people seem to treat websites as public property just because you can go to them for free on the internet. if you're uploading videos to youtube and trying to make money off of the ad revenue, you're still using YouTube's service. you are bound to their terms regardless.
i feel for ethan and hila, but it's not really something they can fight against i think.
When a site has as much impact as Youtube or Facebook, then they also have a higher responsibility not to act scummy.
So unless they're willing to throw money to competitors no-strings-attached in order to level the playing field and lessen the burden on that front, then "With great power comes great responsibility" comes to mind.
We're dealing with a troll. It is time for us to stop posting about him and put this thread back on its rails.
Well then, there REALLY is no point arguing because this:
Lol, if you're going to split hairs and not differ "making a living" and "having a job" then there really is no point arguing is there? is ringing real true
I have yet to be affected by the auto-unsubbing and things not showing up in my subscriptions feed, but I am willing to believe that YouTube is a glitchy service half of the time which could screw up like that. And I don't even watch most of the stuff that I'm subscribed to, but it still shows up day after day.
But this explains why there are days where I keep on seeing so many memes and compilations in my suggestions as opposed to content I'd actually be interested in. People like and comment on those videos like crazy and a lot of them can be put out daily, if not multiple times a day.
What I do want to know is why that when I watch something embedded on here or other sites, it doesn't show up in my history but will pop up in my suggestions for the next few days?

You replied 6 minutes after I posted my post. Clearly you haven't read or seen all the content of the post itself. That's all there is to it. You don't care about what we have to say, and are clearly a troll.
On track: I haven't been affected by this unsub wave, but I've been seeing videos popping about it every now and then. So seems like it's a growing issue. Hopefully Youtube can sort this stuff out if they're even going to bother. After all, #WTFU is still going on, so YouTube doesn't care a lot about the community.
You don't start out as a web behemoth. You can build up to it as you gain traction. That's what Youtube did in the beginning.
But Youtube didn't have any big fish to compete against when it first started out.
You can't expect a start-up with small means which offers a clunky, barebones service to grow when Youtube is a much more viable, stable and convenient alternative for content creators and viewers alike.

The majority of your post was space.... you think you wrote a book or something? Did I actually have to watch every video you posted all the way through? You had one paragraph. What are you talking about
Also how am I not on track, I'm talking about the video, the reason he's mad, the reason Youtube is mad and the reason I'm mad at the video h3h3 made... I can only speak about the sub box to be on track? People will seriously try ANYTHING to throw your opinion out. It's honestly sickening. But maybe you're right and I'll leave this discussion here.

Just having an opinion does not give it meaning or value.

Okay well your opinion is wrong and I'm right. There are no facts to anything here. It's a matter of opinion. Literally personal belief. I don't agree with h3h3's stance. Plain as that.
Okay well your opinion is wrong and I'm right. There are no facts to anything here. It's a matter of opinion.
Except editing videos does take more effort than it looks. That is pretty much a fact.
Oh no people hate trust companies fucking with them what a big fucking surprise.

I find it funny that you agree with me toothpick, considering my comment is going against what you're standing for. Please pay attention in economics 101.

Its a credited job for every film and television show produced and has been for a long time.

Uhh, I never once mentioned race at all. Figured I'd give you the benefit of the doubt on not being a troll but okay, guess I got trolled, what a quality use of your time.

Tell me I'm lazy when I work 8 hours a day to make animations for YouTubers. Tell my friends they're lazy for editing videos for 8+ hours a day working for big channels and getting a sustainable income.
How long do you guys think it'll take before the Facepunch Hivemind card is played in this argument
And you people wanna talk about ME derailing the thread.
Look, I'm just gonna put this here because everyone willingly decided to ignore it just to call me stupid some more:
I do agree that Youtube can be shady though, I'm not disagreeing with that, but Youtube doesn't owe him anything other then the money he makes from his ad revenue. He does not deserve front page treatment, he does not deserve premium sub box treatment simply because he makes these constant Youtube sucks videos.
You have to look at it from Youtubes perspective. If you had people who have around 10-20 million consistent viewers AND DON'T constantly shit on the site, wouldn't you treat them with a little more respect?
I'm not really looking at this from a personal perspective, only a business one. I don't have an emotional connection with this guy.
This guy is not a good business investment, and I guarantee Youtube also sees this.
See you guys later. I hope thing's wont be so hostile next time if you disagree with me.
i don't get how you can't be seen as having a job if you do something which gets you money. Especially if you're paying income tax, then it's recognized by the government as your means of income AKA job.
If people don't want this to further turn into a Arbys Watcher scenario: ignore Toothpick and stop replying / referring to him, please. Mods will handle it soon enough.
A number of people here made it out that he's a troll and regardless, he basically has nothing to offer for input here because he's actively ignoring everyone else's point but his for attention.

