with his viewpoints.
I'm not sure I will get a response to this post seeing as I'm late and people seem to have been banned. Why does sexuality seem to bother some people here on FP. People use sexuality to their advantage everyday. Both Females and Males do this! As with anything some are more daring and shameless than others. There are many examples of gender based advertisements targeting the same and opposite gender for different products according to their function. Advertisements that target females or males tend to cater to the different "needs" of their target audience. Sexual themes tend to catch the eye and get your attention. In Madrid for example I went past a store that had half nude male models standing in the entrance where there was a huge crowd of women gathered, many of them spent money. Just like how you see women doing the same thing to endorse different products. Sexuality goes both ways and the same way and is a good way to gain attention. Just like how some guys like to take pictures of their muscles in the mirror some girls choose to show cleavage. People can choose to appeal to other people in different ways. There are both male and female attention-whores. But that does not mean that everyone is. People like to look nice and it's a confidence booster to look presentable, I know I do. Smelling and looking nice is what makes you attractive and interesting to other people at first sight. Self promotion is a good thing and is nothing to frown upon. If you make this complicated when it really isn't then I don't know what to tell you. Of-course there is more to all of us than just our physical attributes, but don't try to say that they don't matter. Stop being scared of other people just because they are different and you don't understand how that makes you feel. Many people will disagree with this but I felt like adding to the discussion. I'm not trying to express any particular agenda here, just my 2 cents.
LOSING IS NOT AN OPTION WUUUUUB WUBWUBWUB

Its actually pretty common and casual. Also you've got a pretty self fulfilling prof icy here "feminists only respond negatively, so I'll viscously insult them." It brings a negative connotation to simply making yourself presentable.
I agree with you completely I just dont think its apropriet to call it attention whoring. It's appropriate sometimes though, but I wouldn't call someone who dresses nice an attention whore. I'm talking about people who bring attention to themselves and then complain about said attention to get even more. A common behavior on social networking websites like Facebook.
It took you guys 2 more pages to repeat exactly what I had said earlier? Heh.
It took you guys 2 more pages to repeat exactly what I had said earlier? Heh.
All you did was say something obvious and then get really defensive and insult other people when they didn't agree with you. You act like you came in here and enlightened everyone, very smug. I agree with what you said for the most part, mostly.
lmao why must these kind of thread always EXPLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODE
LoL threads or threads about women?
Is ciderhelm the only LoL player that had the idea of doing greenscreen facecams or what ? It takes so much less of the screen than having a full white square dedicated to your face.
Why don't more people do that? It looks a lot better than the regular face cams.
Well you need to have good lighting conditions and a green screen
Well you need to have good lighting conditions and a green screen
If you're going to record yourself playing a game, you better have the best conditions possible for a facecam, or no facecam at all. It's really not that hard to get a good microphone, some green cloth and a projector with white paper in front of the light bulb to tame the light a bit.
Why don't more people do that? It looks a lot better than the regular face cams.
I really don't think it worth buying a green screen just so viewers can see over your shoulder.
i agree that having half the screen taken up by the facecam is ridiculous but i don't see what's wrong with the clothing wait, are you saying that cleavage = attention whore or some stupid double standard like that
No because if it was a guy playing shirtless it'd be equally as dumb. Stop trying to label people as misogynists.
I really don't think it worth buying a green screen just so viewers can see over your shoulder.
Any green cloth or painted wall works.
"Guns? Check Dubstep? Check BAD ASS LE GURL GAMERZ RIGHT HERE. " lmao
