I dreamt I was watching a Brutalmoose video and my parents walked in, and it was as though they caught me watching porn or something. There was a lot of "MUM NO GET OUT", "WHAT'S THAT YOU'RE WATCHING?"
Technically in Australia Brutalmoose content is classified as pornography. There was one guy who was nearly arrested for watching Brutalmoose in a public library.
Was it because of Super Deepthroat?

1) I guess this would be a good time to talk about my October streams, since we're reaching the second weekend of October and there probably won't be a stream. There's a lot of reasons why they aren't happening, involving work schedules, video schedules, and recent streaming difficulties. I really wanted to do Streamtober like I did last year, but it got to a point where I realized it wasn't plausible. I'm planning instead to do one stream this month (Probably playing Outlast), give out some games, get drunk. Hopefully it all works out. Having a full time job really throws a wrench into a lot of video, stuff. Any delays in videos/missed release goals/etc is probably because of work.
Also trying to get a video out this weekend... mid-week next week at the latest. Audio is cut, video is filmed, all I have to do is lay footage/effects. Should be 10 minutesish? Maybe a little longer? I don't remember, I'm not at my computer right now (I'm actually at work haha). Since I have access to a better camera, now, I've caved to demands and it'll be the first 1080p video I'm doing. So... that's a thing. I though 720p was plenty for what I do, but people wouldn't shut up about it, so 1080 it is!
2) OH. I didn't even make the avatar that I use here, someone made it for me, haha.
Wow, why did I even like Alan Wake?
I liked it :c
So Moose, in case you didn't read what I was saying in this stream. Ahem.
Alan Wake was released in May of 2010, before Wake, the only good horror games were Bioshock 1, and Resident Evil 4 years ago.
So it was alot of Silent Hill games, Fear 2, and Dead Space.
So when Alan Wake came out with it being like a Stephen King Story, people probably considered it the god scend to horror games.
Then three months later in September that same year, Amnesia: The Dark Descent came out, and is now considered the finest horror game of our current generation.
So there ya go, that "Holy Grail of Horror Gaming" load, blew three months too soon.
Your Welcome Moose <3
bioshock and resident evil 4 horror games? hahahahahaha the only horror games?pffttthahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
bioshock and resident evil 4 horror games? hahahahahaha the only horror games?pffttthahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
Ok Horror IS kinda subjective here. Resident Evil 4 was one of the "better" of Capcom's games before 5 came and shit all over it, and Bioshock was more a not really spooky game with really good writing and stuff. I mean again, in between Dead Space and mediocre Silent Hill games, and Resi 5, the horror gaming crowd was desperate.
ur dumb this explains everythin

None of these three games are horror games, and RE4 came out five whole years before Alan Wake.
I will agree there were very few decent survival horror games between 2005 and 2010 though, there were a few decent Japanese releases after RE4 came out though, but none for seventh gen consoles.

Man before Amnesia there was Penumbra and it's sequel.
Aw man, moose disabled automatic stream keeping so I can't watch the alan wake and further part of last nights stream :(
Man before Amnesia there was Penumbra and it's sequel.
Just gonna make this clear.
We're talking about console releases, and the casual audience here.
People who want a good horror game, but would be scratching their heads at games like Prenumbra and Stalker.
I'm talking about Alan Wake compared to well known console horror games that most people can pick up and play. People who don't want to fiddle with computers and downloads and mouse and keyboards to get spooked for an hour-hour 'n half.
Trust me, I know Prenumbra and Stalker are good examples of games that have a great spooky atmosphere and good scares, but when it comes to the major audience companies are now aiming for, (I searched in between 2007-2010), some folks wanted sometime more easier to slide into in play; They want Edgar Allen Poe, not H.P. Lovecraft.
Alan Wake was interesting for the time, because besides the Jump scares of Dead Space, and the whole "meh"ness of recent Silent Hill games, here is a game with elements of both Stephen King and H.P. Lovecraft with an interesting mechanic, a somewhat original story, and at the time I wouldn't be surprised if some didn't say this was the finest piece of horror we would be getting from the industry for both gaming veterans, and new comers to gaming in general.
Now I know what you're gonna say, "Amnesia is a PC title right? Wouldn't that contradict what you just said?"
Yes it would.
If Pewdiepie was a simple nobody youtuber instead of one of the most watched youtube channels at the time of Amnesia's release. He's someone everyone and my sister knows. So in terms, thanks to Pewdiepie, Amnesia got attention and inevitably, praise for being one of the better horror games that inspired people to take to the PC for Amnesia, and indeed the other good PC horror titles.
And hey, nowadays Valve is helping to make PC more "living room" friendly, so this might lead to younger people being able to slide more easily onto the PC platform, therefore introducing them to great spook games.

[sp]P.S. sorry for the long post.[/sp]
[editline]12th October 2013[/editline]
[sp]Look I honestly am trying to figure out how Alan Wake got high scored despite being kinda mediocre, without saying "it's because journalist are corrupt assholes, end of story".[/sp]
Man before Amnesia there was Penumbra and it's sequel.
Condemned, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of The Earth are two other really good horror games I can think of.
They want Edgar Allen Poe, not H.P. Lovecraft.[/sp]
What does this mean, lol? Not to be a dick or anything but I just don't understand the thought behind this expression :v:
I agree on Alan Wake, it's a good game, pretty fine yeah, it plays well and is pretty cool and all, but as you say it's really just mediocre.
[editline]13th October 2013[/editline]
Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs has 360 gamepad support so maybe it'll be a good introduction to PC gaming... or maybe it'll just scare people away, like, literally

Oh shit right.
Condemned. I don't think alot of folks knew about Dark Corners though.
Speaking of Dark Corners, does Bethesda still own that ip by chance?

Honestly I don't really know, I just took a look at what games came before and after Alan Wake and lo and behold, Amnesia came out three months after Wake, and so I just tried to think up a reason for how it could rank high scores, in a time period of somewhat stagnant released (again besides PC games).
Also I like American Nightmare, and I liked Alan Wake, but seeing moose playing it and thinking about what he was saying was kinda true, the game's story is a slow walk through muddy molasses, but then again this is coming from someone who was able to play and beat Alan Wake in a single all nighter. I like the fictional band in both games (awesome songs), I liked the atmosphere, I like the Stephen King/Lovecraftian air it had, but seeing moose playing it and looking back in retrospect, I realized it has obvious flaws and could have been better.