I don't think Toothpick can play that card, his hand is already full of victim cards.

You want me banned... for this?
I can really see where I went wrong. I said editing isn't hard which is false, I know. What I meant when I said that was the type of editing h3h3 does is not that hard. So sorry if I muddied the waters there. And I really have been reading your guys posts and thoughts but I simply don't agree. I didn't want to turn this into a big fight/derail but discussions tend to fall off the rails every once in a while.
And please, stop with the personal insults. Damn guys I haven't sent one attack towards any of you.
Unfortunately you have a picture painted of me already. I do like this site and you guys but you can be very militant.

So lemme explain to you how Youtube makes money.
Youtube makes money off advertisements. The advertisers PAY to have their little banner/video show up in places. With attention being given to the product, the advertisers get money off of the more informed people who bought their product.
However, how do they get people to buy their stuff? Well they need people too SEE their stuff. That's where content creators come in. The content creators can allow the advertisers to place their stuff on their videos. But because YouTube owns the website and servers that the people upload their videos to, they need to get a cut of that advertisement money.
Simply put, more viewers, more money for the Content Creators.
Without the content creators, the advertisers won't bother to buy ad space on YouTube since no one will be there to click their advertisments.
This is quite literally the same as running a TV Channel, by yourself.
So yes, YOUTUBE OWES HIM BIG TIME. If it wasn't for him, YouTube wouldn't make money, and the service would fail.

No more proof needed :godzing:
I'm off for realsies now though. This has been too much fun, and I had my little time of immaturity. Sorry for derailing once more but I HAD to bring this up.
Also don't take this personally Toothpick. Things tend to get a bit personal with me when it comes to content creators and Youtube. You seem like a nice guy and handled this quite maturely, despite the entire thread being against you.

I really should have cleared my position on editing. I can see how actual editors could get really upset at me over that. But h3h3 is not that kind of editing, I'm sorry. His intro is the most editing he's ever done.
Youtube is a service. It aggregates a massive amount of content from many, many different creators. Users of youtube, it's customers, can subscribe to the channels which they like and ignore the ones they do not. Youtube then puts content from the channels people subscribe to on their front page, so they can find new videos that they want to watch.
When Youtube then does not show it's users new content from their subscribed channels, that's a failure of it's service. It's somewhat akin to going to a restaurant and ordering a meal, only to receive a completely different meal. In such a case you are completely in your right to complain, and this is no different.

I guess so, you are right. But I simply don't agree with the way he goes about it and hell, I even understand why Youtube would do it to him. He really is a bad business investment. He has no loyalty, he will bad mouth you as soon as it fits for him. He's done it over and over. He's done it to other youtubers even. With all these "Youtube sucks" videos it's really not hard to see why he's getting no help from them.
I'm not agreeing with Youtube's stance when I say this. I'm just explaining why it's happening to him. That's all. Don't understand all the big hub bub over it.
I find it really strange the reports of automatic unsubbing. I've been subscribed to MarkCrilley for years (like almost a decade) and I've literally never watched a single video of his. Maybe certain channels are being targeted? I do make sure I'm on the subscriptions tab rather than the home page, so maybe that has something to do with it. Honestly, no-one should bother checking the homepage, it's literal (actually figurative) garbage.

Don't they have a system to automatically desubscribe people they think are bots?
If that were the case it'd be a real fuckin' weird failure of the algorithms

Making content and attracting 2.69 million subscribers to watch the content you produce is not easy.
Looking at his views and roughly speaking, h3h3's videos average 1 million to 2 million views with overwhelmingly positive like/dislike ratios. Even if you don't like their content, you can't deny that they must be doing something right if they have millions of subscribers, views, and a fantastic like to dislike ratio.
If you truly believe that content creation and video editing as is as easy as you make it, I'd like to see you match the 200+ videos h3h3's put out in addition to gaining millions of subscribers. Alternatively you could just admit that they've put a shitload of effort into their career.
