Am I the only one who finds this attitude absurd? Creative kills are part of the fun and replay value. Hitman proved having long thought out kills could be hella fun to do while still giving the option to cut to the chase.
I kind of understand the critisim. You seem to have such a load of options, and some very easy ones, that you might end up just doing whatever's the least effort. In Hitman you had some serious barriers you had to overcome before getting close to your target, so pretty much every approach asked for some creativity. In this game, so far, you seem to have multiple ways to overcome pretty much every barrier instantly. Especially the short-range teleport thing looks like a cheap way to skip guarded areas.

How hard the game is depends on whether you want to avoid enemies or kill them, same with Dishonored. You can't get every power in the game, and you have a limited amount of mana.
I guess it's a case of how they presented it then. The gameplay videos made it look easy.
Half the time they show it they use infinite mana to showcase all the powers quickly. It's a kind of bad idea since people automatically assume you can abuse powers non-stop.
Somehow every time I read or watch anything about this game I get hyped even more.
I can't wait for this game, I expect its going to be awesome. The only thing that kinda annoys me is the wind blast. I wish it didn't instantly kill them, instead just push them away, like in bioshock. I figured since you can go through the entire game without killing anyone the wind blast would just knock people over and you could escape. But I think it'll be fun to wind blast someone into a razor blade mine and see them blow to bits all over the place.

Either that or wicked expensive.
I had a bit of a chuckle, Dishonored is moving up to my number one most wanted.
Thief + Bioshock + Assassins Creed + Kirby: The Crystal Shards = Me Want
this really looks like victorian bioshock i'm pumped
Thief + Bioshock + Assassins Creed + Kirby: The Crystal Shards = Me Want
Where you getting THAT from? Also these kills are cool and all, but no doubt they use FAR too much Mana to be useful
Where you getting THAT from? Almost feels like they're legitimate feats the devs found on accident through pure experimentation.
i don't like the artstyle of this game at all it really makes it hard for me to care about this game [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] but it looks like the gameplay will make up for it
Where you getting THAT from? Also these kills are cool and all, but no doubt they use FAR too much Mana to be useful
The combo'ing of the magic and stuff.
Eeeegh.. I was proper pumped from this game when I watched the initial trailer but it looks like they've graphically downgraded since then.. It looks like TF2 or something, with low resolution comical textures on everything..

Thus the maps are a huge clusterfuck of big ornate items and setpieces from various times. It looks like there is far to little space, but then again there was a lot less open room in buildings back then.
This game looks weird, I know for a fact it'll be a disappointment, but I overall hope it won't be. Like look at Bioshock, that was supposed to be soooo great, but...well, it really wasn't as great as, at least I, were hoping. [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] Also what the fuck is the character's weaknesses? He can possess all organic creatures, stop time, and force push? What could even kill him?

Just because he has all these powers doesn't mean he's invincible. He's still human and if you fuck up you can easily get killed just like in Thief which is a game that heavily influenced Dishonored. As said before he has infinite mana in most demonstrations and probably infinite health too.

I've heard it told from people who've playtested it that on the higher difficulty levels (read: not the one they always use for presentations and trailers where the AI is crippled) that going toe to toe with guards using only the sword is a dangerous prospect. And the more advanced the creature is, the less time you can possess it for. Also, I'll never quite understand the comparisons with BioShock, if we're talking art style Dishonored is retro-futuristic victorian and BioShock is art deco, the two aren't really that similar. Art Deco was all about lavish colours, motifs and symbols attempting to capture the spirit of prosperity post-world war one, and yes it drew from classical design because up until WWI things had been pretty good. What made art deco so distinct as an art style is the fact that it combined motifs and elements from several cultures around the world, this style being designed at a time where leisurely travel was more viable, so artists were more exposed to other cultures. Meanwhile Dishonored has the feel of an industrial era London infused with future tech. If we're talking gameplay then the only thing they have in common is your off-hand magical abilites, everything else is pretty different, mainly in the way the games approach combat.
I know for a fact it'll be a disappointment
Okay, if you say so.

That's all. This is why I hate people summing a game up by comparing it to others instead of actually going into detail when explaining it. I think he mines bioshock was advertised with a lot more features than were present, because it was, but so was just about every game ever made so the point is invalid.

It failed to deliver on all those aspects, to me. Its plot was cool, but mediocre, it was not free-roam (not bad but when you give an implication of it...don't fucking lie), the gameplay was stale, and well...I just didn't think it lived up to expectations, and that's my personal opinion about that. Anyway, about my claim that this game will be a disappointment, I have no way to back that up, but I guess only time will tell, I just have the feeling. Don't bother arguing with me about it, because I'm not trying to start an argument. No it makes your point invalid because that would mean that every game ever that has missed out on these promised features is a disappointment when they're not. To say that the game is a disappointment would mean that the game sold poorly or was received poorly by critics, but this didn't happen in bioshocks case or in many others which promised more than they gave.

I didn't like the game but I can't deny the sales and the extremely high scores. How can you expect this game NOT to have all the features it has advertised when they're all there in the videos they've put out? They said Bioshock didn't necessarily have a linear path but they never said it was freeroam at all, just that it was more than tight corridors with a straight path from A to B. Games advertise features early on that get canned in development and then people feel like they've been cheated when really it's just part of the development cycle. When they talk about features before the game even goes gold you shouldn't be acting like those are 100% done solid features unless you see them in the game fully working towards the end of the cycle. When they said there would be Glaives in Skyrim they said this before any gameplay was even shown, early on in the development cycle. I wasn't surprised at all when they weren't in the final build because I've learnt to stop assuming ideas talked about early on = definitely in the game.
Alright alright, I give, I'm dumb, whatever.
