I've tried it with many agame. Once again, it's just personal preference, but I don't like how it feels.
I can only really use it for pikmin and that's about it the only time I'll use it is for real functionality that really helps or so someone doesn't ruin it by using it themselves
It seems like a lot of Japanese developers really enjoyed Skyrim and took influence from it, pretty sure the Xenoblade guys did too. As people learned with Skyrim though, world size is meaningless if it's all empty and useless. I'm sure they'd be aware of this, but it's still an easy trap to fall into and you could end up with half the map being unatmospheric, boring, and tedious.
Skyrim is surprisingly popular in Japan for a western RPG. But I think the game reminds me more of Dragon's Dogma, though Zelda's map looks less like a big S and more like Vvardenfell or Solsthiem. Personally, Skyrim did the best with its worldspace than any of the previous Elder Scrolls. Daggerfall was an endless void outside of towns and dungeons, Morrowind had nothing but roads and Cliff Racers, I found one pretty place off the beaten path in Oblivion, but Skyrim had grand vistas and dungeons in all sorts of places. Maybe I just suck at exploring though, it blew my mind being able to see thing more than 4 feet in front of me in Skyrim even though it shouldn't have been anything new.

I wandered around plenty in Oblivion and compared to it, Skyrim does have more content spread around, but that doesn't mean it's not still spread horribly thin. Maybe it was the dungeons and encounters being around 5 different types copy-pasted continuously, or if the payoff for exploring was nothing compared to the time spent wandering aimlessly, but it got boring pretty quickly in both games.
You see that Tower? You can go there.
Infinite Dodongos.
The motion aiming looked a bit wonky, hope they fix that. In OoT3D it was much better than aiming with the joystick.
Something I've noticed Nintendo has gotten a lot better about since the DS and Wii transition to the 3DS and Wii U is making touch or motion controls an option instead of the only way to play the game. I really did like using the gyroscope in the gamepad to fine tune aiming stuff in WWHD along with doing coarse movements with the joystick.
ive heard a lot of comments about how good this looks even though all the video shows is a fucking tv screen
I guess im one of the few people who loved the immerse wide open ocean and didnt mind traveling.
I think most people liked it, but damn it got old later on. Fucking triforce collecting dawg.
Looks really bland and empty tbh. World looked boring and repetitive.
Looks really bland and empty tbh. World looked boring and repetitive.
It's most likely an older build. With them saying Star Fox will come out fist, a game we still have yet to see other than a few short clips from E3, it won't be out until the end of next year. They have time to populate it.
I hope hope hope it gets more details, the world looks big but empty in terms of details, shrubbery and so on
Don't get me wrong, I hope you are right, but they probably wouldn't be showing this if it wasn't looking as good as they think the release game will look.
I dunno, man- it's a year before release, and this was just a small little awards show. If E3 comes around and it still looks like this, you'd have a point, but at this stage I do indeed think it's too early.
ive heard a lot of comments about how good this looks even though all the video shows is a fucking tv screen
Yeah and on that TV screen is the video game being discussed... [editline]6th December 2014[/editline]
Looks really bland and empty tbh. World looked boring and repetitive.
You are literally shown 1 region so.. what? I did get a little worried though when they were going through that grove-like area and one of them said "This area is densely wooded"
The motion aiming looked a bit wonky, hope they fix that. In OoT3D it was much better than aiming with the joystick.
Well I hope they at least manage to do it as good as in Windwaker HD. Would be kinda strange if they wouldnt at least match aim quality.
Well I hope they at least manage to do it as good as in Windwaker HD. Biggest guess is early build, early integration thrown at the last minute.
You are literally shown 1 region so.. what? I did get a little worried though when they were going through that grove-like area and one of them said "This area is densely wooded"
The forest you can see underneath Link when he jumps off the cliff looks a lot more dense than that area they were going through on Epona.
One thing I've just thought... There's always, like, a billion "beta forest glitch" videos for Zelda games that show a forest that isn't a bunch of corridors with trees instead of stone walls but this game has open areas with dense tree growth.
This is giving me a large throwback to Shadow of the Colossus mixed with the vibrancy and style of Ghibli. Certainly want to see where this ends up.
I hope Link will have more of a personality, like the Wind Waker link. Who had many facial emotions.
I hope Link will have more of a personality, like the Wind Waker link. He had plenty of personality in Skyward Sword but no one acknowledged it.
Link will never appear to have the same amount of personality as WW link unless they do the cartoon network thing again. He had plenty of personality in Skyward Sword but no one acknowledged it.
Wish is quite sad. Going passed the gameplay and mechanics, the characters and the story is actually pretty great. And since WW, they gave Link a good amount of personality. If you compare SS and OoT Links, the latter is not that expressive, often just standing there. WW and SS Links are the more fleshed out of them all. And I feel like Zelda U might be a bit of both games being Wind Waker and Skyward Sword. Especially if they are using the aesthetics of the magic meter of WW as placeholder, a very similar blue outift and the hard cel shading artstyle. And Link having a few feminine traits similar to Skyward Sword (minus the lips).
Honestly if they can capture the charm of WW it's already a sale for me, I've loved that game since the day it came out and it really has forged my mental image of Link as this little piece of shit stoner who has 0 fucks left to give for the crazy shit going on around him.
I got to say I'm a tad underwhelmed. It's a bit empty? And in places Link rides across Gamecube style cliff textures. The horse mechanic could be spammed to get lots of easy slow-mo hits. In previous Zelda games you got a satisfying noise as you hit enemies, you got a metal clang if you missed or hit a protected spot or something. That's a really bizarre change. This looks like Windwaker with grass and horse instead of water and boat. Windwaker is one of my favourites but the big empty spaces should've been a thing to learn from, not continue all this time later. Like Link to the Past had something every few feet. I guess they could add a lot in the next year but then why show it now? It doesn't look like a title to release next year. Nor does it look much like a title that was ready to be shown now at all.
Didn't realize until now the magic meter is back. I'm already ten times more interested in this than I ever was in Skyward Sword. I hope they make the world interesting and not just a huge wasteland.
There are seriously people concluding the game is shit already because the game looks 'empty' and 'boring'. Those people are totally right. Nintendo should be able to poop out a full-made RPG with 100% playable content ready to be shown at a little game awards show. Not to mention they have a year of development left, but who cares?

"why does this unfinished game look unfinished? what a scam!"
I'm not saying this game looks bad, or any Zelda game really. It's just I personally really hate HAVING to feel like riding Epona is a must. I would rather have a smaller world full of interesting things and places to explore. I mean I guess it's not so bad if the environment is VERY aesthetically pleasing. But it really is tiring having to traverse across a giant empty Shadow of The Colossus world, that only exists for you to run through as fast as you can to find an interesting destination with Epona. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed Zelda titles such as Ocarina of Time, but navigating Hyrule field, and areas alike always killed me inside....

Guys, saw this on 4chan. It seens that they are taking more inspiration from Zelda 1 than we thought.
