I have no problem when a person likes MLP, but when it starts escalating into things like this, when your entire life evolves around a kids show, then you should seek help imo.
tbh you guys are running the spaghetti joke into the ground harder than armageddon could

how socially inept and insensitive do you have to be to say something as degrading as this

do you have downs syndrome?
how does having broken legs correlate with a genetic neural disorder?
I watch the show, and thought some aspects of it was great. But...this...shit is ridiculous...like BronyCon and all the other major pony things that make bronys think they are actually whimsical cartoon ponies in real life.
[QUOTE=milkandcooki;37174176]Facepunch whines and wonders why people are intolerant of gays and atheists, but then do a 180 and call people "autistic sperglords" for posting a fucking video of what they like.[/QUOTE]
AngryChairR does not represent the entirety facepunch.
I haven't seen anyone be an ass besides him, we're all feeling sorry for him.
Wasn't that bad at first, Would've made a great room for a child/fan....until the framed portraits of the ponies in the rose position wearing garters and stockings...that's when you take any fandom too damn far.
Pony fan or not, why on earth would you buy those plushies? They're ugly as fuck.
[editline]11th August 2012[/editline]
I mean if you're gonna buy shit for something you like at least buy good quality shit.
Most of the fan-made plushies are better and more accurate than the official ones. In fact, the official merchandise in general is weirdly proportioned and bordering the very straits of the uncanny continent.
I honestly don't have a problem with this. He has an interest in MLP, spends his own money to purchase things for his own bedroom and seems happy to do so. Not only that, he's excited enough to want to share it with other people. I don't think that's a bad thing at all. Yeah, it's weird, but who are we to judge some guy for what he enjoys? I mean, he's legitimately happy, and that's more than I can say for a lot of people I know. Sure, you can say it's a "self destructive" lifestyle, but you have to understand that these are people that had preexisting issues that find solace in MLP. MLP is their way of "seeking help". I mean, I don't think he's shoving anything in anybody's face, merely trying to share something that he wants to show off, like any one of us would do with a fandom we enjoy. Cut the guy some slack, he's not hurting anyone. Even if he's somehow hurting himself, at least he's happy, and it's his life.
Gotta admit though, he's pretty dedicated.

The good quality ones made by fans are really expensive ($100+)

Given the amount of money he seems to have spent on official merch I'm surprised he doesn't have any custom stuff [sub][sub][sub]-snip yeah bad idea-[/sub][/sub][/sub]

Yes thats nice and everything, but having an obsession on this scale is extremely unhealthy. In any and all forms. The only person hes probably hurting is himself, and many people fail to see this.

Let him hurt himself then. He's happy isn't he? Why is it unhealthy? Is it because he spends lots of money on things that make him happy? Do you have to only buy certain things to be considered "healthy"? Tell me, what does someone have to spend their time doing to be considered healthy? I mean, the lot of Facepunch tend to agree on the fact that people should be allowed to do what they want with their life as long as they don't hurt other people. I mean, how is he hurting himself?
Think about it, did he watch MLP and suddenly become anti-social? Did he suddenly develop his impediments? No, he was already like this before he had this "obsession." He was already the way he is now. All MLP does is allow him to be happy, and why is that a bad thing? This is many people's was of "fitting in" with other people. People that would normally be insulted now find away to connect with peers. (people who watch MLP as well) Isn't that better than just continuing down a road of anti-social behaviour?
You have to realize these people didn't choose to be the way they are. MLP is the only thing many of them have.
If I ever have a bad day, I'm just going to have to watch this video again.

But MLP is feeding it.
And the MLP creators are getting serious dosh from him buying all the food and they don't give a fuck.
People like this are why the community in general is so hated.
I'm not a "brony" but I've seen about half the show and in my opinion it's really not that bad, the problem is that it has a massive community, and when you have huge groups of people there are always bound to be more than a few spaghetti overlords in there

If they stopped making MLP products, do you think these people would suddenly become healthy, social, beings that act just like normal people? I mean, yes MLP is making a lot of money from this, but it's not like that was ever the point of MLP. They aren't bad people for doing it either. They saw an open market, and took it. That's a perfectly legitimate way to run a business.
Besides, that has nothing to do with these people finding comfort in MLP and how that's an unhealthy thing.

I can't believe you just asked, "how is he hurting himself"... If you're going to be that oblivious I'm not even going to bother arguing with you on the different levels of "how antisocial is he" bullshit. If you think this isn't hurting him- you're wrong, and I'm not going to sit here wasting my good time explaining something you failed to understand within the first post. I seriously can't imagine sitting here, arguing as much as you do in every MLP thread. Let him hurt himself? Wow.

Are you an idiot? So you're saying that he is hurting himself for buying things he enjoys buying? I don't understand. If you're saying he's hurting himself because he likes MLP, how? Is he wasting his money? Please tell me how he's hurting himself anymore than anyone else who likes something and spends money on things of that nature. He's happy, that's all that matters, and you seem to avoid the issue entirely for no reason.
You seem to think:
"He obsesses MLP, so he's going to live an awful life."
How would [b]you[/b] suggest he live [b]his[/b] life? What should he do to not live the awful life that you believe he currently lives?

hahaha you're so thick- its the level of obsession. if you think being overly obsessed with something isn't unhealthy then you need help.
I feel bad for the parents D:
watch the dad be some war vet and the mom the understand abused lady.

Do you think people choose to have obsessive personalities? Do you think that it's something he has control over? Do you believe he can just choose whether or not to like the things he likes?

I phrased that strangely, sorry.
The reason you get these guys is the enormous community, and the "problem" generator (people like him) is just a matter of numbers and not content.
the guy sounds like one of my I.T guys v:v:v
The problem is people seem to think that bronies chose to be bronies. These are people who were already anti-social, what many people tend to call "autistic" whether they really have autism or not. These are people that have already been through life being ridiculed, not fitting in, or generally not being happy. So they see MLP, something that reminds them of the great days of being a kid where no one judges anyone and everyone was happy, and they take solace in it. Sure, it's a false reality, but did they choose to be attracted to that fantasy ideology? These are people that have never felt truly accepted by the world around them, and now they do. What would you prefer they do to combat their mental issues? Seek a therapist or counselor? Most people don't have the money nor time to afford that, since therapists can costs hundreds of thousands of dollars before any real progress is made.
Yes, they're obsessing, and that's bad, but they don't have a choice. Their mental state forces them to like what they like. Let them be happy, it's not hurting you, and it's their choice to live life the way they want. If you think people should be allowed to smoke, drink, take drugs, all things that can evolve into very dangerous obsessions, I think we should let some guy buy the products he enjoys with the money he made. Stop judging people and let them do what they do. Look at how you live your life before you start insulting the way other people live theirs.
