Flat Earth Society member here. We are rather serious about our beliefs and have an active community dedicated to discussing them. Feel free to check us out on http://www.tfes.org - there's plenty of ways to reach out! A good starting point would be our FAQ: http://faq.tfes.org/
So uh. How do you explain the horizon then?
So uh. How do you explain the horizon then?
Aliens. But not from space, nono, from BEYOND THE EDGE.
I looked at one of the guys other videos, why do these types of people always say 'proofs' when talking about their "evidence" that supports the earth being flat?
Guess "proof" sounds better and easier/enough to convince other morons with
Flat earth believers are god damn cancer, why is the sun and moon round can they also explain that shit? Are those giant photoshop projections too. Anyway not to rob the thread but this is pretty cool.
The "official"(?) explanation is that arguing Earth's roundness based on other celestial bodies is a non-sequitur; even if there are planets which are round it does not mean earth is.
But they don't just say proof, they add an s at the end. Is proofs even a word?
Seems so, sounds odd though.
The "official"(?) explanation is that arguing Earth's roundness based on other celestial bodies is a non-sequitur; even if there are planets which are round it does not mean earth is.
what would the odds be of being the only object that defies the rules that dictate all the other objects in the universe? it's so nonsensical.

Also this picture is hilarious to me, if you're on the water in a boat... you totally can see the curvature.
Flat earth believers are god damn cancer, why is the sun and moon round can they also explain that shit? That means the Cold War, and by extension World War 2, were orchestrated by the Spherical Earth cabal. Billions of people died and trillions of dollars were spent just to avoid saying "welp, the earth is a plate". Just like Magellan's voyage, the discoveries made by ancient Greeks, and all that jazz. You just can't see the obvious. :tinfoil:
How do flat earthers deal with ship masts coming over the horizon before the rest of the boat? I've witnessed that first hand too
Also this picture is hilarious to me, if you're on the water in a boat... you totally can see the curvature.
they exaggerate the shit out of it too for the sake of argument "Wait it doesn't look like this made up roundness so it must be true!"
why does the government want us to believe we live on a ball?
How do flat earthers deal with ship masts coming over the horizon before the rest of the boat? Also, holy shit, that first video.
How do flat earthers deal with ship masts coming over the horizon before the rest of the boat? I've witnessed that first hand too
A friend sent me a video where some nutcase was claiming that the government lowered the water in certain areas because they knew he was filming the ship going over the horizon. He kept screaming "What!? But how!? They don't even have the technology!"
How do flat earthers deal with ship masts coming over the horizon before the rest of the boat? I've witnessed that first hand too
I remember being told legitimately that it's perspective, and that you will see it pop back up if you use good enough binoculars. I mean, they just said 'binoculars', but I just have this odd feeling that whichever binoculars you happen to use won't be good enough.
I remember being told legitimately that it's perspective, and that you will see it pop back up if you use good enough binoculars. I mean, they just said 'binoculars', but I just have this odd feeling that whichever binoculars you happen to use won't be good enough.
well yeah, but then if you kept watching with the binoculars, you'd see that happen again. You can watch the sunset twice by laying down, watching it set, standing up, and watching it set, that's not possible in a "flat" earth so I get so confused by the mental gymnastics.
My guess on flat earthers is that they: -have a conspiracy theorist personality (reactive losers who make shit up so they can blame others and feel like they know something that other people don't) -don't believe it 100% even if they don't admit it to themselves.
well yeah, but then if you kept watching with the binoculars, you'd see that happen again.
First of all no? You'd just see a closer image of the mast halfway over the horizon. Secondly; stronger binoculars.
You can watch the sunset twice by laying down, watching it set, standing up, and watching it set, that's not possible in a "flat" earth so I get so confused by the mental gymnastics.
The sun doesn't go down at all, it just moves over to the other parts of the Earth. It's perspective, man. I think that's perhaps the dumbest part of flat earth society. They think the sun is just a spotlight that hangs over the Earth and circles around. But then it should obviously be visible even at night, just further away. There's no reason for anything to disappear over any horizon or for there to even be a horizon, but they will explain it away with "perspective" and say that binoculars will fix it.
Could you imagine the shit we could pull on a flat earth? Napoléon's long range communication device would basically be the ancestor of our sick-ass laser beam communication cross-pacific internet.
Flat earth believers remind me of those kids in elementary school that plug their ears and scream "LALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU LALALALA" whenever you tell them something they don't want to hear.
my sister's boyfriend's dad doesn't believe in space. I've seen it first hand, people like him just absolutely believe they're right and anyone else is "brainwashed" it's fucking maddening tbh
Flat earth believers remind me of those kids in elementary school that plug their ears and scream "LALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU LALALALA" whenever you tell them something they don't want to hear.
"Everyone is free to use their own sources of facts" was the reply regarding that last time I posted on their boards. As someone pointed out above, Flat Earth basically in the same spot as WBC, best to just ignore it (and not make threads about it...)
I was under the impression that those people were trolling, or just taking it to be a form of creative expression or writing. Have to wonder after seeing a bit of this.
Kansas. He also doesn't believe in evolution.
Source? Brownstain is a terrible man, I don't doubt it - I just want to share this with other Kansans if it's true.
I was under the impression that those people were trolling, or just taking it to be a form of creative expression or writing. Have to wonder after seeing a bit of this.
a large number of people use it as a method of training debate skills they aren't trolling or believe it either, they simply want to argue something that isn't possible to defend and has been time and time again been proven as common fact

Something I would like to ask them is if the horizon is flat, how can the sun ever set without dipping under the ground? Funny how they use a spotlight or a "limited range" light to represent the sun in the pie/dome models, which if were true, the sun would be always be visible in the sky from everywhere, merely dimming out during night.
